HARRY MARYLES - YOU ARE ONE OF MY FAVORITE IDIOTS!

Hey Yutz!:

Before you "speak" as an authority on anything, make an attempt to do a little reading! You are clueless...and have way too much time on your hands. Get a job for God's sake and for the sake of the naive people that read your stupidity on your blog. You may actually cause some people to believe some of the nonsense you espouse and start beating the crap out of Haredim - because Harry said so. What a collection of misguided, boorish, unadulterated horse manure-laden, uneducated, unitelligible - pile of dog-dung - words without meaning! Certainly..you had help Einstein, I can't possibly imagine one person able to collect all this genius without assistance! Thanks to Steve, I actually took a look at your pitiful writings and laughed my mechila aka tukhess - off...! Now I gotta go find it!

From the Dallas Charter:

..."Number of priests who are currently serving: 44,000

Number of cases of abuse per priest:

Most priests were accused of a single event!

1,112 priests (25.0%) had two or three allegations
578 priests (13%) had four to nine allegations.
133 priests (2.9%) had ten or more allegations.

Factors contributing to the abuse problem, as stated by the report:

Failure by the hierarchy to grasp the seriousness of the problem.
Overemphasis on the need to avoid a scandal.
Use of unqualified treatment centers.
Misguided willingness to forgive.
Insufficient accountability.

According to Paul McHugh, a member of the National Review Board, the epidemic of child abuse cases sprang up "...early in the 1960s and reached tidal-wave proportions in the 1970s and early 1980s." The report suffers from what public-health workers call "reporting bias." Some details of the 11,000 cases of alleged abuse are known.

But there exists another "pool of victims of unknown size...outside of their accounting..." They might never come to light.

By reaching back to the year 1950, the John Jay study showed that the 1950s were comparatively free of predators. It went relatively unrecognized during the 1970s and 1980s".

One of my favorite commenters, Steve, rages on:

This was my response to Harry Maryles who called Avi Shafran one of his "favorite people" and who villified UOJ and this blog:

Harry,

This was the response of one of your "favorite people", Avi Shafran, after Kolko's arrest last December:

"Why would we have comment about the arrest of an individual? Because he was an employee, more than 30 years ago, of one of the camps we run (that have had thousands of employees over the years)? I don't think that requires comment on our part.

We are not even a party anymore to any lawsuit filed against the accused, as I understand it. The suit of the accuser who included Camp Agudah in his action (John Doe #1) has been dismissed (without prejudice, I believe, so it can still be refiled, but hasn't been)."

How about showing some sensitivity to the countless victims, many of which were from Camp Agudah? And don't tell me that Shafran wasn't aware of the allegations that stemmed from the camp. The bais din that was convened in the 80's was brought about by victims of the camp. Also, look at his response to the NY Magazine article of June '06- (On The Rabbi's Knee - nymag.com). In a nutshell, his response to the reports of sexual abuse in the community was that we are not as bad as the Catholic Church.

Now before you call UOJ a villain, I challenge you to name one individual that he wrongfully accused. As for the way he runs his blog, at least he has a noble goal and mission, which is to rid klal yisrael of molesters and corrupt leaders. I cannot say the same for your blog whose purpose seems to be simply to foment sinas chinam amongst klal yisrael.

All you do is take a news item and try to twist it into another anti-chareidi rant in which you stereotype and label groups of people. At least UOJ backs up his words with action, as evidenced by the fact that six molesters that last year were in chinuch are now either in prison, awaiting extradition, under indictment, or have been fired.

The man was matzil nefashos and as you know if one saves one Jewish soul, it's as if he saved the world. How many nefashos has your pathetic blog saved? All you've accomplished is to stir up old arguments between chareidim and MO's, thereby promoting sinas chinam, and delaying the coming of Mashiach.

So Harry you and all your corrupt "favorite people" can continue to villify UOJ, just like they did last year at their convention. Your words are empty and meaningless because we can see right through your transparent hypocrisy.

Amen!

You want to know what sort of person Harry Maryles is? He wrote that the day the Jews were expelled from their homes in Gaza, he would make a seudas mitzvah. That's all you need to know about him. Hibodlu miteich ho'edoh horo'oh hazeis.

The truth is, he is bitter because everything he writes in this article about Lubavitch applies with much greater force to his own beloved "centrism", which he admits is a dying trend. His own son has abandoned his derech, and has become a black-hatter whose own children learn no limudei chol. He is proud of being one of the last of the "centrists". But, how does he put it? It has "been marginalized by mainstream Judaism". And he's angry about that. So he displaces this anger on Lubavitch.

Harry Maryles is a man with a big ego. He would like us to believe that he is an intellectual but in fact he is a crotchety man of meager knowledge. Read his posts and you would see that he only offers his opinion but can’t buttress them with facts and figures.

In a special Internet announcement in Arabic, picked up DEBKAfile’s counter-terror sources, Osama bin Laden’s followers announced Monday, Oct. 29, the launching of Electronic Jihad. On Sunday, Nov. 11, al Qaeda’s electronic experts will start attacking Western, Jewish, Israeli, Muslim apostate and Shiite Web sites. On Day One, they will test their skills against 15 targeted sites expand the operation from day to day thereafter until hundreds of thousands of Islamist hackers are in action against untold numbers of anti-Muslim sites.

DEBKAfile’s counter-terror sources report that, shortly after the first announcement, some of al Qaeda’s own Web sites went blank, apparently crashed by the American intelligence computer experts tracking them.

The next day, Oct. 30, they were up again, claiming their Islamic fire walls were proof against infidel assault.

They also boasted an impenetrable e-mail network for volunteers wishing to join up with the cyber jihad to contact and receive instructions undetected by the security agencies in their respective countries.

Our sources say the instructions come in simple language and are organized in sections according to target. They offer would-be martyrs, who for one reason or another are unable to fight in the field, to fulfill their jihad obligations on the Net. These virtual martyrs are assured of the same thrill and sense of elation as a jihadi on the “battlefield.”

In effect, say DEBKAfile’s counter-terror experts, al Qaeda is retaliating against Western intelligence agencies’ tactics, which detect new terrorist sites and zap them as soon as they appear. Until now, the jihadists kept dodging the assault by throwing up dozens of new sites simultaneously. This kept the trackers busy and ensured that some of the sites survived, while empty pages were promptly replaced. But as al Qaeda’s cyber wizards got better at keeping its presence on the Net for longer periods, so too did Western counter-attackers at knocking them down. Now Bin Laden’s cyber legions are fighting back. The electronic war they have declared could cause considerable trouble on the world’s Internet.

Officials seek harder line on teacher sex offenders
    By MICHAEL GORMLEY

    Associated Press Writer

    12:20 PM EDT, November 3, 2007

    ALBANY, N.Y.

The governor and the state education commissioner plan reforms, one newspaper called for investigations, and the New York's largest teachers' union issued its strongest directive yet: If a teacher suspects a colleague of having sex with a student, report it.

The reactions are among those that followed a nationwide series of articles by The Associated Press detailing cases of teachers and other school employees caught in sexual relationships with students. Records in the stories two weeks ago showed many of the relationships continued for months and went unreported despite widespread rumors.

"The information is very shocking and serious," said Assembly Education Committee Chairwoman Catherine Nolan, a Queens Democrat. She said she will work with the governor, the Senate and her Assembly colleagues on specific bills.

"As a parent, these stories are like a nightmare," she said. "I was particularly struck that often times children were not believed or families that brought charges were ostracized. Surely we can do better as a society."

The Post-Star of Syracuse called the AP's findings "disturbing data that should encourage independent state investigations ... The issue deserves further inquiry and attention _ on how abuse is reported, how records are kept and how teachers are disciplined."

Gov. Eliot Spitzer and state Education Commissioner Richard Mills are working together to push administrative and legislative changes.

"We cannot and should never tolerate any behavior that risks the physical and emotional well being of the students that we are entrusted to serve," Spitzer said. "My office is working with State Education department officials and administrators to continually examine data and to identify proactive measures that could include stronger policies and procedures, increased training for staff, as well as the use of available `phone tip lines' to report known or suspected violations."

"More needs to be done," Mills said. "We will present major reforms during the upcoming legislative session to increase student protection _ by getting the legal authority to revoke automatically the certification of educators convicted of sexual misconduct and by funding increased training of school personnel about appropriate conduct.

"We know that the vast majority of educators in New York take excellent care of the children in their schools, but some individuals do pose a threat," said Mills. "We have carefully followed state trends. We know that the growing number of cases reported in New York is the result of several factors: Heightened public awareness, fingerprinting and criminal background checks, and better reporting by school officials and law enforcement."

The AP's search of state-by-state records found sexual misconduct allegations led states to take action against the licenses of 2,570 educators from 2001 through 2005. That figure includes licenses that were revoked, denied and surrendered. There are about 3 million public school teachers in the United States.

In New York, the number of "moral conduct" accusations against teachers, administrators and aides has doubled in five years. In 2005, 134 cases were reported involving teachers, other school employees and some seeking teaching certificates. That compares to 70 cases in 2001. Almost three in four of the moral conduct cases involved sex or an inappropriate relationship, according to the first study of the cases. The study was done three months after 2005 stories by the AP pieced together the extent of the sex cases, few of which ever become public.

In all, 485 misconduct cases were reported over five years, most of them involving sexual misconduct.

National surveys of students and former students show the problem may be many times worse. Cases in New York and other states show there's a reluctance of victims to come forward and reluctance by some teachers and school officials to report what can be a career-ending accusation against a colleague as well as bad publicity for the school.

The state's largest teachers' union, one of Albany strongest lobbyists and biggest campaign contributors, is sending a direct reminder to its members.

"The message from NYSUT is if there is a suspicion, it should be reported," said Carl Korn, spokesman for the New York State United Teachers Union. "We have no stake in protecting teachers who hurt kids or act in a way that embarrasses or tarnishes the profession."

The union continues to emphasize that the number of proven cases, in which licenses were revoked by the state, is a fraction of the 300,000 teachers, aides and other school employees statewide.

"Having said that, one case is one too many," Korn said.

The union is still in "preliminary conversations" with the education department over adding a code of ethics for teachers to promptly report suspicions of sexual misconduct with children.

Other professions licensed by the state are already covered by similar provisions.

  15. TEL AVIV (Reuters) - An annual memorial for slain Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin drew tens of thousands of mourners after a court cleared the way for his assassin's newborn son to be circumcised in jail, on the 12th anniversary of the killing.

"It is disgusting," the late prime minister's daughter, Dalia Rabin, said on Saturday in response to the order to authorities to permit Yigal Amir to hold the Jewish ritual ceremony on Sunday in the prison where he is serving a life sentence.

Amir, an Orthodox Jew, killed Rabin at a peace rally in Tel Aviv on November 4, 1995. He said he shot the former general to stop him from handing parts of the biblical "Land of Israel," to the Palestinians in peace negotiations.

Organizers of Saturday's memorial, held in the square where Rabin was killed, estimated the crowd at 150,000, a number far higher than in recent years.

Amir, 37, became a father last Sunday. Jewish tradition dictates ritual circumcision should be performed seven days after the birth of a son.

He was allowed to marry three years ago and permitted conjugal visits after winning a series of court battles. Amir's wife, Larissa, is a Russian immigrant who has four children from a previous marriage.

The Tel Aviv District Court ordered prison authorities to arrange the circumcision in jail after turning down Amir's request to be allowed to attend a ceremony on the outside.

Amir has become a polarizing symbol for hard-line nationalist supporters and for liberals who revile him. Many had campaigned to deny him the right to father a child.

History of Past Sexual Abuse in Married Observant Jewish Women

Pay per Article - You may access this article (from the computer you are currently using) for 1 day for US$15.00.

    Free Abstract

    http://ajp.psychiatryonline.org/cgi/content/abstract/164/11/1700

Rachel Yehuda, Ph.D. , Michelle Friedman, M.D., Talli Y. Rosenbaum, P.T., Ellen Labinsky, Ph.D. and James Schmeidler, Ph.D.
OBJECTIVE: The authors examined instances of past sexual abuse and related demographic characteristics in the self-reports of a select group of married observant Jewish women. METHODS: Orthodox Jewish married women (N=380) ages 19 to 58 responded to advertisements asking them to complete an anonymous questionnaire about sexual experiences, including sexual abuse. RESULTS: Sexual abuse was reported by 26% of the respondents surveyed, with 16% reporting abuse occurring by the age of 13. More ultra-Orthodox Jews reported abuse than modern-Orthodox Jews. Women who were raised observant reported significantly less childhood sexual abuse than those who became observant later in life. Sexual abuse was associated with increased treatment-seeking for depression, marital counseling, or other emotional or psychological problems. CONCLUSION: While observant Jewish women live in a culture defined by a high degree of adherence to specific laws of conduct, including rules designed to regulate sexual contact, sexual abuse of various types still exists among them.

  19. There are parallels here why the Agudah refuses to denounce me.

    http://www.spectator.co.uk/melaniephillips/305556/the-lethal-illusion.thtml

It is astounding that, as the US persists in its dangerous pretence that it can bring about a resolution of the Israel/Arab dispute at Annapolis by insisting on treating Mahmoud Abbas and Fatah as credible interlocutors for peace, that very same Fatah has tried to murder the Israel Prime Minister Ehud Olmert – and yet the momentum behind the Annapolis ‘summit’ has not even missed a beat. The alleged would-be assassins were first arrested by the PA, then released, and then after an outcry were re-arrested. But no-one imagines for a second that they will actually be brought to justice – and the reason why this won’t happen is the same reason that there is no peace between Israel and the Palestinians.

As Barry Rubin points out in this article , whatever Abbas may say about wanting to live in peace with Israel, he is not prepared to lift a finger to stop the violence, terror or incitement that makes that impossible. Mouthing the platitudes of peace, he does virtually nothing to stop the war. As Rubin observes, if the Fatah assassins had succeeded in killing Olmert, the Palestinian agenda would have suffered a devastating setback. The PA habitually deals with traitors to their cause by having them shot; it was in Abbas’s own interests, one might think, to have delivered condign punishment to those who would have done such damage to the Palestinian cause. But the rules of the game Fatah plays with Israel are quite different, and immutable:

    · Palestinians cannot stop other Palestinians from attacking Israel. To do so would be betraying the cause, becoming Israel’s lackey. This applies even if the Israelis are bringing in supplies or providing jobs to Palestinians, or if the attack damages Palestinian interests. If the victims are schoolchildren or shoppers or people riding on a bus, of course, is irrelevant in this world view.

    · He who is most militant is always right. Extremism equals heroism. This is one reason why Fatah has such a difficult time competing with Hamas. It cannot denounce these rivals for being too hardline and intransigent. Suicide bombers along with those who incite and manage them are role models, not misled individuals, much less evil ones.

    · More violence is good and a victory if it inflicts casualties or damage on Israel. Other than ritual denunciations for the foreign media, these are matters for pride, with the implication being that they advance the cause rather than sabotage it.

And so on. So much is dismally obvious from the most casual acquaintance with the facts of this conflict over the decades. Yet the Bush administration, Europe, Britain and Olmert himself (to what extent this is because he is under the American cosh is unclear) insist on behaving as if Fatah can and will make the peace. While they persist with this lethal fantasy, they guarantee the persistence of the conflict. By ignoring the fact that Abbas has not complied with one single precondition for negotiations laid down in the ‘road map’, namely that he must dismantle the infrastructure of terror and indeed has refused point blank to combat Hamas, they only ensure that terror will grow.

    Courage Needed to Disarm Iran
    Paul Johnson 11.12.07

But in view of Iran's declared policy toward Israel--that it will be content with nothing less than Israel's eradication--we must assume that once the regime acquires nuclear weapons it will use them against Israel at the earliest opportunity.

That is certainly the view taken by the Israelis. The country is too small and fragile to survive even a single nuclear strike from Iran. Such a brutal and evil act would be a second Holocaust, one from which the Jewish people might never recover. Therefore, if Iran persists in its plans, it's only a matter of time before the Israelis will be obliged to destroy Iran's nuclear facilities. In September Israel apparently acted against a putative nuclear weapons plant in Syria--successfully. It has chosen to keep silent about this strike, presumably because it serves as a dress rehearsal and experience-gathering operation for a similar but much larger strike against Iran.

Certainly Israel's preemptive strike plans against Iran are well advanced and constantly being improved. In the last resort, I believe Israel could conduct such a military operation on its own and in such a way as to delay Iran's acquisition of nuclear power for many years. Nevertheless, to leave it to the Israelis would be both cowardly and imprudent.

  22. A private bathroom beats the public one at Sears.

    http://www.news-journalonline.com/NewsJournalOnline/News/Headlines/frtHEAD01110207.htm

DAYTONA BEACH -- A former Daytona Beach city commissioner and a local high school teacher arrested Thursday during a sex sting at a Volusia mall bathroom were released from the Volusia County Brach Jail today, authorities said.

Former commissioner and mayoral candidate Mike Shallow and David Behringer, an athletic trainer and teacher at Seabreeze High School, posted $1,000 bail today after midnight, a jail spokesman said.

Behringer resigned today, according to officials with the Volusia County School District.

Shallow and Behringer were among nine men charged with lewd and lascivious conduct and exposure of a sexual organ, both misdemeanors, police said.

"The reason that we did this sting is we all go to the mall; our kids go into the bathroom," Police Chief Mike Chitwood said. "That they could be susceptible to this kind of behavior is absolutely a disgrace."

Also arrested were registered sex offender Douglas Benson, 48, of Port Orange, who was previously caught masturbating in the restroom of a day care center; and Edgar Millard, 73, Daytona Beach, charged in 2006 with sexual misconduct at a beachside bathroom, police said.

Detectives received a tip from officials at the Sears department store that sexual misconduct was taking place in its second-floor men's restroom, Chitwood said.

Further investigation by police found that encounters at local places like Sears were advertised online on Web sites like Craigslist and one that provides links to other sexually explicit sites, Chitwood said.

"This is a clandestine, subculture event," Chitwood said at a Thursday night press conference. "There's a whole culture that runs under the radar doing their thing."

A team of six officers from the Police Department's criminal suppression team joined forces with undercover officers from Volusia County Beach Patrol to nab the offenders from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday. The Beach Patrol regularly deals with similar misconduct at public bathrooms near the beach, Chitwood said.

"Most everything that's occurring is nonverbal," said Sgt. Jeff Hoffman, supervisor of the criminal suppression team.

Offenders coughed or sneezed, tapped their feet, sometimes under the stall beside them, or made loud zipper noises to attract attention from others interested in engaging in sexual acts, Hoffman said.

"It's scumbags like this that erode the quality of life that we have here," Chitwood said. "What scares me is that these are people that we trust to be political leaders, these are people that we trust with our children."

Shallow, 57, served two terms as a city commissioner from 1999-2003 and ran for mayor unsuccessfully in 2003, 2005 and 2007, finishing a distant fourth in the last race Oct. 9.

The Realtor and real estate broker also served as chairman of the Main Street Redevelopment Board in 2004-2005, and was on the Downtown-Ballough Road Redevelopment Board while he was a commissioner.

Daytona Beach Mayor Glenn Ritchey said he was "disappointed and sad and sorry for him and his wife and family."

"There's nothing I can say. I've known him for a long time. I was shocked. It's such a sad thing," Ritchey said.

Neil Harrington, a personal friend of Shallow's, was shocked at the arrest.

"I just can't believe that; I have no indication that Mike would ever be involved in anything like that," Harrington said.

Others arrested in the sting include Sebastian Bach, 37, Panama City; Larry Brown, 42, DeBary; William Volage, 46, and Kenneth Halpin, 44, both of Ormond Beach; and Ransom Peterson, 73, Port Orange.

Representatives for Sears and the Volusia Mall could not be reached for comment Thursday night.

A man who shouted "This is YouTube material" as he pissed on a dying, disabled woman has been sent to jail for three years.

Anthony Anderson, 27, had been smoking cannabis and drinking heavily with friends, when he found Christine Lakinski, 50, collapsed in a doorway in Hartlepool, in northern England.

Calling her a "smackhead", Anderson threw a bucket of water over her. He then urinated on the comatose woman and sprayed her with shaving foam, as his friends watched and laughed. The incident was captured for posterity on a camera phone. Anderson then went a night club.

Lakinski died at the scene of pancreatic failure. She had curvature of the spine and learning difficulties and suffered bullying all her life, according to reports.

Anderson pleaded guilty to "outraging public decency".

Katherine Ann Olson, 24, was found dead in the trunk of her car late Friday night at a park about 15 miles south of Minneapolis. She was last seen on Thursday morning, when she went to meet what she believed was a couple who recently relocated to the area and was in need of a babysitter, according to news reports.

Police have arrested a 19-year-old man they believe placed the ad. They have declined to identify the suspect except to say he worked at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. He was arrested there Friday night.

It's the first known time the site has been used to lure a victim of murder.

"I can't recall a single case like it," Craigslist founder Craig Newmark told KARE 11 News. "I'd like to express my condolences. This is a real tragedy and we're more eager than ever to help deal with the bad guy."

    Saturday, November 03, 2007

Early one Friday during the first week of school, two young men sneaked into a student residence at York University in Toronto, then roamed the halls on different floors in search of quarry - and unlocked doors. Surprised in their sleep, two 19-year-old women on different floors were raped. A third student managed to fend off her attacker.

A week earlier, a 23-year-old woman at Carleton University in Ottawa had been tied up, beaten and sexually assaulted while working alone in a chemistry lab.

Horrifying and disturbing as these cases are, social workers and others who monitor violence against women say they reflect only a fragment of what happens on today's campuses. Indeed, they worry such sensational stories may reinforce myths about what constitutes sexual assault while women let their guard down in other potentially dangerous situations.

"There's a myth that it's not rape unless a guy in a ski mask grabs you in a dark alley," said Liat Goldstein of Jewish Women International of Canada, a non-profit group dedicated to ending violence against women.

"The truth is that 84 per cent of women are assaulted by someone they know and trust, maybe someone they've dated for years."

  26. The Boston Globe says he is Shomer Shabbos & was charged with disorderly conduct because he kept making motions as if he had a weapon. What was the putz doing in a treif pizzeria?

Neuer is originally from Montreal & his picture is here:

    http://news.bostonherald.com/news/regional/general/view.bg?articleid=1042453&format=text

The man arrested at a Needham pizzeria Friday leads a human rights watchdog group, has penned op-eds for international newspapers and delivered a scathing and widely publicized address on Israel before the United Nations earlier this year.

Hillel C. Neuer, 37, who lives and works in Geneva, Switzerland, was cuffed after an hourlong standoff with police when jittery pizza shop workers thought they spotted him with a gun. No gun was found. Neuer was charged with disorderly conduct.

Neuer’s shocked colleagues at the American Jewish Committee in New York said he was in the United States on a speaking tour regarding his new report on anti-Semitism in the U.N. Earlier in the week, Neuer spoke in New York and at Yale University, and he’d stopped in Needham to meet with a fund-raiser. Neuer is slated to speak to the Boston chapter of the AJC today.

“Hillel Neuer seems to have been an unfortunate victim of a profound mistake which led to his arrest,” said Kenneth Bandler, national spokesman for the American Jewish Committee. “We are hopeful that with legal help, this will be resolved this weekend.”

Just before Neuer walked in to Stone Hearth Pizza Friday afternoon, news of a brutal murder and a killer on the loose had spread through the suburban enclave. A pizza shop worker said Friday night that Neuer had entered the shop acting as if he was in distress, carrying several large bags and saying he wanted a taxi to Newton.

“He was just really nervous when he came in talking to me. He said, ‘I want you to get me a cab.’ Right after that, he got up, went to the bathroom to change and came back with new clothes on,” said Dante Rogers, 24, of Needham.

Rogers said Neuer emerged wearing a blue suit and tie, sat down to eat his pizza, took one bite, then left and ran next door to CVS. Rogers said he was in the back making himself a pizza when Neuer returned and someone screamed.

“Someone yelled, ‘Gun. Gun. Gun,’ ” Rogers said. “Everyone was on the phone with 911. He saw the cruisers and he dove behind the tables and I ran out the back door.”

Yesterday, Rogers said his co-workers were likely jittery from the news coverage of the murder, but he said they did not overreact.

“They hear there’s a murder. They see a guy acting funny. They’re going to go crazy,” he said. “People are people, you know? They do what they have to do to make themselves feel safe.”

Neuer, a Montreal native, holds three law degrees. Since 2004, he has worked as executive director of U.N. Watch, a 14-year-old Geneva-based nongovernmental organization affiliated with the AJC. The group believes in the United Nations’ mission to “provide for a more just world,” according to its Web site.

Neuer has written nearly a dozen op-eds blasting the U.N.’s Council on Human Rights for papers including the International Herald Tribune, The Jerusalem Post and The Boston Globe. He has appeared as a commentator on CNN, Fox New

s and the BBC, and testified before Congress last year on human rights issues.

In March, he appeared before the U.N. Human Rights Council, calling it a “do-nothing, good-for-nothing council” that seeks to “scapegoat the Jewish people.”

The speech made the rounds on the blogosphere and was viewed more than 267,000 times on YouTube.com

    1. Rav Yudel Shain photographed at AGRI an animal that was still very much alive (after shechita) & they shot it in the brain right away & it was used as a kosher animal. It is an accepted practice by Rabbinical certifiers NOT to use such an animal.

2.Some of the shochtim that are hired by Rubashkin are amateurs that do not know how to check knives for pgams.

3.The majority of the shochtim are Meshichists and are passul-disqualified-from performing schita according to several leading authorities.

4.The workers are all forced to sign a document agreeing not to divulge any of the goings on at the plant regarding kashrus abuses. Any worker that doesn't conform is fined $5,000.00 and terminated.

5.One of their "mashgichim" named Spiegel (now rov of a shul in New Hempstead) was previously fired from Empire and was accused of having "neveloh tachos yado".

6.The mashgichim and machshirim are hand picked by Rubashkin and are paid directly by them. Furthermore, (Lubinsky from KosherFress) the editor of Kosher Today Magazine is on Rubashkin's payroll as a "consultant".

7.They do not allow any unscheduled visits to their plants, even by respected and qualified mashgichim (including the OU's R' Hershel Schechter). Visits are by appointment only.

    8. Rubashkin’s so called “Bais Yosef” meat is all a “sham”. The RUBASHKIN Certifier is of the stated opinion that all of their meat is “Bais Yosef” & that nobody really knows what is or is not Bais Yosef meat. (FYI contrary to Dayan Kohn Bais Yosef means “no lung adhessions whatsoever”.) RUBASHKIN commonly send to caterers so called Bais Yosef meat for Sephardim and there will be 1 or 2 pieces marked accordingly “Bais Yosef’ & the rest isn’t Bais Yosef”. … Their so called Bais Yosef meat is a consumer sham! including the beef & veal certified by Rabbi Hatchuel.

    9. The veal which they outsource was not under any hashgacha. It used to be under the hashgacha of Rabbi Kohn (KAJ) before he was fired.

    10. The system at RUBASHKIN is that non-Jews do the physical “nikur” [removal of forbidden fats] which is then checked by the “Mashgiach” [rabbinic supervisor]. The Certifier was shown that the “Mashgiach nikur” physically can’t handle the load and some meat goes by without being checked. He responded “there isn’t enough full time work for 2 people, only for 1 1/2 people & we can’t hire half a person so we’ll leave it with one Mashgiach till there is enough work for two full time people”.

    11. The quality of RUBASHKIN’s cattle is the cheapest available in the market (per USDA inspector, “low grade”) yet they have the highest ratio of “Kosher, Glatt, Bet Yosef” (including their veal) than most others. [Low-grade cattle normally have significantly higher levels of non-kosher and non-glatt than high-grade cattle.]

    12. RUBASHKIN controls all of the labels & commonly switches labels, as it was found on numerous occasions that on top of a non-Glatt label was stuck on a Glatt label, ‘cause they were short for an order. The Non-Jewish RUBASHKIN truck drivers have in their possession a box of different kosher labels to put on to boxes of meat as per a store’s request (I have 1 of those boxes of labels that I saw fall off a truck).

    13. The lung in an animal is an organ that constantly expands & contracts in the cavity of the animal. The lung is a relatively free hanging organ attached to the animal mostly by the tissue & muscle of the trachea, and slightly to other areas by some membranes. Once one cuts the supporting tissue & muscles around the kunah [lung] it is basically detached easily from the animal with a good pull or via a meat hook.

Immediatly after shechita while the animal is still in the schechita position, a non-jewish worker (the Shochet leaves the room) utilizes a 6- 8 inch (approx) knife to enlarge the opening around the trachea. He then use a meat hook to grab & pull the trachea a few inches & cutting off the trachea near the lung.

The concerns are that by making the cut around the trachea one may (in)advertently also puncture the lung. The knife is inserted quite deeply into the neck area thereby risking cutting the sirchos of the upper lung lobes. (Simlah Chadosha.)

Another serious concern is that by hooking & pulling on the trachea it will rip and dislodge the sirchos / adhesions that go from the lung to the Ribs and / or also some sirchos on the lung itself and then having the $$ opportunity to call it Glatt or at least kosher.

After the above procedures, it is practically impossible to check the lungs properly for Glatt or sirchos.

    14. The “Weinberg pen” allows a shechita munachas. The design of this pen’s head restrainer is not proper. The metal bar should come way below the neck’s shechita area. The Shochet is obviously afraid of nicking his knife on the metal bar, so he must do a controlled shechita with 3-4 back & forth knife strokes (a possibility of shehiya exists). An experienced Shochet utilizes 1-2 Back & forth knife strokes. Because of this “controlled cut” the Shochet obviously is not severing all of the arteries, requiring an unacceptable “2nd cut”.

Severing all neck arteries causes an almost immediate total collapse of the animal.

    15. Recently, a Shochet from a prominent “Torah community” was invited to see the beautiful “Rubashkin system” of shechita. He was impressed by the “show”. Now when the Shochet saw the PETA pictures he was aghast! While he was there [PETA time frame] they weren’t ripping tracheas, animals weren’t walking, thrashing around after the shechita etc. “I was taken for a ride! How can I believe “anything” I saw?” The Israeli Rabanut’s representatives claim they never saw many of the unacceptable items depicted on the PETA pictures.

    16. Nobody is watching how the treife meat is being labelled and where it is being shipped. The mashgichim and machshirim are relying on the honesty and integrity of the owners. Based on all of the above, CAN WE REALLY TRUST THEM?

It's not so veit that fressers at Kosher Fest will get confused. When Reichmann's personal rov, Dayan Sofer from the Badatz made a chassuna in Toronto he didn't want to use any halls under the Vaad because it wasn't good enough for him. He went to a big goyishe hotel but didn't realize there was more than one event there with shared areas. The Italian wedding put out treifa snacks on tables in the entranceway. When the heimishe guests showed up, they were gorging themselves on the tarfus.

FORGED LETTER by Rubashkin and his Fake Netzigim Committee - UNSIGNED !

Click Here to Download the Letter in PDF

    http://www.daashakohol.com/files/FAKE-5768netzigim1a.pdf

24 hours, After the Legitimate Netzigim, Letter, was already received, by all Netzigim by Mail, to call for a meeting of all legitimate Netzigim, to plan the forthcoming elections, a FORGED LETTER, by Rubashkin and his Fake Netzigim Committee, has been hastily, hand delivered, to all the shuls, calling for their own separate renegade meeting.

The letter-head, bears the names of Rubashkins Fake Netzigim Committee, which Rubashkin, had illegitimately established, in his private home, at the time when Rubashkin was attemting to avoid a financial audit, by the Legitimate Netzigim and when Rubashkin was trying to avoid having to be impeached, for his refusal to comply with the Netzigim Ordered Audit and for other more serious allegations against Rubashkin, namely his alleged corruption and abuse of power.

The stationary of this forged letter, bears the names of these very same renegade Netzigim, this time, trying to “save Rubashkin”, from having to face up, to the forthcoming democratic elections, this year.

The Fake Netzigim Letter, calls for their own renegade political meeting, this time in Rubashkins Office, of the CHJCC, which is funded by the City and State of New York, now being used, illegitimately, by Rubashkin, to perpetuate Rubashkins personal Political Agenda, for him to avoid having to face up to democratic elections.

Understandably, being that this is an outright forgery, abuse of power and Illegal, no one signed the document and so far no one has yet come forward to claim “credit” for the forgery.

Eye Witness Reports, indicate that Lipkind was involved in the distribution and his name also appears on the letterhead.

This seems to be indicative of Lipkinds’ direct involvement, not only in the distribution but possibly, also in the production of this forgery.

This is particularly SHOCKING, since Lipkind was specifically warned by the members of his Shull that he is UNAUTHORIZED to be involved.

The menu reads like many others - hamburgers, hot dogs and a slew of meat sandwiches. But on Thursday nights, the special is cholent. And behind the counter is a chef with peyot (sidelocks).

While food carts are a ubiquitous staple of New York culinary life, the arrival in Brooklyn's ultra-Orthodox Williamsburg enclave of "Sub on Wheels," the first glatt-kosher food truck, has sparked a heated battle.

The target is Nathan Lichtenstein, who parks his truck in the heart of the neighborhood from 6 p.m. to midnight, five nights a week.

"I woke up one morning, told my wife and kids I have a dream, and here I am," says Lichtenstein.

The truck, which first arrived in the middle of August, has touched off protests from extreme segments of haredi Williamsburg, who say it challenges their values. A few weeks ago, two men were taken into custody in connection with the protests, and police threatened more arrests if the situation got out of hand.

On Sunday, street posters warned families not to patronize the truck. "If you know what's good for your kids, don't let them go," the signs read.

Protesters think the food truck encourages fress - a Yiddish expression meaning to eat more than is necessary, or purely for pleasure. Fast food is not considered a viable alternative to home-cooked meals by Haredim, so it is assumed that whatever food is bought from the truck is in addition to dinner at home. Some also fear that the truck encourages men and women to mingle on the streets.

Many say the protesters are a vocal minority who resist anything new, especially if it appears to mirror secular society.

Old-timers remember the first kosher pizza place that opened, to loud protest, in the religious part of Williamsburg some 40 years ago. And more recently, a billboard for Oorah, a children's charity that wanted to encourage car donations, was spray-painted because the featured boy did not have the shaved head and long sidelocks common in Williamsburg.

Similar ventures in ultra-Orthodox neighborhoods have been tried in the past, but none has survived.

Lichtenstein, who has been through four heart attacks and the loss of a child, insists he is here to stay. "You can take the kid out of Williamsburg, but you can't take Williamsburg out of the kid," he repeats several times, laughing out loud.

Born and raised in the neighborhood, Lichtenstein, who has since moved upstate, isn't phased by the picketers. "We share the same blood. Let them get used to the scenery," he says.

This despite the hate mail he keeps folded in his pocket, asking him to leave. Letters from the Central Rabbinic Congress and other haredi organizations accuse Lichtenstein of "being like the goyim." A mention of Sub on Wheels on a haredi blog has drawn 130 comments.

One person wrote, "What is he doing wrong? It's not heimish [homey]. Women should cook homemade meals. Families should eat at home."

A majority of the comments, however, express support for Lichtenstein.

"Bad, bad people - a person is trying his luck and is finally successful," reads one. "Bad people are just jealous - isn't bein adam lehaveiro [the relationship with one's fellow man] more important than keeping kosher Williamsburg clean?"

Another says, "What's the problem? Some people just don't have what do with their time except think what to protest against next. Maybe we should protest protesting."

Many have come out to support Lichtenstein, who gets about 200 customers a night, most of them haredi.

Residents say it is the only place to buy a kosher meal late at night since a restaurant down the block closed after failing New York City health inspections.

"If he goes away, people will begin to ask where he is," says resident Shmuel Rosenthal. "What do people think - when the messiah comes, we won't need a food truck?"

One man dropped by on a recent night and said he wanted to invest in the business. "How much did you pay for the truck?" Daniel Masrzal asked, and handed Lichtenstein his card.

Another, Yoeli K., who grew up ultra-Orthodox but left the community at 13, stopped by the food truck on his way back from visiting his parents, who live in the neighborhood. He had read about Sub on Wheels on the religious blog and wanted to show his support. "Deep down, most people are okay with it," says Yoeli. "A large percentage welcome such a change, they are just scared to say it."

If the truck succeeds, Lichtenstein hopes to build a fleet. "Every successful business has to take baby steps," he says.

If you're talking about UOJ, I've written my piece about him... long before those ridiculous screeds he ever wrote about me.

    He's a mixed bag: Hero/Villain.

He is to be lauded for what he accomplished despite his tactics. Perhaps in that one YTT case the ends justified his means. I personally feel he could have taken the high road there too but… one could argue.

OTOH, he is to be completely condemned in how he runs his blog. That blog is a disgrace. Especially since he touts his Smicha... 'the real kind' as he pits it.

His blog is full of unsubstantiated rumor and Nivul Peh.

In the end the Chilul HaShem he makes on his blog diminishes the Kiddush HaShem he made in the YTT sex abuse case.

It's really too bad he's like that. He could have continued to be a force for good had he been a little more careful in his scatter-gun approach to justice. And just how much self control does it take to eliminate the kind of profanity he uses on his blog? This man has no dignity.

I wonder if the Rav and institution that gave him Smicha now regrets it.

As for losing my readership, I'm not too worried about it. My goal is to tell the truth where ever it may lie. I'm not going to worry about losing a particular faction because of it.

I stand by what I say about UOJ. I give him credit where it is do and criticize him where he warrants it.

I wrote about the specifics of my charge against him awhile back. I am not going to bring up innocent names so they can be unfailrly tainted again.

The person in Chinuch he villified and accused of bad behavior is still thriving... more than ever. He is personal friend of mine with impeccable credentials. He has been in Chinuch most of his life... well in excess of a quarter century. He was never during all that time accused of anything by any student. He has devoted students all over the country that to this day express loyalty to him.

One disgruntlred student accused him of something. It was never corroborated. No witnesses. No evidence. just her word. That's it. No other students ever came forward with anything like it at all.

Yet UOJ believed her. He felt no compunction in trying to smear his good name. Based on the testimony of a student that was dismissed from the school for cause.

Now you can say he's gulity all you want. But there was never a shred of evidence at all of any bad behavior agianst this girl. And not a single accusation ever made against him by anyone else in his over 25 years in Chinuch. Where does he get the right to make such an accusation? I happen to know this Mechanech andf know him to be as Ehrlich as they come.
He is a family man happily married for well over 25 years and has a wonderful family whose children love and respect him. All of them are happily married as well and have well adjusted families of their own.

Had this Mechanech had a predisposition towards bad acts he would have had many victims and many accusation over his long and distinguished career. There would have been ... something... rumor... inuendo... strange behavior ...a dysfunctional family... something. But there was nothing! I know him well and I can attest to his character, lifestle and behavior.

But UOJ doesn't know this Mechanech at all. He just believed the uncorroborted and unsupported accusations of an unhappy young girl who had recently been dismissed from that school.

    That is at best irresponsible.

There was never any follow up. never any proceedings . No court case no law suit... just an accuastion. One that could have easily ruined this good man. Fortunately it hasn't. Well over a year later he is tyill a very popular Mechanech with many students. And UOJ never brought it up again. He should have in the form of a public apology.

You think UOJ is a hero? In one famous case he was. But over-all. I have a hard time thinking of him as such.

Finally, You don't like the way I run my blog? that's your right. You don't have to read it.

  44. The number of Israeli seminary programs out there has skyrocketed in recent years. And so have the tuition costs.

Tuition in a typical girl’s seminary is $15,000 per year (without any discount). True, some of our high-school tuitions are that high also, but often parents do get some sort of break. And let’s not forget there are food and ticket costs, too.

Capricious, punitive and prone to violent rages -- particularly after knocking back a more than ceremonial amount of Sabbath wine -- Auslander's father was a genuinely frightening figure. He poured hot chicken soup over his older son's face and slapped and shoved him repeatedly for perceived impertinences, cursed and roared like a dybbuk and snored thunderously on the living room floor. A loner and a disappointment to Auslander's mother, who comes from a family of famous rabbis, the father found refuge in his workshop in the garage, where he built cabinets and bookcases "with less and less patience and more and more fury."

As a very young boy, Auslander tried to ease the household volatility in a variety of ways. At the dinner table, he distracted his father with droll Nixon impersonations and pratfalls. He helped his father in the garage, building a specially commissioned new ark to house their synagogue's Torahs. (The project ended in humiliation for both father and son when the congregation failed to appreciate their handiwork.) One by one, the boy's attempts to defuse the father's anger collapsed, fostering his own fund of bitterness and compelling him to seek distractions in the forbidden world beyond his community.

F.D.A. Is Unable to Ensure Drugs Are Safe, Panel Is Told
    By WALT BOGDANICH
The Food and Drug Administration cannot guarantee the safety of the nation’s drug supply because it inspects few foreign drug manufacturers and the inspections it does carry out abroad are less rigorous than those performed in this country, witnesses told a Congressional subcommittee yesterday.

While foreign companies manufacture as much as 80 percent of all ingredients used by American drug makers, the drug agency’s record keeping is so poor that it cannot say which of those have not been inspected, according to the testimony before the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations.

“More than nine years after we issued our last report on this topic, F.D.A.’s effectiveness in managing the foreign drug inspection program continues to be hindered by weaknesses in its data systems,” Marcia Crosse, director of health care for the Government Accountability Office, said in a statement to the committee.

The agency is supposed to inspect domestic drug makers every two years, but there is no such requirement for foreign suppliers, even though foreign factories are more likely to have quality problems, witnesses said.

At the current rate, the agency would take more than 13 years to inspect each foreign establishment once — and those are just the factories it knows about, Ms. Crosse said.

The chairman of the subcommittee, Representative Bart Stupak, Democrat of Michigan, said Americans had “dodged a bullet” because no one died from using Chinese toothpaste containing diethylene glycol, a poison used in antifreeze. But Panamanians were not so fortunate, Mr. Stupak added, when the same poison from China ended up in cold medicine, killing dozens.

“That can happen here, and it surely will,” Mr. Stupak said, unless the F.D.A. does a better job of overseeing foreign drug suppliers.

UOJ tackles all sorts of corruption including thievery too.

It is the general rot that provides an environment for abusers & enablers to get away with it.

Non-kosher food also causes timtum halev which accelerates the process.

BERKELEY, Calif., Nov. 1 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Federal employees requesting "whistleblower" status have less than a four percent chance of gaining protection via the legislation that was established to protect them, according to a six-month investigation by the Center for Investigative Reporting, published today in Salon.com.
Due this lack of protection, a vast majority of whistleblowers are open to retaliation, which can take the form of outright dismissal, reassignment, demotion, petty harassments and even forced psychiatric evaluations.
CIR's examination, of nearly 3,600 whistleblower court cases, along with dozens of interviews and a review of confidential court documents, reveals that America's whistleblower protection system--proclaimed as a cornerstone to openness, oversight and accountability--has in fact been used to punish employees who speak out, and serves little more than to dissuade others from coming forward.
The tactics of retaliation, the CIR report reveals, are insidious and pervasive:

-- Vernie Gee, Sr., was an agricultural inspector who blew the whistle on tainted meat in the U.S. food supply and inspectors taking bribes from slaughterhouses. After exposing the corruption, Gee was beaten up by plant workers during an inspection and then reprimanded for fighting.
-- George Randall Taylor was Chief of Police at a Navy Base in Bermuda. He exposed cover-ups of rapes on the base and was then forced into a psychiatric hospital.
Comprehensive whistleblower protections were first passed by Congress in 1978, but ever since, the whistleblower court system, set up to ensure federal employees weren't retaliated against for speaking out, has been widely considered a failure.
This fall, a bi-partisan group of Senators and Congressmen is considering a new law that could reform the system, but the Bush Administration has vowed to veto the legislation, citing threats to national security among its concerns.
"Whistleblowers are treated like a skunk at a picnic, and there's no excuse for it," said Senator Charles Grassley, the Iowa Republican, who has long sought stronger whistleblower protections. "It's whistleblowers who can help us truly understand problems at government agencies. They stick their necks out to speak the truth. They don't take the easy way out."

  56. It is not fair! Us victims of the Gerrer Mesifta are figuratively left to die on the side of the road with no justice and no apologies and no institutional shakeup and safeguarding policy for our own children. No fessing up for being wronged and used when it was no secret to administration as to what was going on for years. And now all of ger flocks in pilgrimage to the very same yeshiva to pay homage to the gerrer rebbi.
And what about us? G-d damned road kill that we are. We are an embarassment to the ger society. rejects, retards, some of us were told we were gay. Now what? What is to become of us?
Anyone care to answer on ger's behalf?

No, it's not fair. G-d works in strange ways, yet they are all just. But didn't the rishonim say that what one human does to another in malice is NOT predestined. So why are we left holding the bag.....over our faces in shame? One can never escape the past entirely. Saying "get over it" is not an answer.

With only 14 invited guests, Israel's most publicized circumcision was held in a tent in the exercise area of Rimonim Prison on Sunday, as Yigal Amir and his wife Larissa Trimbobler announced that the son of former prime minister Yitzhak Rabin's killer was named Inon Elya Shalom. The brit mila was held 12 years to the day after Amir assassinated Rabin following a pro-peace demonstration in what was then known as Kikar Malchei Yisrael.

Police and prison officials had prepared for days in case the Supreme Court okayed the circumcision. The planning was evident on Sunday as border police and mounted troops kept left- and right-wing protesters separated outside the prison.

The left-wing protesters had threatened to block the Amir family's entrance to the prison, but the heavy police presence thwarted their plans. Although protesters traded insults and waved placards, only one left-wing protester was detained for questioning after throwing eggs at his right-wing adversaries.

The Israel Prisons Service (IPS) announced in advance that it would allow 15 people, including the officiating rabbi, to attend the circumcision, emphasizing that the ceremony would be a "minimalist event." They forbade food or other celebratory touches. After an early-morning situation assessment, they decided that the ceremony would be held in a tent so that the location of the brit mila could not turn into a pilgrimage site for Amir's supporters.

Shia LaBeouf, 21, was charged with misdemeanor criminal trespassing after the "Transformers" star refused to leave a Chicago drugstore, police said Sunday. A security guard told LaBeouf that he needed to leave the Walgreens store because he appeared to be drunk, police said. When LaBeouf refused, he was detained. He is to appear in Cook County court Nov. 28. The actor is set to co-star with Harrison Ford in "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," due in theaters next year.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shia_LaBeouf

Shia LaBeouf was born in Los Angeles, California, the only child of Shayna (née Saide), a dancer and ballerina turned visual artist and jewelry designer, and Jeffrey Craig LaBeouf, a Vietnam War veteran who "drifted" from job to job, working as a mime at a circus and as a rodeo clown. LaBeouf's maternal grandfather, who shared his first name, was a comedian who worked in the Borscht Belt of the Catskill Mountains, and his paternal grandmother was a Beatnik poet and lesbian who associated with Allen Ginsberg. The name "Shia" is Hebrew for 'gift from God' and the surname "LaBeouf" is a variation of "Le Boeuf", the French term for 'the beef'. LaBeouf has said that he comes from "five generations of performers" and was "acting when [he] came out of the womb". LaBeouf's father is a Cajun (once described by LaBeouf as a "Ragin' Cajun") and his New York-born mother is Jewish. LaBeouf was raised in the Jewish religion and had a Bar Mitzvah. LaBeouf has described his parents as "hippies", his father as "tough as nails and a different breed of man", and his upbringing as similar to a "hippy lifestyle", stating that his parents were "pretty weird people, but they loved me and I loved them". LaBeouf's father used to grow cannabis, and the two smoked marijuana together when LaBeouf was ten. LaBeouf has also said that his father was "on drugs" during his childhood, being addicted to heroin and placed in drug rehabilitation for heroin addiction, while LaBeouf's mother was "trying to hold down the fort". His parents eventually divorced, and he had what he has described as a "good childhood", growing up poor with his mother (who worked selling fabrics and brooches) in Echo Park, Los Angeles, California.

LaBeouf has said that although he does not devoutly practice Judaism, he has a "personal relationship with God that happens to work within the confines of Judaism".
