Psak Halochoh

ISSUED WITH MESIRAS NEFESH FROM UNDER OUR BEDS IN THE REB MEIER AL Z. HEIMERS MOSHAV ZEKANIM

BS"D, Av 5767

We were appalled and trembling to hear of the terrible breach in our camp in the form of concerts featuring singers and chazanim who sing before men and women in mixed company Rachmono litzlan and even with separate seating, mamash.

Previous gedolei Yisroel totally banned these events - even though there were none, but in their infinite wisdom they knew that there will be many - even where there is separate seating (they can't fool us - we know they sit together in the car). As such we hereby state our combined ignorant and idiot opinion, which is based on irrefutable daas Torah.

A. Attending these performances is totally prohibited, because we say so -- even though we forgot to take our pills for two years at least - could be more - we just don't remember.

B. The prohibition applies to the organizers and the audience, young and old, middle-aged, senile, people in wheelchairs, people who use cains and walkers, the hearing impaired, fagelech, men, women, children, shul candy-men and rebbeim-- regardless of their sexual preferences.

All the more so on the singers and chazanim, who are inducing the masses to sin, mamash - Rachmana litzlan.

C. Newspapers and advertising circulars should not help by advertising these forbidden events, the transgressors call performances. Even the Jewish Press should restrain itself, if at all possible.

D. The singers and chazanim who appear before a mixed audience may not be invited to sing at any wedding or divorce, chap-a-nosh at the smorgasboard, mooch a free meal, take home the flowers, switch to a newer Borsalino at the coat-check room, steal a bencher, or take home a stranger's wife; nor can any event at which they participate be advertised, including tefillos and so-called kosher events, unsupervised fress Pesach events; in order to avoid lending a hand to these transgressors who we consider to be rishaim gemurim, like nothing ever before in klal Yisroel, ever, ever, aver, erva.

May Hashem Yisborach, in His great mercy and kindness, bring them to do teshuvah before Him - and us - by supporting Kupat H'air, and may we merit the eternal Redemption (not the phony Chabad kind), immediately - before the Kolko trial - azuz yimolei sechok peanuts...., vayihee b'yemai Achasvarush....

Signing for the sake of the sanctity, holiness and purity of our people, with trembling hands, spittle dripping out of our mouths, and with soiled diapers....

The tale of Gershon Kranczer, the Krancer aka Kranc-iz-er, 10

It is truly incredible and mind-boggling, a rational person would think that with the explosion of the Gershon der Krancer family incest scandal that was reported in all the New York mainstream media, such as the WSJ, NYT, NYP, NYDN, and by many others like REUTERS, JTA, and all over Google News, with a manhunt on by the NYPD, that one would see some sort of reaction in the Jewish papers. Predictably the JP had a brief sentence and the JW mentioned it in an article, but no one wants to call on Kranczer to hand himself in to the law and face the accusations or to call upon his obvious enablers who are helping to hide him in Israel after he secretly fled there almost a month ago.

A normal person would think that it would the rabbis who would lead a call to arms to cry out against this abomination done in the heart of Torah Jewry in Brooklyn in Flatbush and Midwood that is home to Americas oldest yeshivas, Torah Vodaas, Chaim Berlin, Mirrer, and many others, as well all the Rebbes, who all entrusted the vulnerable sons of their members and had "full confidence" in Rabbi Gershon Kranczer who was unfrocked to reveal a devilish sexual beast worthy of fathering Rosemary's Baby.

Does not the Torah screech "ubiarta hara mikerbecha" ("you shall purge the evil from your midst" Devarim. 13:6, 17:7) and that Hashem hates sexual immorality? A clear-thinking person would say that the most important thing in the case of Kranczer is to bring him to justice ASAP, not to cover up for him and to shelter him. To keep him away from all other Jews and kids he may contaminate, in the Holy Land where he is hiding out yet. To show that such behavior will not be tolerated, and to beseech God for mercy so that he not destroy everyone like Avraham beseeched Hashem not to destroy the despicable lascivious Sodomites with some innocents.

But wait, no, the rabbis have discovered the "real" problem, and it's not Kranczer or those aiding and abetting him, the real "villain" is............VIN, yup, a shmatte news blog that reposts articles of interests mostly to frum New Yorkers.

Not even clear what VIN's "crime" is, just that it has the audacity to succeed and posting news from all over the web, as if that was a "crime" worthy of a ban signed by who knows how many rabbis. America is not Meah Shearim and freedom of the press and of speech is guaranteed by the US constitution. Don't they have anything better to do? Or is that the ploy, to ignore real problems and catastrophes like Kranczer's incest scandal?

Even the YATED shows its chicken hypocritical colors. For years it ran huge in-your-face ads advertising for recruits for Kranczer's Yeshiva Tehila LeDovid ("tehila"? better: "bechiya"!) and it should now issue a huge apology and mea culpa, but so far no news reported about Kranczer's horrendous crimes of incest that are still rocking the Torah world, but yes to posting this silly "macha'a" against VIN. How stupid, retarded, immoral and amoral can they sink? pretty far it seems!

Child abuse - Rabbis & Calling the Police: A common misunderstanding

[Rabbi Dr. Daniel Eidensohn:] I just received the following comment from David Morris who wrote a review of my book - Child & Domestic Abuse - that he published on his blog Tzedek-Tzedek. It raises a very important issue - i.e., what are the parameters of consulting with a rabbi in these matters. I am posting the question - which expresses a misunderstanding of Rav Sternbuch's views - and my answer to the comment. My comment also appears on David Morris's blog Tzedek-Tzedek . This comment clearly indicates the dangerous ignorance and distortions that exist on this topic - and why it is important to read my book.

Shmarya Rosenberg (http://profile.typepad.com/6p00d83451b71f69e2) has left a new comment on your post "Child & Domestic Abuse":

What Rabbi Shternbuch actually says is that if there is "clear evidence" of child abuse, one should disregard any rabbi who instructed him not to go to police. But what about when there is evidence, but it isn't "clear" – meaning overwhelmingly certain – the person is guilty? Then you have to listen to the rabbi.

In other words, according to Rabbi Shternbuch, it is rabbis who should decide whether or not police should be called. And this is a big problem when rabbis have played key roles in so many coverups of sexual abuse.

Now why is it, David, that you don't mention this?

It is obvious that the commenter has not read the book or he would know that what he is asserting simply not true. He is making a misleading comment and it ignores the complex reality of abuse cases as well as overestimates the value of the police in being able to help. While there is no question that there have been cases and there are still cases where rabbis have insisted that a child not be helped even when in danger - that is not what Rav Sternbuch said as can clearly be seen from what he wrote and what he approved in my book - as well as what he told me and permitted to be publicized in his name. He said that you are to decide whether to listen to the rabbi and whether his response endangers the welfare of a child. He clearly said you do not listen to a rabbi if you feel there is a possibility that he is giving you bad advice.

Child abuse - Rabbis & Calling the Police: A common misunderstanding

    1) If it is clearly a immediate danger to the child and there is no time to speak to anyone - call the police.

    2) If it is uncertain if there is abuse but if the child is in danger than he can only be protected by the police - than call the police.

    3) If it is certain but you know that a complaint won't be filed and therefore the police won't do anything - then it is important to contact a rabbi who is experienced in these matters and consults with experienced therapists and community leaders and the police.

    4) If you have a suspicion - i.e., you saw a man hugging children or being very friendly with them - then go to the experienced rabbi. If you are not satisfied with his response than ask another rabbi (the responsibility is not the rabbi's but yours).

    5) If you have a child in your class that is withdrawn - but there is no complaint but it might be the result of abuse - then go to your experienced rabbi. You should also consult with a mental health worker who might advise what the next step is.

    6) If there is mandatory reporting - then you obey that law and go to the police.

In sum - the rabbi is not a substitute for your good judgment but is a consultant to help bring clarity and objectivity as well as protecting the rights of others. If he tells you not to do anything and you think that might be a danger to the child - than go ask another rabbi. At no time are you to allow a child to be in danger (according to your evaluation) nor are you to violate mandatory reporting laws. The rabbi is there to represent the community, provide objectivity and prevent against mob rule - and protect others against false accusation. He is not a dictator that requires total submission - either in deed or thought. You are not to listen to him if you feel he is telling you to do something which is endangering a child or even possibly endangering a child.

Rabbis turn in man suspected of Old City terror plan

By MELANIE LIDMAN AND REBECCA ANNA STOIL

    23/12/2010

Yeshiva student may have attempted to attack the Temple Mount; MKs squabble over Jerusalem rock-throwing attacks

Police arrested a young Jewish man in the Old City on Monday after they were tipped off that he was planning a terror attack, possibly on the Temple Mount.

The suspect was apprehended at the Ateret Yerushalayim Yeshiva, after a student alerted a rabbi that a man matching the police description was in a class. The rabbis immediately called the police and escorted the officers to the room where the man was learning.

The man was arrested with force and brought in for questioning, where it was determined he was mentally unstable.

He was then hospitalized in a psychiatric institution, and is currently undergoing evaluations there.

Police and the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) would not release information about where the man had allegedly planned to carry out the attack or how far along he had been in his plans.

“He didn’t fit in with the character of the yeshiva,” said Yosef Bruce, a director of the yeshiva, who noted that the man had raised suspicions when he started asking “strange questions.”

“The yeshiva is obviously against these types of actions and does not wish to do harm to anyone,” said Bruce. It was the first time that the man had come to the Ateret Yerushalayim Yeshiva.

Home to 250 students, the right-wing yeshiva was founded 30 years ago in the Muslim Quarter of the Old City.

Bruce noted that the rabbis received information from the police when they had specific intelligence about a suspect, such as in this instance.

“We all work together very well,” he said. “The rabbis and students at the yeshiva have a friendly relationship with the guards, and we try to make it peaceful.”

    A Greek Bishop’s Anti-Semitic Tirade

    By ROBERT MACKEY

    Updated | 7:19 p.m.

Leaders of Greece’s small Jewish community objected on Wednesday to televised remarks by a Greek Orthodox bishop who blamed the country’s financial problems on a conspiracy of Jewish bankers and claimed that the Holocaust was orchestrated by Zionists.

The Central Board of Jewish Communities in Greece complained to church authorities about the anti-Semitic remarks made by the Metropolitan Seraphim of Piraeus during an interview on Greek television on Monday, according to a statement (in Greek) on the group’s Web site.*

The Jewish Telegraphic Agency reported that the bishop “said that there is a conspiracy to enslave Greece and Christian Orthodoxy. He also accused international Zionism of trying to destroy the family unit by promoting one-parent families and same-sex marriages.”

According to the news agency, when the bishop was then asked, “Why do you disagree with Hitler’s policies? If they are doing all this, wasn’t he right in burning them?” he replied: “Adolf Hitler was an instrument of world Zionism and was financed from the renowned Rothschild family with the sole purpose of convincing the Jews to leave the shores of Europe and go to Israel to establish the new Empire.” He added that Jewish bankers like “Rockefeller, Rothschild and Soros control the international banking system that controls globalization.”

Greece’s Jewish community is ancient, but only about 10,000 Greek Jews survived the Holocaust.

The president of the European Jewish Congress, Moshe Kantor, called for the bishop to be fired in a statement sent to reporters on Wednesday. He added: “It is completely unacceptable that someone senior in a mainstream European religious denomination can make such repulsive and hate-filled claims.”

The American Gathering of Holocaust Survivors and their Descendants sent this statement to The Lede:

Holocaust survivors are aghast at the hate-filled remarks of Metropolitan Seraphim and call on the Greek Orthodox hierarchy to remove him from his position. We also demand that the Greek government prosecute him under its laws against incitement to hatred. Greece itself, which suffered grievously under Nazi occupation, is slandered by Metropolitan Seraphim’s bigotry. His remarks constitute a brutal assault on the memory of all Nazi victims, Jew and non-Jew.

Earlier this year, the bishop wrote to Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II to demand that Elton John be stripped of his knighthood for telling Parade magazine, “Jesus was a compassionate, super-intelligent gay man.” The bishop also complained to Britain’s ambassador to Greece about the singer’s “unacceptable and absurd” comment, which, he said, had caused “deep pain and bitterness.”

*Thanks to the reader who sent us a link to video of the complete interview with the bishop from Mega TV in Greece. Even non-speakers of Greek can clearly see the shock on the face of the television host (at about 13 minutes into the interview) when the bishop explained his theory of Zionist complicity in Adolf Hitler’s extermination of the Jews.

State of New York v. Civil Service Employees, 509925

    Decided: December 16, 2010

While petitioner's reluctance to reinstate Jackson is understandable, considering that he admittedly lost his temper and punched in the face a handcuffed child in his care, the public policy cited simply does not prohibit him from remaining employed in his position and it is not within this Court's power to "second-guess" the factual or legal determinations of the arbitrator

(As a result of this incident, Jackson was arrested and charged with harassment in the second degree. He pleaded guilty to the charge)

Koltun's lawyer, James Winslow, said his client, an ordained rabbi, is seriously ill and has suffered in the jail. Koltun arrived in court using a walker and oxygen, and wearing what appeared to be dark brown hospital-type scrubs. Winslow said Koltun has numerous ailments and requires 23 medications a day, not all of which he has been getting in jail.

Orthodox synagogues in Teaneck, Bergenfield & Brooklyn have had checks containing donations & membership dues stolen from their mailboxes in recent months.

Rabbi Steven Pruzansky of Bnai Yeshurun in Teaneck became aware of missing money this week, when a member received bills from the synagogue for items she had already paid.

The checks were endorsed with a fake stamp bearing the name of the synagogue – misspelled – & deposited in a bank in Clayton, Mo., then withdrawn in cash.

The scheme also claimed checks intended for Beth Abraham in Bergenfield & several synagogues in Brooklyn, starting in September, the rabbi said.

But there may be additional synagogues targeted that have not yet realized it, since the checks are deposited soon after they are mailed. Rinat Yisrael in Teaneck sent a letter to its members asking them to alert the synagogue if they sent checks that were deposited & then received statements indicating they have not yet paid.

New York State Assemblyman Dov Hikind told Fox 5 News that one check was altered from $250 to $1,250, and that postal investigators & police were looking into the matter.

The massive new tax bill signed into law by President Barack Obama is filled with all kinds of holiday stocking stuffers for businesses

Millions of homeowners, however, might feel like they got a lump of coal. Homeowners who don't itemize their deductions will lose a tax break for paying local property taxes.

Every year, taxpayers risk losing their favorite tax breaks, if they are not renewed. That's what happened to millions of homeowners. For 2008 and 2009, homeowners who didn't itemize their deductions were able to get an extra deduction — on top of the standard deduction — for paying local property taxes. Individuals could reduce their taxable income by as much as $500, couples could cut theirs by $1,000.

The provision, which has saved homeowners about $1.6 billion a year, expired for 2010 and was left out of the new tax law.

"A lot of Americans don't make so much money that they itemize their tax returns. But those same Americans own property," said Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., who sponsored the original tax break. "It seems to me that they, too, should have the ability to deduct it. It's a matter of equity."

Taxpayers who itemize will continue to be able to deduct local property taxes. About two-thirds of tax filers don't itemize.

I also heard he drove like a maniac, would pass using the shoulder, etc...I never saw it myself, but I hope it's not true. I remember spending a Shabbos there as part of an Epstein Shabbaton, and then going to a Saint Louis U. vs. Louisville basketball game after Shabbos at the old Kiel Auditorium in an old Metro Conference battle.... I think Louisville may have had Dr. Dunkenstein (Darrell Griffith)at the time. Kind of ironic a Yeshiva going to a Catholic University basketball game. I remember Louisville, as usual in those days, was highly ranked, but only won by a deuce against a subpar Billikens squad. Probably '77 or '78.

  33. Rabbi Kleiman is a real smooth talker. St Louis is home to the most Fortune 500 companies of any city and got them to come to his dinner. It became a status symbol for goyim. He gave honors to priests which is not allowed. The police were coming down all the time to question or detain guys in the yeshiva.

  34. UOJ,

Thank you for not including us in your list of "rabbis".

As long as we are out of the public scrutiny we will still be able to harbor molesters and reek havoc on our city.

With our help even more children in Ramat Bet Shemesh will be able to suffer in silence.

    Signed,
    Chaim Z. Malivonent

  35. At the time, perhaps St. Louis had the most Fortune 500 companies per capita of any other city. Certainly this is not the case anymore. We have lost Ralston Purina, Anheuser Busch, McDonnell Douglas, May Company, and General Dynamics among others.
