Chag Sameach!

תּוֹרַת ה' תְּמִימָה, מְשִׁיבַת נָפֶשׁ, עֵדוּת ה' נֶאֱמָנָה, מַחְכִּימַת פֶּתִי

"The Torah of Hashem is perfect, restoring the soul; the testimony of Hashem is trustworthy, making the simple one wise." (Tehillim 19:8-Pesukei D'zimra for Shabbos/Yom Tov)

The Agudah instead silently endorses street mob hooligans & encourages illegal minyanim to infect as many as possible

  3. R' Chaim Kanievsky has taken a turn for the worse with fever spiking higher + at least one severe unspecified covid manifestation. But the usual suspects are denying it and put out a picture of R' Chaim supposedly sitting with a sefer & having a jolly good time.

Now everyone hum along with grandson Yanky, the Kaminetzkys, Zweibel, Avi Schick & Litzman:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8n-PDVYgu4

    For he's a jolly good fellow ...

The melody originates from the French song "Marlbrough s'en va-t-en guerre" ("Marlborough Has Left for the War"), al sheim John Churchill, 1st Duke of Marlborough (1650–1722), based on a false rumour after the Battle of Malplaquet in 1709.

Beaumarchais used the tune in his 1778 play The Marriage of Figaro for a despairing love song for Cherubino.

It became a French folk tune popularized by Marie Antoinette after she heard a royal maid singing it, the peasant woman Geneviève Poitrine who was nanny of the dauphin Louis XVII. Poitrine was retrospectively accused of transmitting tuberculosis to the infant prince, thus causing his death at age seven. So in the coronavirus era of deliberately infecting through yeshivos & shuls, maybe this song can become the new Agudah Haftorah for Simchas Torah.

The melody was used to represent the French defeat in Beethoven's composition "Wellington's Victory" Opus 91 written in 1813. Napoleon liked to hum the tune, for instance when crossing the Memel (June 1812) at the beginning of his fatal Russian campaign.

It became as popular in England as in France. Statesman Johann von Goethe came to hate Marlborough simply on account of the prevalence of the tune he encountered during travels in France.

Shafran matzdik Fresser misbehavior in usual arrogant form:

A prominent (sic) rabbi said New York authorities’ failure to engage the community’s leaders caused the angry protests in national headlines this week.

Agudath Israel's Avi Shafran told The Times of Israel that adherence to health guidelines “fell 'somewhat' to the wayside” because people felt the crisis had passed.

Shafran suggests it took Haredim longer to internalize the virus was again on the rise.

“It's easy to become complacent. It's human nature,” he said.

“Once the 'uptick' was confirmed, things began to change,” Shafran said, pointing to improved compliance in the community with masks in the last few days. (What a mechutzef!)

“Had the governor & mayor truly engaged Orthodox leadership in good faith, things would be very different from the anger we see now,” Shafran said, referring Tues-Wed night riots vs virus restrictions.

The measures imposed by New York restrict businesses, worship & schools where infections climb. Affected areas are Orthodox & some accuse authorities of singling them out for enforcement.

1000s of Haredim participated in Boro Park demonstrations descending into violence. Demonstrators assaulted members of their own community, who they accuse of reporting violations to authorities.

Cuomo announced restrictions solely on virus clusters in areas flouting existing virus safety rules.

There's an average 659 COVID patients in hospitals statewide the past week, up from 426 for week ending Sept 6.

A few areas disproportionately drive the uptick in 20 hotspot ZIP codes.

To take effect Fri — a day before Simchat Torah — the rules apply to parts of Brooklyn-Queens & Orange-Rockland enclaves of Haredim.

Agudath Israel filed a federal lawsuit Thurs, calling the policy unconstitutionally discriminatory vs religious practice.

Shafran calls the measures “utterly unreasonable.”

He also took issue with Cuomo singling out “Orthodox Jews” in press conferences, saying the briefings & “media headlines-photos are all irresponsible when deadly violence vs Jews is still vivid in recent memory.”

Shafran highlights a front page New York Daily News headline: “Oy, Revolt,” plastered on a protest, along with a quote from a Haredi who said, “In Boro Park, we don’t go by laws of America. We have our own laws.”

He calls the tabloid an “unruly child” & the front page layout “typical irresponsible, yellow journalism.”

Shafran acknowledged adherence to guidelines is unlikely to draw headlines, but declaims what he calls "tendency in the media to zero in irresponsible actors, even if they’re the minority."

He said lack of compliance in 'some parts' of the Orthodox community could be due to “right-wing radio belief among many Haredim, as talk show blowhards claim, the virus is a hoax or exaggerated.”

Protest organizer Heshy Tischler claims figures from officials on infections are falsified.

Police turn a blind eye to lockdown violations by Haredim at shuls in Modiin Illit, according to a leaked call published between a police official & reps of an extremist sect.

Following publication of the story, police said an inquiry was opened into the officer.

Charedim10 News published a transcript between a police officer & member of hardline Jerusalem Peleg Faction. A recording of the call was then broadcast by Channel 12, who identify the officer as Modiin Illit Police Chief, Tzahi Halfon.

Halfon's heard urging worshipers not to fight with police if they arrive & heavily hinting they can do whatever they want once cops leave.

The conversation didn't have the desired effect, Channel 12 said, reporting clashes broke out between the hardliners & police because congregants refused to disperse when cops were called to a shul where prayers were held.

“You know I don’t come to shuls” to bar prayers, Halfon says in the call. “I didn’t send patrols on Yom Kippur. I didn’t come yesterday.”

“Between us, you know I’m not trying to harass,” Halfon goes on. But says he has no choice to send a cruiser “the moment a citizen calls to complain.”

Halfon then explains what those breaking rules should do if officers arrive.

“A police car comes? Come on, that’s no problem. You don’t want to listen to the officer? That’s ok. I only ask when police come, get out of the shul. The moment they listen to the officer & disperse, we don’t mess with the shul. Understand between the lines what I tell you.”

“I understand very well,” the extremist responds.

Responding to publication of the recording, police initially said Halfon misspoke, but insisted he at no point suggests police turn a blind eye. However, on Thurs night, police said Halfon had been summoned for an inquiry.

The news follows a report by Haaretz that ahead of Sukkot, Jerusalem police made a deal with some extremist communities, under which they could hold mass events despite lockdown on condition they not be publicized.

That report, which police adamantly deny, is based on 2 Haredi insider sources.

According to the report, Chief Superintendent Shimi Marciano of Habira station near Mea Shearim, spoke with Hasidic leaders ahead of Sukkot & came to the agreement.

Representatives of Toldos Aharon, Toldos Avraham Yitzhak, Dushinsky & Slonim participated in the talks.

The sides agreed communities can hold events, including Simhat Beit Hashoeva attended by 1000s & police won't interfere despite such events being banned under lockdown — on condition no documentation of what goes on is made public.

As a result, while police carried out high-profile enforcement in Mea Shearim, making arrests amid violent confrontations, officers totally ignored mass events within meters of the clashes.

Haaretz reported Thurs that covert understandings were also reached with Belz & Vizhnitz. The report said those communities have approval to hold big events for yeshivas in “capsules,” but that many others join.

The report quoted a police source saying the events can't be stopped. He denied outside people attend.

  8. That's it! This is becoming an international embarrassment!

I've been getting staff complaints for months that Shafran runs in the crapper at 42 Broadway & locks everyone out for what seems like a Yovel. They hear that Jolly Good Fellow niggun coming out whenever he's in there. When I had a sit down with him, he was vehemently denying it's him, farentfering that the building has poor soundproofing, it's zicher from some French sounding dude.

Fallsburg yielded somewhat to Philly but draw the line where they feel ol' Shmuel is off his rocker

הרב אלי' דוב וואכטפויגל שליט"א said that the רבנים should say over בשמו that it is a 'vildkeit' to have yeshivishe hakafos and he has cancelled hakafos in his Yeshiva. He said (that while in the collective Philly-Fallsburg opinion) the z'chus hatorah protects limmud hatorah and tefilla - it does not extend to (everything like out of control Philly contends to even include) yeshivishe hakafos.

  13. To all naive people who try justifying Meir Chadash. He was a product of Slabodka yeshiva. I am probably older than most people posting here, so listen, boychicks: Former Slabodka students (while still alive) shared with me how they spent their free time — they read Guy de Maupassant’s stories and had sex with Lithuanian whores! Not everyone, but many, many men, unfortunately! Can you think of taking a photo with your bride as Chadash did? Or keeping Hitler’s moustache as him? So why do you stand with a ruler to measure the distance between his cheek and her hair, his jacket and her blouse? Or will you say that they lived in a different world? The frummies who put out his photo were fully aware of the problem, that is why they named his bride ארוסתו — not yet a wife but already more than a bride (no English equivalent). Chadash, like many yeshiva students of his time, never planned to be a rabbi. But the topsy-turvy century and the Holocaust forced these boys to man up. Some were sincere, others just faked it all their lives. Kotler, for example, was crazy and left Slabodka for some time, stopped being religious, they had to send Yaakov Kemenetsky to get him back. The fact his sister championed secular studies made Kotler go against any non-Jewish education which, in turn, created an army of yeshiva boys who can’t even earn a decent livelihood. Ruderman, of Lubavitch pedigree, was known as a mentally challenged man in his hometown. Nobody could believe he became a rabbinic leader in the US. The Lubavitcher Rebbe, while in Paris, was at times bareheaded and lived outside the Jewish neighborhood — and went to operettas with his wife! There are many more examples like these. And look at their kids: Kotlers with their real estate schemes, Kamenetsky anti-vaxxers, Weinbergs (Rudermans) pedophiles... no kids for the Lubavitch Messiah-King!

Rav Paul Mendlowitz said many times that you must follow God, not people. Try to accept that not all rabbis of old were as holy as Artscroll presents them.

  14. Dear Rav Mendlowitz, what’s you take on Zabulon Simantov being made to give get over Zoom? All I know is that questionable Pinchas Goldschmidt (with “a case of single malt scotch”) and savage Moti Kahana were behind that. And that using Zoom for such purposes is very unclear in Halachah. Since you are one of the true poskim of this generation, do you think “the Sydney Tribunal” did the right thing?

  15. Hi --- I have to research exactly how this was done. IMO There would have to be - A sofer mumcha in Gittin who was appointed by the husband -

1 - an appointed shliach from the husband to physically give his wife the Get...

2 - The wife would have to have a designated shliach (or in person) to accept the Get in front of 2 witnesses.

There would have to be 2 witnesses that visually see her acceptance of the Get willingly.

Please describe what actually transpired and what happened over Zoom.

  16. As the Gemora in Gittin states: Sefer cursa, v'ain dovor achar cursa" So IMO there would have to be a physical giving of a Get ---

  19. If you are familiar with the slimy rabbi who was kicked out as NYPD chaplain for stealing police cash, farkoyfs himself as a weapons consultant for shul security, and who is constantly switching between Orthodox & Conservative depending on where he can make a buck, there is someone even worse than him in kashrus. The worse one was imported from out of State by the son of Moshe Tuvya Lieff to give hashgocho in Brooklyn.

It's one thing when the worse one protects molesters & crooks which is also a Lieff habit. And a second thing when he helps manufacture mamzerus which is also the forte of such 'luminaries' as rabbis Mendel Epstein, Gimpel Wolmark, Yisroel Belsky, Hershel Schechter, Nota Greenblatt, the Kaminetzkys, etc, etc, etc. But it's another thing that he & his father are frauds who both hide the many years they were in Conservative shtellers.

This rav hamachshir has been Conservative for much more of his life than he's acted the Orthodox part. That doesn't stop him from operating a Vaad Hakashrus & from lately at age 83 also being a regional chief for the Star K. None of his children from 3 wives are frum. They are Reform.

He was an actor in a disgustingly prusta movie released in 2006 about someone bringing home a zoyna to his mishpocho's Pesach Seder !!!

He has a bizarre history. His father, an Ingrisher named Jeno, was Chazan in Croatia, Czechoslavakia, Denmark, Sweden (the son works for Star K under his Swedish name), Newfoundland & Montreal.

The son left Montreal for cantor roles through the 1960s, including at Temple Ramat Zion in Northridge (1967) & Temple Judea in Tarzana, Calif. (1969). He was still cantor in freya places as recent as at least 1987, if not later!

Before or during marriage to 3rd wife named "Giborah", he, according to his own description, ended an off the derech phase to become a BT. At that point he started a Jewish orchestra. His older completely unfrum brother is a famous NYU professer.

The zeyde was Chazan in Nitra but it's sketchy how frum even the father Cantor Jeno was because he went to a fishy sounding cantorial school in Vienna & he came back from Israel at the end of his life to be Conservative cantor in a San Diego temple.

  20. Which Mendlowitz was a cheder rebbi? Was R' Shraga Feivel ztl himself at one point? Or a son or nephew?

R' Fishel Schachter is getting mileage out of a Mendlowitz mayseh that the unnamed cheder rebbi had a talmid Boruch who vaksed a rosh kollel when he grew up. When he was in his 50s a stroke put Boruch in a coma. Boruch says that his cheder rebbi Mendlowitz came to him bachaloim that he once forgot to give him a chocolate bar he was promised for asking a good kashya. So he went in front of Beis Din shel Maylah to ask they overturn the psak that he die in the coma. Heyos a yingel has tzaar when he doesn't get a chocolate bar he was promised, that tzaar should be bimkoim misah. The Beis Din agreed. R' Fishel says a kal vachoimer for those with bigger tzorus than being shorted on a chocolate bar.

Has the Mara d'Asra ever heard this before? I hope it's true. I hope R' Fishel doesn't have an imagination. Because if it is true it's zeyer vichtig.
