...And Everyone Stood Around And Watched As Our Rabbis Murdered Thousands Of Innocent Jewish Children!

Statement in part from OHEL Jewish Family Services - New York:

...."Uncomfortable as it may be, we are now -"forced" - to be more open and confront this painful discussion; child molestation is a serious problem. Hundreds if not thousands of children, teens and adult survivors have been victimized"....

  1. True that Hitler taught Lipa Margulies everything he knows. True that Margulies in turn trained his Capos (Yaakov Applegrad, Lipa Geldwirth, etc.) who now continue this great tradition.

But; what is wrong with the parents who send their children like sheep to the slaughter? How can any parent with a modicum of humanity expose their children to these people?

Brooklyn: How can you allow this disgrace to continue?

Yudi Kolko is due back in criminal court again on Nov. 1st.

On Aug. 2nd, John Doe #4 requested an order of protection from YTT. Gee, could it be because of threats orchestrated by Margo / Belsky? A short order form was granted on Aug. 17th.

Unless there is a typo on the State website, Margo had an attorney appear in court on his behalf - YESTERDAY - on Simchas Torah. Another one of Belsky's acclaimed heterim? Margo's crew is due back again for JD #4 on Oct. 30th and JD #5 on Nov. 7th.

ORTHODOX Jewish community leaders have branded a warning from environmental health officials about the religious slaughter of animals in places of worship "surprising" and "insensitive".

Rabbi Abraham Pinter, the former head of Yesodey Hatorah schools in Stamford Hill, said that the community was confused about why the guidance was issued ahead of Yom Kippur, the Jewish Day of Atonement last Saturday, even though the council had not received a single a complaint of animal cruelty for two years.

The traditional atonement ritual of kaparot involves grasping a live chicken by the shoulder blades and moving it about a person's head three times, symbolically transferring one's sins to the to chicken, which is then slaughtered and eaten at the pre-Yom Kippur feast.

Rabbi Pinter said: "There is no slaughter in places of worship. It is a lot of rubbish."

"I have no idea what's going on. All animals are dealt with by businesses which have licences."

"It seems like environmental health can make up a statement with impunity.

"The council should be more sensitive about what can create tensions in a harmonious community."

Between January and June 2000, at least 300 of the nation's 46,000 Catholic priests were removed. Two hundred more were removed later.

South Florida was not exempt. In a 2007 report titled ''Protecting God's Children'' on its website at www.miamiarch.org, the Archdiocese of Miami says that since it was founded in 1958, allegations of sexual misconduct involving minors have been made involving 49 priests out of the 4,433 priests who have served in that time.

It said its insurance programs have paid to date $26.1 million in settlement, legal and counseling costs linked to 129 claims involving priests, laity and religious brothers and sisters.

In a letter with the report, Archbishop John Favalora said the archdiocese now complies with the reforms decreed in June 2002 by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops in regard to reporting allegations of sexual abuse to civil authorities. And he said the archdiocese set up a Safe Environment Program and appointed a Victims' Assistance Coordinator to ensure the safety of children. He said the archdiocese has fingerprinted nearly 20,000 church employees, volunteers and clergy members who have access to children.

Aventura attorney Jeffrey Herman said he filed about 50 lawsuits and has settled about 40 of them for amounts ``well into the millions.''

''I think the church's response is driven by financial exposure,'' he said. ``Even after the scandal hit, there were priests they weren't coming clean about. Things are certainly better now, but I continue to get calls on recent cases.''

  8. I wonder if alcohol played a part in this? If Chabad in Sherman Oaks is anything like the many Chabad Houses and synagogues I've seen, most if not all of the male attendees were probably drunk and the children were probably lightly, if at all, supervised – a near-perfect environment for a molester to operate in.

    Shalom Auslander

Tempting God's wrath, he'd steal candy bars, clothes, records and raunchy books. He rarely got caught; mall guards were eyeing honest black kids while the white Auslander stuffed designer jeans under Hasidic garb. At the Metropolitan Talmudical Academy (YU) High School in New York, he skipped class to visit peep shows, combing the red-light district for sex toys and drugs.

Auslander doesn't truly commit to overcoming his dysfunctions.

In the end, he orders a first-birthday cake for his son, Paix, but he can't refrain from a snarky inscription:

"From Mommy, Daddy ... and no one else in our families because they are bitter miseries who'd rather drag us into the morass of their bleak, tragic lives than share for a moment in our joy. And many more."

Even the most empathetic reader can't help thinking, "Get over it!"

Warning to men in Boro Park: Ohel Family Services has in the last few years been getting many government grants. One of them was for the purpose of opening a domestic violence center. In order to justify the money they receive Ohel must ensnare woman to come for counseling under the pretense that they are being abused. Ohel hires social workers and counselors and makes a nice fee off this. Once they sink their claws into the woman they don’t let go very easy because this is a major profit center for them. It can evolve into profit from divorce counseling, children counseling and the list goes on.

Here are the signs to look for if you suspect that your wife is getting involved with Ohel.

Modus operendi: The counselor will first try to get the woman to get her own cell phone so she can contact her discreetly. The counselor has the woman call Ohel at 718 851 6300 and leave a message for the counselor. The counselor will then call back with the appointment time probably when the husband is at work so he wont find out that they are sucking in his wife. Ohel will not come up on the caller id. The caller id will come up as 646718. If you see that your wife has called 718 851 6300 and then has a call back of 718646 you will know that she is in touch with Ohel and you better take action before its to late. Ohel will give her articles, books and lists of items to convince her that she is being abused. You will then hear her use words and talk in ways that she was not familiar with before. Watch out for these signs. Warning your wife could be involved with Joan Hertz of Ohel Domestic Violence.

This is being published for the benefit of the Jewish Community by Ohel Insider. I hope to post more information about Ohel and names of its counselors in the future. Anyone else that has information should also share it for the benefit of the community. This is a major scandal ready to break open. The Rabanim are unfortunately all quit about this. Some are paid fat salaries by Ohel to condone what they do.

    by cindy naas

I was married for 20 years. I have four sons, and until three years ago, we were Orthodox. Orthodox as in my boys wore “the uniform” — black pants and white shirt — had long payes and went to the most religious day school in our city. We would have been called ‘ultra-Orthodox’ by some media.

Five years ago, my husband of 20 years told me that he thought he was transgender. He said from the time he was young he had felt different, but had tried to become just like everyone else. He saw marriage and a family as a way to prove to himself and others that he was just like every other Jewish man.

The next two years were a real struggle for us, and finally the marriage broke apart. His depression and the anger he felt at his condition were taken out on me more and more often. I had nowhere to turn, either. After all, things like this don’t happen to Orthodox Jews.

I tried once to bring this up with a rabbi, who advised that I join a study group devoted to shmirat halashon (literally, “watching the tongue”) and try harder to keep from making my husband angry with me.

Three years ago, the marriage finally fell apart. I had to go through the humiliation of trying to convince a rabbinical court to help me with my get. I was forced to tell my story including the most intimate details of our life together. The first rabbi I spoke to told me that he could deal only with my husband. He also told me I needed counseling, because a normal woman would never make up lies like this about her husband.

Finally, I got my get, but sadly, a month later my husband committed suicide. That was horrifying, a painful time for my children and for me. A few days after the funeral, I discovered that in fact he was not transgender but gay. I talked with his partner, who told me I needed to be tested for HIV.

The boys and I became pawns in his life of pain, anger and deception. Because he felt it was impossible to be an Orthodox Jew as well as a gay man, my life was placed in danger.

I have a friend who writes extensively about gay issues, and he calls the wives and children in such marriages “collateral damage” — we are the wounded in a war not of our own choosing.

After his death, the whole story came out in the community, and we were no longer accepted. Many people wouldn’t allow their children to play with or even speak to my boys at yeshiva, and so eventually we just dropped out of everything, from school to shul.

My marriage was miserable for the entire time we were married. Obviously my husband wasn’t happy, but felt that living with another man was not acceptable because of his religious beliefs.

I am not a part of the gay community, but I am no longer a part of the Orthodox community, either. I just couldn’t stay after being told that my children were undesirable and that my husband was a pervert.

My sons are not gay, and having a gay parent did not make them change their orientation. However, my children are not much interested in being religious Jews any longer.

For the sake of his own mental health, Auslander hasn’t spoken to his family in years. In the book he describes them unsparingly, though with fleeting hints of affection. One person who does get a pass of sorts is Auslander’s uncle, the longtime president and current chancellor of Yeshiva University, Rabbi Norman Lamm.

  14. Dear UOJ.
The reason that you must do an investigation into Ohel and expose them is because most people are not smart enough to read between the lines of the article. They will not understand this themselves like a seasoned person as yourself. It is not enough for them to read the article like you claim and they will draw their own conclusions. The potential damage they can suffer by going to Ohel is tremendous. You must investigate the qualifications of the social workers and therapists at Ohel and post the information with their names so people will know with whom they are dealing. UOJ surely has enough connections and readers that can eamil UOJ all the information needed about Ohel so a headline post can be formulated. This is Pikuan Nefashos UOJ. Every day foster children, whole familles and older people that have problems are being harmed. The community goes to Ohel because Ohel puts themselves out as the one stop for all orthodox Jews. The real truth is that Ohel is a big money making business and the clients are their profit center. Whenever there is a problem in the Jewish community who makes sure to be featured as a speaker?? Ohel representatives. Ohel wants everyone to think they will take care of everything just give us your money. We cant stand by while incompetent social workers destroy peoples lives.

Around his neck is a metal chain with the Hebrew word "Acher," literally "Other One," a reference to his hero, Elisha ben Abuya, the first-century rabbi who was excommunicated for heresy.

His wife, Orli, a tanned Londoner with a decidedly less contentious relationship with the Holy One, has more affinity for Jewish tradition than her husband.

Auslander lives in a town that due to its association with a certain music festival — the real Woodstock happened in nearby Bethel — has become a magnet for social misfits of varying stripes.

Auslander concedes that his mother may see the book as a public humiliation, but claims to feel no remorse.

Orli, on the other hand, is clear-eyed on the subject of Auslander’s mother.

"She’s a complete bitch," Orli says.

Auslander’s anger has all the subtlety of a pit bull.

Auslander says the writing was a cathartic process, though not a curative one.

"It was cathartic in the sense that I think it’s time believers got pissed off at God," he says. "And if I can hasten that movement along, I’ll be very happy with myself."

  26. Interpol in rare global appeal for Web pedophile By Mark Trevelyan
Sun Oct 7, 8:09 PM ET

LONDON (Reuters) - Interpol on Monday launched an unprecedented worldwide public appeal to track down a man shown sexually abusing children in images posted on the Internet.

The man appears in around 200 photographs featuring abuse of 12 young boys, which investigators believe were taken in Vietnam and Cambodia, possibly in 2002 and 2003.

The pictures had been digitally altered to disguise the man's face with a swirly pattern, but computer specialists at Germany's federal police agency, the BKA, worked with Interpol's human trafficking team to produce identifiable images.

The global police body said it was making the unique public appeal because, despite extensive efforts through its network of 186 member states, the man remained unknown.

"For years, images of this man sexually abusing children have been circulating on the Internet," Interpol Secretary General Ronald Noble said.

"We have tried all other means to identify and to bring him to justice, but we are now convinced that without the public's help this sexual predator could continue to rape and sexually abuse young children whose ages appear to range from six to early teens."

Photographs of the man are available on Interpol's Web site, www.interpol.int and anyone with information on him is urged to contact their local police or Interpol's human trafficking unit.

Anders Persson, a Swedish police officer seconded to the unit, told Reuters the dark-haired man in the photos was thought to be a European aged around 35-40.

He said a child abuser seeking contact with like-minded individuals on the Internet would sometimes post pictures of himself in the act of abuse as a kind of "ID card" to prove he is a genuine hard-core pedophile.

The inquiry began when the first pictures of the man were found by German police in 2004. A link to a Vietnamese hotel emerged from advertising material seen on a bedside table in some of the pictures, Persson said. But checks against passport photos of people on the hotel's guest list drew a blank.

Other photos were taken at outdoor locations in Cambodia that were recognized by police there.

Interpol runs a huge database of images of child sex abuse and uses sophisticated software to find connections between them, even analyzing tiny details like wallpaper and fabric patterns in apparently anonymous indoor settings.

Now containing more than 520,000 images submitted by 36 member states, the database has helped police identify and rescue nearly 600 victims from 31 countries to date

As we all know the majority of those who sexually perpetrate crimes against others, often have histories of being violated themselves as children. One has to wonder if this is true in the alleged cases of both of the Tendler boys (Mordecai and Aron).

LIFE IN A JEWISH ORPHANAGE: ONE CHILD'S STORY
    By Mordecai Tendler
    http://www.torah.com/orphanage.html
(The Awareness Center's Daily Newsletter - Posted: Mon Sep 29, 2003 3:34 pm)

Child abuse is very common in today's society and in all cultures. However, it has now become very common among the Jewish Orthodox families, which has never happened before to such a degree. These abused children are very well taught not to talk Loshon Hora (bad things about other people) especially against their immediate families. The children learn to honor their fathers and their mothers as well as other adults. A child who is physically, emotionally, or sexually abused by a parent or other authority figure, would likely not tell anyone. She is afraid to tell anyone, and keeps her emotional scars to herself. It is a HiluI Hashem (an embarrassment to G-d). In the past, child abuse was a form of discipline, but today, a parent, or any caregiver who abuses a child would end up in jail.

This story is about a Jewish-Orthodox child who was severely abused by authorities and when she complained about this abuse, she was told to listen and behave. She suffered from her injuries so badly that it put her into the hospital's intensive care and neurological unit more than once. This abuse took place in a Jewish-Orthodox orphanage, where she grew up and lived for eleven years under the supervision of a very disturbed Holocaust survivor who imagined that our heroine was her child who had been killed by the Nazis. The supervisor also instigated some counselors to use Ahuva as a human target. Ahuva channeled her energies towards constructive activities: writing a daily diary, athletics, playing the accordion, volunteering in hospitals, helping in the orphanage's infirmary, studying, sewing, knitting, crocheting, and helping other children.

The author turned her miserable life around to a very fulfilled life which gave her joy and an outlet for her pain. When Hashem (G-d) gives you a mission you find the strength to value life and not commit suicide. She wanted to live a normal, healthy, secure life with her loving mother and loving siblings, who were always there when she needed them. Her goal for writing this book is to instill her strength to those who are suffering the same fate that our heroine experienced. Her message is: love life and go on in a constructive manner. Walk with your head up high, and look for your rainbow. Amen.

LIFE IN A JEWISH ORPHANAGE: ONE CHILD'S STORY is a very poignant and emotional depiction of the trials and tribulations found by an unusual child in a series of unfortunate circumstances. This book presents the philosophical message of the ability of one's inner strength or obstinate belief to triumph over trying events. Readers can readily find this book both fulfilling philosophically and religiously rewarding.

O.J.'S ROLEX RETURNED BECAUSE IT'S A FAKE: Goldman's thought they could sell it for $22,000; turns out it only cost $125.

After Fred Goldman's attorneys successfully sued to get O.J. Simpson's Rolex watch, the timepiece will have to be returned after it was found to be a cheap imitation.

According to TMZ.com, the Goldmans thought it was worth as much as $22,000 and intended to sell it with money going toward a largely unpaid $33.5 million wrongful death settlement.

However, an appraisal from San Francisco jeweler Shreve & Co.
concluded it was worth only about $100. Simpson had told his lawyer, Ronald Slates, he paid $125 for it. The watch's low value qualified it as an exemption. Cook said Goldman will comply with the ruling and return the watch.

A jury acquitted Simpson for the murders of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and Fred Goldman's son Ron Goldman, but a civil court found the ex NFL-star liable. So far, Simpson has paid very little of the $33.5 million judgment.

Topps Meat Goes Out of Business

After one of the largest beef recalls in U.S. history, Topps Meat Company said it's going out of business effective immediately.

Topps had just recently began a recall of frozen hamburger that was expanded to nearly 22-million pounds.

Fear of contamination with E.coli was raised after federal inspectors discovered inadequate safety measures at its New Jersey plant.

Investigators think 30 people may have been sickened in eight states.

Topps meat had been in business since 1940.

    Got Milk? said...
A new issue of The Journal of Halacha and Contemporary Society (RJJ Journal):

The Kashrut of Commercially Sold Milk by Rabbi Michoel Zylberman
A "very important article" (in the words of controversial YU musmach Rabbi Gil Student) in which the author outlines the complex halakhic issues and opinons regarding the incidence of treif cows and the implications to milk. It is certainly going to be opposed by the "Kashrus Karaites" (Gil taking a swipe at R' Yudel?) who are uncomfortable with relying on chazakos (presumptions), sefeikos (uncertainties) and bitul (dilution).

Zylberman learned in Kerem BeYavne (hesder) & YU's Kollel Elyon. He is currently in charge of geirus for the RCA beis din. The Israeli Rabbanut no longer accepts RCA geirus because a number of RCA rabbis are pushing through suspicious candidates

    http://www.haloscan.com/comments/hirhurim/1507092303667451312/

Readers of Gil's blog ask him if he's still drinking (cholov stam) milk despite R' Hershel Schechter's problems with it. Gil says he is since R' Hershel's talmidim who are roshei yeshiva still are.

    http://www.haloscan.com/comments/hirhurim/1507092303667451312/#545928

I was at last year's AskOU week-long kashrus seminar. Rav Shachter refused to say that milk was treif- he just didn't know why it was kosher. He didn't come across as a kashrus karaite to me, though. There's nothing karaitic about questioning a chazakah that clearly isn't true anymore. You yourself would say that in a case of displaced abomasum, the chazaka that cows don't live for 12 months when they have a hole in their stomach is disproved by modern discoveries. So why should the modern discovery of the fact that most milk cows are treif when they're schechted be automatically discounted since it flies in the face of classic assumptions?

Thanks to genetic inbreeding for certain desired characteristics, our dogs, goldfish, and cows are not nearly as hardy as their ancestors. We would rather lose a few cows to heat than have our cows healthier but stingier in terms of milk production. I drink milk, and chalav stam to boot (I have a sensitive stomach, and chalav stam just lasts longer), but I would hardly call those who disagree "Karaites"

There was a statistical analysis of the question of milk and the nature of rov on the yu torah site by R. Glickman that was taken down. his talmidim said he wanted it down because he didn't want to publicly disagree with RHS whom he acknowledges as his own posek. This seems dishonest to me but typical of the yeshiva world.

One point that I don't recall anyone highlighting is that Gil mentions that a friend of his came to him anonymously in an email and told him he must help him stop UOJ. Gil was a little dismayed when he later learned his friend's identity and wondered why he just couldn't be upfront.

How much do you want to bet it was the bungalow putz?

Speaking of Neuhoff, the putz ends the last post on Tuvya's blog by being mekalel anyone who helps UOJ with the possuk of Shem Reshoyim Yirkav.

What a smug hypocrite. That's the possuk said on reshoyim like his former boss Margo who are mesarev beis din. The putz also probably doesn't know vos shteit in seforim that someone who throws out a klala could see it bounce back on them.

Neuhoff was reportedly told by R' Aron Schechter to ignore Belsky and cut it out already with the Tuvya gig.

So why doesn't the PUTZ take down the blog?

  51. Okay, I'm tired of beating around the bush. I'm a beautiful (spectacularly beautiful) 25 year old girl with a Bais Yaakov background and yichus. I'm articulate and classy. I'm looking to get married to a guy who makes at least half a million a year. I know how that sounds, but keep in mind that a million a year is middle class in New York City, so I don't think I'm overreaching at all.

Are there any guys who make 500K or more on this board? Any wives? Could you send me some tips? I dated a business man who makes average around 200 - 250. But that's where I seem to hit a roadblock. 250,000 won't get me to Central Park West or East 84th. Maybe it could get me to Back Lawrence or Hewlett Harbor if there's no broker fee. I know a woman in my Kosher Gym class who was married to an investment banker and lives in Mill Basin, and she's not as pretty as I am, nor is she a great genius. So what is she doing right? How do I get to her level?

    Here are my questions specifically:

    - Where do you single rich men hang out? Give me specifics- shuls, restaurants, Agudah conventions ...

-What are you looking for in a mate? Be honest guys, you won't hurt my feelings

-Is there an age range I should be targeting (I'm 25)?

    - Why are some of the women living lavish lifestyles in Upper Manhattan and the 5 Towns so plain? I've seen really 'plain jane' boring types who have nothing to offer married to incredibly wealthy guys. I've seen drop dead gorgeous girls sharing crowded apts up in Riverdale and Washington Hts. What's the story there?

    - Jobs I should look out for? Everyone knows - lawyer, investment banker, nursing home operator, doctor. How much do those guys really make? And where do they hang out? Where do the hedge fund guys hang out?

    - How you decide marriage vs. just a girlfriend? I am looking for MARRIAGE ONLY

Please hold your insults - I'm putting myself out there in an honest way. Most beautiful women are superficial; at least I'm being up front about it. I wouldn't be searching for these kind of guys if I wasn't able to match them - in looks, heimishkeit, sophistication, and keeping a nice home.

    THE ANSWER
    Dear Frumster ID# XXXXX:

I read your posting with great interest and have thought meaningfully about your dilemma. I offer the following analysis of your predicament. Firstly, I'm not wasting your time, I qualify as a guy who fits your bill; that is I make more than $500K per year. That said here's how I see it.

Your offer, from the prospective of a guy like me, is plain and simple a crappy business deal. Here's why. Cutting through all the B.S., what you suggest is a simple trade: you bring your looks to the party and I bring my money. Fine, simple. But here's the rub, your looks will fade and my money will likely continue into perpetuity...in fact, it is very likely that my income increases but it is an absolute certainty that you won't be getting any more beautiful!

So, in economic terms you are a depreciating asset and I am an earning asset. Not only are you a depreciating asset, your depreciation accelerates! Let me explain, you're 25 now and will likely stay pretty hot for the next 5 years, but less so each year. Then the fade begins in earnest. By 35 stick a fork in you!

So in Wall Street terms, we would call you a trading position, not a buy and hold...hence the rub...marriage. It doesn't make good business sense to "buy you" (which is what you're asking) so I'd rather lease. In case you think I'm being cruel, I would say the following. If my money were to go away, so would you, so when your beauty fades I need an out. It's as simple as that, azoy vee shtayt batla hadavar .... So a deal that makes sense is dating, not marriage.

Separately, I was taught early in my career about efficient markets. So, I wonder why a girl as "articulate, classy and spectacularly beautiful" as you has been unable to find your sugar daddy. I find it hard to believe that if you are as gorgeous as you say you are that the $500K hasn't found you, if not only for a tryout.

By the way, you could always find a way to make your own money and then we wouldn't need to have this difficult conversation.

With all that said, I must say you're going about it the right way. Classic "pump and dump."

I hope this is helpful, and if you want to enter into some sort of lease, let me know

  52. Brooklyn, NY - A seven-month-old boy sleeping in a crib was killed Shemini Atzeres when a fire ripped through the top floor of his family's Brooklyn home at 604 East 3rd Street and Cortelyou Road.
Tuvia Goldman died after his frantic mother, Raysa, was unable to fight through the choking smoke and reach the attic of the Kensington house in the minutes after the blaze erupted at 11:20 a.m.

"The mom went upstairs, but she started choking and her sister pulled her downstairs," said a neighbor who declined to give her name. An FDNY lieutenant also said that they were trying to get a child out, but I guess it was just too late.

Fire investigators believe the deadly blaze was sparked by a faulty timer that was rigged to an air conditioner in the baby's third-floor room.
The Goldmans are Orthodox Jews, and since it was the Shemini Atzeres holiday, religious beliefs prohibited them from touching any electrical equipment. Instead, they had set up a timer to run the air conditioner.
The timer, purchased 10 days ago and connected to the air conditioner with an extension cord, was not meant to be used with such a powerful appliance and was quickly overloaded.

The E. Third St. 25x40 frame 2.5 private dwelling also did not have any working smoke detectors, an FDNY official said.

Raysa Goldman, a school principal, and her husband, Nalhan, ran through the smoke and safely evacuated their other five children, all under the age of 12, neighbors said.
More than 60 firefighters, Hatzolah members worked the scene, which was deemed under control shortly after noon. No other injuries were reported.

The child, who was born on the feast day of Purim, will be buried next week in Israel after the Succoth holiday ends, neighbors said.

To Rabbi Mordecai and Michelle Tendler

How does it feel to be on the other end of the stick?
Michelle, I don't know if you went along with your husband's schemes with regard to Ohel or just that the money was so good it gave you nachas to be wealthy ? Did you have no remorse when children were ripped apart and put into adoption homes? Was it easy for you to take children away from parents you felt were not real bal teshuvas? You now know your past will follow you to the end of time. I strongly believe your actions are worse than your husbands. The person who does the action is worse than the person who gives the orders. The person who gives the orders can be refused by a person that is being a mensh. You Mrs. Michelle Tendler followed the orders. You had a choice. You performed the actions of a vile human being, your husband, the rabbi of wealth and fame. Yet privately, he was a sexual predator on woman of different ages. Yes, you are correct, "of different ages." Your children have been disgraced by the deeds of your husband. But you and I and the group you ordered also to make actions against innocent families and planning to take their children away know you are of tremendous guilt. Was it the money or was it the power of life and death. You felt there was a reason. Did you need to feel powerful? Was it not enough your husband made large amounts of money from women who wanted gets? Come forward. Confess to the families your sin. If you wait till your judgement day you will find the souls you ruined will not forgive you and you may never go to GAN-EIDAN. This is a reason we have Yom Kippur, to remind us to ask forgiveness to the people we have sinned. Each year Ha Shem keeps us alive is one more year to ask the same people and new people we sinned against to forgive us. Mrs. Tendler, we do not live forever nor do we know when we must leave and await our fate. Mrs. Tendler come forward now and admit your plots to take children away from their parents. I beg you for the sake of the children that were destroyed and their families and the shame you put upon them by having your community to accelerate the loshon harah that your congregation imposed on these souls admit your guilt. Is it worse to be punished here or the next life? Your time is running out. Make no mistakes. There is a baby girl that died that couldn't see her mother because of what you did to her parents. I myself cannot forgive what you have done. As long as you pretend your soul will never be forgiven.

    Thou Shalt Not Steal
    The Jerusalem Report - Jerusalem
    Author: J. J. Goldberg
    Date: Oct 16, 1997
    Start Page: 40
    Section: Jewish World
    Text Word Count: 2308

The indictments are only the latest in a long list of criminal cases involving prominent Orthodox figures accused of financial abuses. Many of the allegations involve use of religious institutions as conduits for - and perhaps beneficiaries of - illegal profits. "It's the single most talked-about subject in Orthodox circles these days," says Rabbi Avi Shafran, public affairs director of Agudath Israel of America, a leading Orthodox advocacy group. "People are walking around ashamed."

A special section was devoted to the topic in the Summer 1997 issue of The Jewish Observer, Agudath Israel's English-language organ. Prepared well before the [Bernard Grunfeld] or [Dov Hikind] indictments, the magazine's cover features a picture of the 18th-century ethical text Mesilat Yesharim with a $100 bill tucked inside the cover. Inside is a series of homilies by leading ultra-Orthodox rabbis on the importance of ethical business conduct, under the general heading, "Of Integrity and Kiddush Sheim Shamayim," or sanctifying God's name. The lead article, "The Crisis Is Now," by Rabbi Aaron Brafman of Yeshiva Derech Ayson in Queens, argues that Jewish history has followed a cyclical pattern of expulsion, rebuilding and expulsion, with each new crisis touched off by a grave sin that characterizes a generation. "What might the sin of our day be?... I submit that the new sins to be concerned about are those of geneiva and gezeila - dishonesty in monetary dealings," wrote Brafman, whose school was among those investigated, but never charged, in a federal embezzlement probe in the early 1990s.

The Jerusalem Report has learned of at least a dozen current or recent legal cases involving criminal or civil allegations of financial misconduct against leaders and institutions in the ultra- Orthodox community in America. Allegations against hasidic and non- hasidic groups include drug-money laundering, banking and currency code violations; embezzlement of federal and state funds; insurance, investment and charity fraud; and misuse of federal student aid, housing assistance and small business loans. Hasidic sects whose officials or institutions have been implicated include Belz, Bobov, Ger, Lubavitch, Munkacs, Satmar and Skvir. A handful of cases have resulted in convictions or guilty pleas; most are pending.

Ironically, one of Agudath Israel's featured speakers at a yearly gathering two years before was David Schick, an Orthodox investment counselor, who lectured about ethics in business. He also chaired that Agudath Israel of America national convention. A year later he himself, notes the Jewish Week, "was accused of swindling at least $150 million from hundreds of Orthodox Jewish investors ... in a massive real estate investment scam...[His] potential cooperation with law enforcement authorities is sending shivers throughout the frum [Orthodox] world because of potential involvement by the Internal Revenue Service into investors who used unreported cash in the investment scam."

    An Aid Cutoff for Seminaries
Education Department says 21 Jewish schools were never eligible for aid; they vow to fight
    By Scott Jaschik

Washington, D.C. -- The Department of Education took action last week to remove 21 Jewish seminaries from federal student-aid programs.

The department said that the seminaries, whose students have been receiving about $8-million a year in federal aid, had never been eligible for the assistance. Officials also said that a number of the institutions might have engaged in fraudulent activities, such as seeking aid for students who had not enrolled.

But the officials did not name those seminaries.

Officials at 7 of the 21 institutions strongly denied that they had violated any regulations. Herman Wagschal, administrator of the United Talmudic Academy of Monsey, said the Education Department was "using Judaic schools as a scapegoat."

He vowed to fight the department in court. "We are not going to lie down and let them run over us."

The remaining institutions declined to comment, did not return phone calls, or had no listed telephone number.

The 21 seminaries are all Orthodox institutions offering education in Jewish studies, rabbinic training, and teacher education. Several also educate recent immigrants from the former Soviet Union.

Two of the seminaries in the group of 21 -- Beth Medrash Eeyun Hatalmud and Bnai Arugath Habosem -- are among a group of four that the Education Department has already charged with more serious violations of the federal rules, such as obtaining Pell Grants in the name of people who never enrolled. The other two are Beth Rochel Seminary and Toldos Yakov Yosef Seminary. The seminaries have denied the charges.

Bernard Fryshman, executive vice-president of the Association of Advanced Rabbinical and Talmudic Schools (FAARTS), said, "We are desperate at the manner in which our name has been associated with things that shouldn't be taking place. Many people are being very, very loose about the way they are talking about this as rabbinic schools."

Mr. Fryshman's association is the main accrediting group for rabbinic education.

Institutions Ineligible for Federal Student Aid
Following are the institutions declared by the Education Department to be ineligible for federal student aid. All are in the metropolitan New York City area except for the Western Institute for Traditional Studies, which is in Los Angeles.

  71. Does anyone know if the cozy little arrangement has ended whereby Gary Rosenblatt disguises Marvin Schicks paid ads as op-ed pieces?

I haven't noticed them in a while and you can bet that Gary is sleeping with one eye open and picks up all the murmurings about him.

State Senator Eric Adams plunged into the revelry, learning traditional Jewish customs from his close advisor, Rabbi Moshe Rubashkin, the head of the Crown Heights Jewish Community Council.

Eager to become involved in the Jewish community, he joined the crowded dancers and learned a few moves, crediting Rubashkin for his expertise.

Moshe Rubashkin, Chair of the Crown Heights Jewish Community Council, hosted a brunch reception for community leaders at his President Streethome this morning, honoring newly elected New York State Senator Eric Adams.

At the brunch, Rubashkin welcomed Senator Adams to the community, who was joined by members of his staff. He told the audience how he looked forward to working in partnership with the Jewish community, which supported him in the November election.

Senator Adams, who recently retired from the NYPD as a captain, will represent CrownHeightsin Albany. The Senator remarked how he is fortunate to be elected at a time when the Democrats are only a mere few seats away from taking the majority in Albany.

The Senator has hired Reuven Lipkind, a member of the Jewish Community, to serve as his community liaison. The brunch was MC'd by Rabbi Shea Hecht, Chair of the Crown Heights Political Action Committee and Yankel Wice, a community liaison and counsel to Council Member Letitia James, who also attended the brunch and addressed the guests.

Felon Elected To Head Council in Brooklyn
    By E.B. Solomont
    March 18, 2005

A convicted felon has been elected leader of a government-funded Chabad-dominated community council in the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn.

Despite serving a 15-month jail term for bank fraud, Rabbi Moshe Rubashkin captured 71% of the 1,208 votes cast in the recent election to head the Crown Heights Community Council. The council, a nonprofit group, receives $1.9 million per year in public funds to provide social services, including food stamps and affordable housing.

Some voters told the Forward that they hoped Rubashkin, a popular TK, would help bridge divisiveness in their community.

"I voted for Moshe Rubashkin," said Chanina Sperlin, a longtime committee member. "Moshe Rubashkin is a fine man. Moshe Rubashkin loves to help Jews, and more than a Jew, a Jew who needs help."

Rubashkin pleaded guilty to bank fraud in July 2002, according to court records obtained from the Eastern District Court of Pennsylvania. He served a 15-month jail sentence, and is currently serving a five-year probation term.

Rubashkin's victory was first reported last week in Newsday. The vote took place January 31.

His supporters praise him for clothing Israeli yeshiva students and for welcoming needy Jews to his annual Purim celebrations.

City councilwoman Letitia James, whose Brooklyn jurisdiction represents parts of Crown Heights, was one of several elected officials who attended a Sabbath dinner at Rubashkin's home following the election.

"I believe in the democratic process, and he received the overwhelming support of the Crown Heights community," she said.

James noted that convicted felons may legally run for government-funded groups and that Rubashkin's past had been disclosed to voters. "Who am I to judge?" she said.

"Moshe Rubashkin served his time and is moving on in society," the observer said. "The real story is that he is a practical guy who wants to heal internal divisions in Crown Heights." (with fistfights?)

Still, the community group is taking pre-emptive measures. According to a spokesman for Rubashkin, the new community council head "will not be involved in the dispersement of checks out of an abundance of caution." (so what changed?)

The spokesman, who asked not to be identified, said that Rubashkin is "related to the family" that owns the AgriProcessors meatpacking plant in Postville, Iowa. He declined to elaborate.

The plant has been the target of a recent advertising campaign launched by the animal rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. The group, known as Peta, has claimed that the plant was employing inhumane slaughtering practices.

    AgriProcessors has denied the allegations.

Note the Forward left out Moshe and Aaron Rubashkin's convictions for defrauding a union:

Kind of strange when you take the Forward's pro-union background into account.

The Rubashkins collected union dues from their employees but did not turn the money over to the union – the Rubashkins kept it for themselves.

I wonder if the Forward editor JJ Goldberg's friendship with Chabad leader Rabbi Zalman Shmotkin has anything to do with the Forward's weak coverage of Chabad?

Sources inform ''Globes'' that Shaya Boymelgreen has decided to make structural changes in Azorim Investment, Development and Construction Ltd. (TASE: AZRM). Boymelgreen will return to Israel to become active chairman of Azorim, rather than run the company by remote control from the US. He will manage the company from its offices in Tel Aviv in an effort to restore capital market confidence in the company.
Sources added that Engel CEO Mati Dov will be appointed acting CEO of Azorim, replacing CEO Amikam Oren, whom Boymelgreen has fired after only five months on the job. Dov will become the permanent CEO of the company. Boymelgreen noted that at least ten other exectives would be let go as well.

Responding to reports regarding his financial strength, Boymelgreen insisted "I wll not allow anyone to take advantage of me just because I am the "new kid on the block".

Boymelgreen bought Azorim from IDB Holding Corp. Ltd. (TASE:IDBH) in September 2006 at a value of $440 million.

Many of you have probably noticed the stale smell and taste of machine shmurah-matzos this year. Some people got really angry about it and decided to get to the bottom of the matter. So far here is what has been found out:

A certain distributor (still unknown) bought up all of last years Haddar and Glick’s matzos after Peasch, at about 4 pennies on the dollar. This year he sold them as fresh matzo. My guess is that he even saved himself the freezing costs. Haddar claims they know nothing – but swear they had nothing to do with it. Unfortunately for them, among their customers –or, more precisely, among the crooked distributor’s customers – were a few top-notch attorneys who got really ….., well angry for their Seder being spoiled in such a way. So now either Haddar spills the beans, or they will have to face Mr. Cuomo Jr.’s wrath – and ambition to prove himself a good anti-capitalist corporation-eater. (Don’t hold your breath though for him to go after child molesters – that’s not glitzy enough). However, all matzo manufacturers will probably be forced to properly code & date their products from now on.

Cholov Yisroel could use a bit of that, and the meivin should yavin.

The scoop on Cholov Israel is that they put on them much longer than real dates. Of course, the spilled (or spoiled?) milk, especially for large hassidic families, is net profit for Ahava Dairy. But no one complains because most of them are on WIC and food stampps. BTW they get regularly fined for this by the USDA but the profits override the fines.
