The Simon Wiesenthal Center’s building, slated to be 4 times larger than Yad Vashem, is already an imposing presence as it readies to open next year. But is it also an imposition?

Inside the exhibit spaces, the museum’s backers promise a new, cutting-edge museum experience, along with a lavish sprinkling of Hollywood style.

A troubling phenomena in recent days is an abundance of fraudulent entry permits to Israel. People seeking to enter Israel hook up with individuals who promise to ‘arrange’ permits for a sizable fee. The “arrangers” promise the permits look ‘real & legitimate’.
They appear authentic, so airline officials overseas allow the passenger to board flights to Israel. However, upon arrival in Israel, the fraud's immediately uncovered. Passengers are prevented from entering Israel & are deported to point of origin. Furthermore, their passports are stamped as banned from entering Israel for 5 years.
Rabbi Nechemia Malinowitz of the Igud of Yeshivos & Seminaries said at least 7 people were deported to the US after arriving in Ben Gurion Airport yesterday with fraudulent permits, on top of at least 50 people deported in the past week.
Meanwhile, authorities are investigating the source of the fraudulent permits to take legal action against those involved in printing the fake permits, including criminal prosecution.
Authorities add they believe dozens of people bought fake permits for entry on Lag Baomer & every action's being taken to prevent this from occurring.
Rabbi Paysach Freedman, CEO of Chaim V’Chessed said, “Askanim receive calls each day from deportees. Unfortunately, when they hold fraudulent documents it's impossible to help them. These instances of fraud cause terrible chilul Hashem. Furthermore, it causes authorities to look askance at legitimate permit-bearers. Many obstacles thrown in the way of travelers to Israel are due to preponderance of document fraud".
Numerous categories of travelers can now receive permission to enter Israel.

A former Obama White House aide was arrested today, accused of stealing more than $200,000 from a charter school network he founded.
Seth Andrew, 42, who served as senior adviser to Obama, was charged with 1 count of wire fraud, 1 count of money laundering & 1 count of false statement to a bank, the US Attorney for the Southern District of NY announced.
Andrew, who was arrested in NY, was senior adviser in the White House Office of Education Technology under Obama. The complaint was unsealed today & he's slated to appear before a magistrate later today.

The man suddenly slapped the boy’s face with great force, waved him around & threw him to the ground like a rag doll.

Chaim Deutsch was automatically expelled from his NYC Council seat after pleading guilty to tax fraud, according to Council Speaker Johnson: “Based on the charging document & Chaim Deutsch’s plea, the Council's concluded the office of 48th Council District's been vacated under operation of law. Deutsch confessed to a crime & violated his oath of office. He's no longer a member of City Council.”
Conservative-Democrat firebrand Deutsch was elected to the Brooklyn legislative post in 2013 & served ever since.
The pol — one of the most independently wealthy Councilmen — pledged to divest his real estate, where he made from $100,000-$249,999 on top of $148,000 Council salary, ahead of a new law forbidding councilmen to receive outside income.
On Thurs however, Deutsch pleaded guilty to federal tax evasion on falsified returns he filed 2016-2018.
As per prosecutors, Deutsch stole $82,076 owed to the feds.
“Councilman Deutsch admitted he defrauded the IRS with his real estate,” US Attorney Audrey Strauss said following the guilty plea.
Now-former Councilman Deutsch long portrayed himself a champion of law & order, aligning with pro-authority factions of govt on policing & prosecutions.
Deutsch agreed to a penalty of money owed + interest & faces max 1 year prison, 1 year supervised release & max fine of $100,000 in addition to restitution.
Johnson said Deutsch violated NY's Public Officer Law §30(1e), auto-ejecting an office holder from their post if the person committed a crime “violating his oath of office.”

Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul (D) has launched an investigation into reports of abuse by clergy and faith leaders in the state.
The Wisconsin Dept of Justice said it will conduct an “independent & thorough review” of sexual abuse claims committed by faith leaders in the state, regardless of when they occurred.
The dept will provide survivors with confidential means to obtain support as well as ways for people to report what they know about sexual abuse & attempts to cover it up.
The agency seeks information from survivors / advocates and will ask for documents from dioceses & religious orders in the state.
According to a local ABC affiliate, the investigation began with the Catholic Church but extends to other faiths.
“The people of Wisconsin, especially victims, deserve an independent review of clergy & faith leader abuse. With this initiative, we seek to ensure survivors of clergy & faith leader abuse have access to needed victim services, to prevent future cases of sexual assault & to get accountability to the extent possible.”
