A prominent Orthodox rabbi has been caught on tape discussing his apparent love affair with a shikse that was converting to Judaism -- whom he allegedly also pushed to have sex with his friends. Rabbi Leib Tropper of Rockland County is heard encouraging pretty, blond Shannon Orand of Houston to participate in phone sex and actual sex with men the rabbi knows, including one he calls "the Satmar guy. Tropper, who calls the woman "darling" and "cutie pie," talks about his own love affair with her at one point, saying: "I want to squeeze you. He also fantasized about rape. "I could role-play a rape with you but I couldn't actually rape you -- you know what I'm saying, darling -- does that make sense?" he asks.
The scandal has rocked the Orthodox community from Rockland County to Israel, and transcripts of the sex tapes are circulating on Jewish blogs, with the audio posted on YouTube. The rabbi talks about paying Orand money for a lawyer and a stipend of $1,300 for the month of November. He also mentions putting in writing an agreement between the two.
"Why would you want to document that kind of agreement on an e-mail?" an upset Orand asks. Orand, who identifies herself on the tape, apparently recorded the phone conversations. "It was only supposed to go to a few leading rabbis," Orand, 32, told The Post. She refused to comment further, and later released a statement saying, "While an individual 'rabbi' acted in an inappropriate manner, my desire to become a bona fide Jew is undeterred. Orand reportedly told a Jewish blog, failedmessiah.com, that Tropper would tell her: "If you fulfill my needs, I'll fulfill yours -- and you need a conversion.
The blog reported that Orand's conversion was to have been finalized last week, but was canceled at the last minute by a religious court. Tropper declined to comment, but a source close to him said the rabbi feels like he's a victim and was used by Orand.
He resigned effective Dec. 12 from Eternal Jewish Family, a Monsey-based organization that primarily works to convert gentiles in interfaith marriages to Judaism. The 59-year-old rabbi is the founder of Eternal Jewish Family and sought to create strict universal guidelines for conversion, which are handled differently by various Jewish sects.

By virtue of the fact that the abovementioned organization (EJF) involves itself in matters of conversion to actively influence gentiles to convert which is against the traditions of our community from previous times, and there is a concern for a breach of the walls of our faith in Europe, and by virtue of the fact that the leaders of this aforementioned organization caused a desecration of the Divine Name and a disgrace to the name of the Orthodox Rabbinate throughout the world in recent weeks, we the leaders of the Kehilos HaKodesh in Europe call upon the organization called the Eternal Jewish Family to cancel their planned seminar. If they do not heed our request we call upon the Rabbis that were invited to the seminar not to participate with them and to guard themselves from entering there.

Interview with Conference of European Rabbis Rav Dunner Speaks Out Against EJF

The Conference of European Rabbis is the primary Orthodox Rabbinic organization in Europe. It was founded in 1956 on the initiative of British Chief Rabbi Sir Israel Brodie, and its current executive director is Rabbi Aba Dunner. All the chief Rabbis across Europe joined the organization, and attended its first conference in Amsterdam. It is now run by a standing committee of 25 members which meets twice a year, and just met in Moscow. The Five Towns Jewish Times and VINNEWS spoke with Rabbi Dunner in an exclusive interview concerning the recent statement by the Conference of European Rabbis about the EJF (the Eternal Jewish Family).
Interviewer: Firstly, can you tell me about the Conference of European Rabbis?
RD: We are an umbrella organization of all the Chief Rabbis in Europe ranging from Dublin to Kazikstan. They turn to us for guidance. It was designed to prevent the non-authentic forms of Judaism from entering Europe.
Since then, the Conference of European Rabbis has been active in four main areas. The office in Brussels deals with combating anti-Semitism, and attempts to stop Shechita. There is also a “Lo Tishkach” department identifying the 20,000 Jewish cemeteries and mass graves in Europe and to protect them. The fourth area is to establish a Bais Din in areas where they do not have them in order to stop what we call, “Cowboy Geirus and Gittin.”
INT: What else does it do?
RD: We also have a department that builds Mikvaos. A Rav without a Mikvah is like someone with one hand tied behind his back. How can a Rav discuss Taharas HaMishpacha without access to a Mikvah? This is something else that we do.
INT: One would think that there would be worldwide condemnation against Leib Tropper, the former leader of the EJF, and its organization - yet there is virtually nothing. Why is that?
RD: We are amazed why it is. We unmasked this organization and the chap who ran it, I would not call him Rabbi - before this scandal.. We found him to be a control freak and a megalo-maniac, we found him to be so disrespectful of Rabbanim that there was a unanimous vote of the standing committee to make sure that he and his organization do not enter Europe.
Having a seminar of mixed intermarried couples to convert is so bizarre - this was all done in order to gain favor with their sponsor.. We decided, en masse that we wanted nothing to do with EJF .. We are amazed that the Gedolim have not come out against this. We do not understand this at all.
I will press and will continue to press very hard to continue to ensure that this organization ceases from its nefarious activities.
INT: Are you aware of any improprieties by this organization in terms of pushing onto the batei Dinim questionable Geirus?
RD: I have heard stories from America in this regard, but do not know firsthand. I have found the tape to be so terribly shocking, however, that anything can be.
INT: Have you experienced this organization undoing a proper Geirus?
RD: I have only heard that they do such things but do not know of anything for certain. I like to know names and facts before I take a stand on something as serious as this.
I have no idea what their criterion [for geirus] is, if a geirus came in we would make inquiries. We do know of certain unscrupulous batei dinim - there are questionable rabbonim. We look at the geirus that comes up on the table.
This EJF was a random organization, a private organization by a miniscule Rosh Yeshiva in Monsey. What are we talking about here? He has no experience. It is a private organization that got numerous people involved in it for reasons that we all know.. He tried to assume authority and dictated to people what they can and cannot do.. I don’t know why Mr. Tom Kaplan would do this..
INT: Are you convinced that these tapes are legitimate?
RD: Yes, absolutely. I heard the tapes, I know his voice. They are absolutely, totally, and completely genuine.. The whole thing is sick. Never in my entire klal life did I ever experience anything like this. It is quite sick I am 72 years old and, unfortunately, I was exposed to these tapes. I had to hear things that never in my life I would thought to hear. To think of the person and what he did. So unbelievable and so terrible!
INT: But what about the possible good work that he may have done here? Should we throw out the entire organization because of what he did?
RD: Yes, absolutely. Mendelson translated the Tanach into German. He was an apikores. I once asked my father (Rav Dunner‘s father was the head of Keddassiah)- He said, “Abba, it is Assur, this is apikorsus any work that he has done has apikorsus in it..
The same goes to an organization that has been founded by this depraved individual.. He has no right whatsoever to have a Yeshiva.. He is a man that should stay home and be happy that nobody stones him. The same goes for his organization..
Let Mr. Kaplan put his money into Jewish education. Schools are dying because of this economic situation. That is the future of Klal Yisroel.. He could do so much more with his money. The amount of money that has gone down through this black hole is sinful.. Don’t pollute our Jewish world with this type of organization..
INT: What would you recommend American Rabbonim do in the meantime?
RD: They should organize themselves and come up with an alternative method of evaluating geirus.. There are very capable and fine Rabbonim in America. They are quite capable of doing it themselves and working it out themselves. I am sure they can do that to put their house in order.. They should not take money from such an organization..
INT: What in your opinion should Rabbis do who have accepted money personally when they attended these EJF Conferences?
RD: If someone got personal money they should give it to tzedaka, as being part of the backers of EJF - they should immediately give it away. Not back to the EJF.
But chas veshalom they should put it in their pockets..
They should also write a letter to EJF and say, “We want nothing to do with the organization and the funds we received we are forwarding to the following tzedaka organization.. The mosdos of chinuch.” If there is all that money, it should be given to a useful purpose..
INT: Are there any other statements you would like to say regarding this situation?
RD: I call upon every single Rav in America to look at themselves in the mirror and say to themselves:
“Did I do the right thing [in taking EJF money]? For the sake of Chillul Hashem we should show that when the truth comes out, we should say we made a mistake. We know the truth - a genuine mistake. We were wrong. We therefore say, “EJF goodbye! Close down. We don’t need you.” and say to Tom Kaplan, “Please use your money for education.” - That is my call to them..

This is a no brainer for me. Man of the Decade: The (Un)Orthodox Jewish Blogger. Nothing has changed the conversation in Orthodoxy more than he has. Nothing has impacted the Jewish people more than he has. Nothing has brought more change for the better than he has. Even for those who say that the contributions of the (Un)Orthodox Jewish blogger has been mostly negative, they would have to concede the enormity of his impact.

It is hard to imagine a more embarrassing situation in which to find an exclusive ultra-Orthodox organization - a group that was a standard-bearer in the fight against "breaches in the wall of conversion" and "the penetration of complete gentiles into the vineyard of Israel."
These breaches pale into insignificance in comparison with the accusations against the man who heads the organization itself: according to the claims, Rabbi Leib Tropper of Rockland County abandoned the apparently stringent Halakhic standards of his Haredi organization and established a conversion process based on his most private impulses.
A report in the New York Post earlier this week revealed a sensational story about "a prominent Orthodox rabbi has been caught on tape discussing his apparent love affair with a shiksa he was converting to Judaism."
The woman involved is 32-year-old Shannon Orand of Houston, who still seeks to convert from Christianity to Judaism. The bulk of the report deals with embarrassing comments that the rabbi made during a phone call, during which he was recorded demanding the woman perform a number of sexual services for himself and his friends in exchange for granting her a conversion certificate.

HAARETZ: U.S. rabbi involved in sex scandal led fight against Israel conversions
Rabbi Tropper's stated goal in founding the Eternal Jewish Family was to "fortify the walls of conversion," amid an ideological debate between the Haredi and national camps in Israel. While functioning as a well-known rabbi in the New York area and head of the Kol Yaakov yeshiva, Rabbi Tropper enlisted wealthy Jews in the Haredi fight against to non- ultra-Orthodox conversions, especially those carried out by special conversion courts in Israel headed by Rabbi Haim Druckman.
As such, the doors of senior Haredi officals were thrown open to him, including that of Rabbi Shalom Elyashiv, a leader of the Lithuanian Haredi sect, and rabbi Tropper himself had the title of gaon ("most learned") bestowed upon him by the ultra-Orthodox press - all because of his efforts and comments against conversions by the Conversion Authority, against the "infiltration" of gentiles into the people of Israel.
When news of the affair began to emerge two weeks ago, posters denouncing Tropper were plastered across the Haredi city of Bnei Brak, whose title commanded: "Leave impurity." The text's anonymous authors threatened that if he did not quit the organization, "We will publicize our voice aloud, accompanied by pornographic pictures and shocking video clips." The rabbi did indeed announce his resignation, but failed in his efforts to hush up the affair.
It was leaked to American Jewish bloggers, the audio tape was posted on YouTube, and the Post published the story (under the headline "Tal-mood for love: Sex-tape rabbi tries to 'share' hottie," referring to one of Tropper's demands in the tape).
The current scandal is not the first in which the Eternal Jewish Family and Tropper have been involved. Tropper recently accused Aguiar of assaulting him in a Jerusalem hotel in April while the rabbi served as a prosecution witness against the businessman in a civil suit in Florida. Aguiar - who recently resigned from the organization - is accused of entering Rabbi Leib Tropper's room at the David Citadel Hotel, assaulting him and threatening to cause him further harm.
At the time of the alleged attack, Tropper was testifying at Aguiar's trial on embezzlement charges brought before a Florida court by the businessman's uncle, Thomas Kaplan.
As part of a war of slander between the pair, a notice was published in the Haredi newspaper Hamevaser, according to which rabbis close to Aguiar gave up their stringent halakhic demands with regard to his wife. The notice alleges that the businessman is "married to a woman who underwent a very dubious conversion."
Tropper's associates claim that Orand, the tape and the posters are all connected to this legal dispute. One of the associates told Haaretz that, "Guma Aguiar succeeded in throwing Rabbi Tropper to the trash."

With the public revelation of Orthodox conversion guru Rabbi Leib Tropper as a caught-on-tape predator, the Orthodox Jewish community is grappling with a sexual scandal of Madoffian proportion.
On Monday, the Rabbinical Council of America issued a statement about what the bloggers who broke the story have begun calling “Tropper-gate”:
“We are deeply appalled, saddened and pained by reports that have reached us concerning alleged inappropriate behavior on the part of the chairman of the rabbinic committee of the Eternal Jewish Family, Rabbi Leib Tropper,” said the RCA. “What we have heard, if true, violates the fundamental elements of all that Judaism holds sacred.”
Conversions facilitated by Tropper remain valid, said the RCA statement, echoing a p’sak [halachic ruling] by HaRav Reuven Feinstein, chair of Eternal Jewish Family’s Halachic Committee. In his own statement, Rav Feinstein did not discuss the accusations against Tropper but said, “The resignation of Rabbi Tropper in no way casts any cloud over the validity of any conversion performed by a Bais Din affiliated with or supported by EJF.”
Speaking to a reporter by telephone on Tuesday afternoon, Rabbi Barry Freundel, chairman of the Geirus Policy and Standards Committee of the RCA, pronounced himself “appalled” by the allegations.
“It’s basically someone in a position of power taking advantage of someone in a much weaker position; that has happened in many walks of life.”
The Rabbinical Council has internal mechanisms designed to prevent similar abuses, he said. “I can’t swear nothing like this can happen but I can tell you, the way we set it up, you have a sponsoring rabbi and the court that works with them, the committee, the Beis Din of America; you have a whole series of individuals. It doesn’t flow through one person and it’s not one person in control.”

Tropper’s fall from grace was meteoric, occurring over the span of a few days. The founder of the Monsey-based Eternal Jewish Family organization announced his resignation on December 12. It had taken effect two days prior. Soon, bloggers began posting links to recordings of conversations Tropper speaking with Sharon Orand, a Florida woman in the process of conversion to Judaism. The tapes explicitly detail an intimate relationship between the two, as well as intimate activities that apparently also included Tropper’s wife.
Tropper has been at the center of previous controversies, though none of this magnitude or so destructive to himself, personally. As an individual he was responsible for pushing for a rabbinic ban on the work of Rabbi Natan Slifkin, known as the “Zoo Rabbi,” who has written books that cite halachic sources for evolution. Rabbi Slifkin declined to comment for this article. As head of Eternal Jewish Family, Tropper sought to create a unified conversion standard in the United States and Israel. He cast doubt on conversions performed by a number of prominent American Orthodox rabbis and solidified his own position as the go-to person for Orthodox conversions. In 2006, rejecting long-standing Halachic practice, Tropper retroactively voided a woman’s conversion because she was seen wearing pants in public.
Tropper recently had a very public break with one of the backers of EJF, industrial billionaire Guma Aguiar, who accused Tropper of misappropriating funds intended for the organization. He currently is suing Tropper for millions. Tropper has denied the accusations and claimed that Aguiar assaulted him.
A former business associate of Tropper shared a recollection with a reporter that could shed light on how Tropper managed to accumulate so much power in the world of Orthodox conversions: payoffs, he claims.
“They do pay off rabbonim large sums of money. Like in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. These rabbonim, for what it’s worth, this should be looked into in general. They accept a stipend for their haskamah [approbation]; I have a big name give me money and I’ll endorse you. It doesn’t sound right and not what a rav should be doing.”
All mention of Tropper has been scrubbed from the EJF website. It was initially announced that HaRav Elya Ber Wachtfogel, Rosh Yeshiva of the Yeshiva of South Fallsburg, would assume Tropper’s responsibilities at EJF, but he denied that and several days later it was announced that Rabbi Chaim Blum would be the interim director of the organization.
An anti-lashon hora group run by Tropper in midtown Manhattan was profiled in the New York Times in 1999.

A key proponent of the successful campaign for stricter conversions in Israel and around the world has resigned from a senior post, and has not denied rumors of a conversion scandal of his own.
Rabbi Leib Tropper, a founder of the hard-line conversion group Eternal Jewish Family (EJF), announced that he had stepped down as its leader when allegations surfaced in news outlets that he had engaged in sexual misconduct with a woman while guiding her conversion. Tropper was among those responsible for major policy changes by the Israeli rabbinate that sparked a worldwide tightening of conversion regulations.
In a statement issued December 23 to the Forward, Tropper’s representatives said he “wishes to express his regret for the turmoil caused by his departure… and for what has appeared to be conduct not within our significant laws of modesty.”
“He was a big player in trying to make the conversion standards more extreme,” said Mark Angel, the modern Orthodox rabbi who founded the Institute for Jewish Ideas and Ideals, which opposed Tropper’s reforms.
Now, in an ironic twist, the rabbi whose organization questioned the legitimacy of conversions performed by others has had his own conversions called into question. On December 21, the Rabbinical Council of America, the mostly Modern Orthodox rabbinic association, issued a statement in response to the scandal. “What we have heard, if true, violates the fundamental elements of all that Judaism holds sacred,” the statement read. EJF has been involved in conversions since its founding, in 2005.
The allegations of sexual misconduct against Tropper, reported first on the Web site FailedMessiah.com, cite leaked, unauthenticated audio and video recordings in which Tropper apparently discusses orchestrating sexual encounters between an unidentified woman undergoing a conversion and other men. These allegations were also reported in the New York Post.
The revelations may have undermined Tropper’s hard-line stance. “He was the ultimate de-legitimizer,” said Rabbi Seth Farber, who directs ITIM, an information and advocacy center for Jewish life in Israel. “He claimed he had all the solutions, he had all of the ultra-Orthodox leadership, and anything that wasn’t under his rule wasn’t legitimate at all.”
Tropper is known for particularly strict positions on who can perform and receive conversions. According to a blog post by Rabbi Gil Student, a Modern Orthodox rabbi, Tropper told him that he follows the authorities who believe that rabbis who think the world is more than 6000 years old should not be allowed to preside over conversions. And Jewcy.com reported that in 2006, Tropper reversed a conversion he had overseen after learning that the woman wore pants and not dresses, which is considered immodest in ultra-Orthodox circles.

Tropper has worked to extend his rigid outlook on conversions to rabbinical courts around the world. According to sources contacted by the Forward, he is among those responsible for a major shift in conversion policy that occurred in 2007, when moves by the Israeli rabbinate caused the RCA to introduce new, stricter conversion standards.
One source who is familiar with the matter and asked not to be identified called Tropper a “power broker.” According to Farber, Tropper’s charisma and funding allowed him to garner support from major figures in the ultra-Orthodox world. Farber said that Tropper and an Israeli ally, Rabbi Nachum Eisenstein, had the ear of Shlomo Amar, Israel’s Sephardic chief rabbi, in 2005 and 2006, years in which Amar effected policy changes that overturned the status quo of Orthodox conversion in the United States.
“Amar was very impressed with the rabbis whom [Tropper and Eisenstein] surrounded themselves with,” Farber said. Amar attended conferences in the United States, organized by EJF. “He became very, very suspicious of the Modern Orthodox rabbinate in the United States. And that, from a historical perspective, was a disaster,” Farber said.
In 2006, Amar determined that the Chief Rabbinate of Israel would not consider conversions performed by the RCA to be legitimate. The potential implications of the decision were drastic, as the rabbinate in Israel controls such vital areas as marriage, divorce and eligibility for immigration. In response, the RCA restructured the process by which it approved conversions, limiting the ability of individual rabbis to convene religious courts in favor of a more centralized system. Conversions are now performed only by a small number of RCA rabbis.
Meanwhile, in the United States, EJF worked to coordinate and centralize the religious courts that adhered to its stricter standards.
“Until now, every single beis din [religious court] was, to a large extent, independent. There was no interfacing, there were no standards, there was no discussion,” said Yehoshua Wender, who sits on the Bais Din of Houston and is the rabbi of Young Israel of Houston. Through EJF, Wender said that his religious court has been brought into contact with other similarly observant religious courts via annual conferences. EJF lists 19 religious courts in the United States and around the world that it says adhere to its “universally accepted standards” of conversion.
FailedMessiah.com also reported that Tropper used his control over the unidentified woman’s conversion process as leverage to force her to engage in sexual activities. But Wender, who said that the woman was to have been converted at his beit din, said that Tropper would have had no say over whether the woman’s conversion would have been accepted."

Tropper, in a statement released this week by the organization, said his desire to “pursue a variety of other interests” led him to resign.
Stories have surfaced recently of his sexual misconduct while overseeing the conversion process. A woman, whose name has not been released, told FailedMessiah.com that Tropper allegedly asked for sexual favors in return for completing her conversion process.
Tropper, the woman claims, also arranged for sexual encounters between herself and Tropper’s wife that the rabbi allegedly watched. Tropper also is accused of allegedly pressuring woman to engage in sexual encounters with other men.
According to FailedMessiah.com, the alleged female victim made unauthenticated video and audio tapes of sexual encounters with Tropper intended for leading rabbis involved with Eternal Jewish Family, yet the tapes were leaked through the Internet to various bloggers over the past few days.
“These tapes appear to support her claims,” FailedMessiah.com wrote.
Tropper did not address the accusations in the statement announcing his resignation.
Over the summer, billionaire EJF financier Guma Aguiar accused Tropper of embezzling funds from the organization, and the two since then have been engaged in an ongoing dispute."

An Orthodox rabbi is accused of telling a woman he would help her convert to Judaism if she had sex with him and his friends. According to the blog Failed Messiah, Rabbi Leib Tropper of Rockland County told Shannon Orand, a 32-year-old gentile who was interested in becoming a Jew: "If you fulfill my needs, I'll fulfill yours — and you need a conversion."
The Post reports that Orand recorded a conversation in which the rabbi urged her to have sex and participate in phone sex with his friends including an individual called "the Satmar guy." He purportedly told the woman, who he called "darling" and "cutie pie," that he "could role-play a rape...but I couldn't actually rape you — you know what I'm saying, darling — does that make sense?"
On the recordings, the rabbi talks paying the woman money for a lawyer and a stipend of $1,300 per month, and discusses putting that agreement in writing. Orand told the Post she didn't mean for the recordings to become public. "It was only supposed to go to a few leading rabbis." She added in a written statement:
While an individual 'rabbi' acted in an inappropriate manner, my desire to become a bona fide Jew is undeterred. I remain inspired by the beauty and wholesomeness of authentic Judaism. One unhealthy person cannot and will not interfere with my quest to become a fully committed observant Jew. I want nothing more than to focus on my family at this time.
Orand's conversion was supposed to be finalized last week, but a religious court apparently canceled it at the last minute. Tropper wouldn't comment for the Post, but he resigned on Dec. 12 from Eternal Jewish Family, a Monsey-based organization he founded that tries to convert gentiles in interfaith marriages to Judaism.

Unlike the countless other scandals involving so called “frum” people, this one is actually exciting, as you guessed it involves money, you cannot have a frum scandal without money but this time it involves Sex, that’s right folks, a scandal involving sex, bribery and fraud – what could be better?
Apparently Leib Tropper who was the president of the group EJF –Eternal Jewish Family, forced a woman whom he was overseeing her conversion to do sexual favors for him. I know it sounds crazy, and when I heard that it was posted on Failed Messiah, I figured it must be some sort of tirade against orthodoxy, but it isn’t, this time there is actual proof and it doesn’t help his case that he resigned his position as the story broke.
Now normally I don’t talk much about scandals, the kidney thing wasn’t that funny and the Madoff thing was money and even Rubashkin was kind of boring in my mind, but having sex with your Rabbi is kind of funny, especially when you’re doing it in order to convert.
How did she get tapes? Will these be like the Paris Hilton Tapes? Those texas girls are kind of hot.
I have read up on the investigation, facts and allegations – and the following information was posted on the Dov Bear Blog, which to me is one of the easiest to read, comment on and sort through because it just lays it all out for ya.
Absolute facts:

– In the audio recording, Tropper speaks of a sexual relationship with the woman as well as setting her up for phone sex and actual sex acts with men identified only as “Amir” and the “Satmar guy.”
– Money is passing hands, although it is not clear if the funds were used as a quid pro quo for sex.

Pure Speculation / Food For Thought:
– If Ms. Orand had already converted why was she converting again? Was it a set-up? Or was she really converting (again)?
– A man with the means of the slighted billionaire Israeli could very well have orchestrated the demise of his nemesis by playing to Tropper’s weaknesses with an elaborate set-up.
– By recording conversations in which the woman admits to sexual activity with a married man and potential sexual activity with others, we can infer that there was a huge interest on her part to expose Tropper and indict herself.
– The things Tropper did would still be inexcusable but they shed new light on his predicament.

Therefore, the ‘rabbi’ and ‘dayan’ will never effect justice. And he will never truly stand for the Torah or the Honour of Hashem. His pocket will always prevail.
The Torah must never be used for commercial gain and profit. Am Yisrael can only be lead by those who have the necessary love and respect of Hashem and the Torah.
1. The ‘dayan’ and ‘rabbi’ may use lies. They turn the innocent into the guilty, and the guilty, become the innocent. They will not hesitate to tell lies in the Synagogue.
2. The ‘dayan’ and ‘rabbi’ may steal. They steal and siphon off money for themselves, from the community and individuals.
3. The ‘dayan’ and ‘rabbi’ may commit murder. They may shame a Jew in public, even repeatedly. This is one of the most vile acts of murder in Jewish law – and they know this.
4. The ‘dayan’ and ‘rabbi’ will not hesitate to use Lashon Hara - the ‘Evil Tongue’ - to suit his own ends. Slander and gossip. This too, is one of the worst acts of murder in Jewish Law. Their slander is never challenged by the community, because they hold positions of power. And the slander may begin with the Rebbetzin herself.
5. The ‘dayanim’ and ‘rabbis’ worship idols and other gods. Their only god is Money. Especially the ‘Dayanim’ – the ‘Judges’ who sit on a Beit Din. They only care about their high incomes and retirement packages. They have little or no love for the Torah or Hashem.
In the case of Lubavitch/Chabad, all their rabbis are carrying out a form of Avodah Zarah – strange worship. They are using mediation and intercession. This is completely forbidden, and against the Torah. We are only allowed to pray to Hashem, directly ourselves.
6. When the NAME of Hashem has been taken in Vain – repeatedly - by reshaim, the ‘rabbi’ will turn a deaf ear and blind eye to the
CHILLUL HASHEM.
This is the abhorrent behaviour of a Pig.

DENVER (AP) -- The FAA says it is seeking the maximum $11,000 fine against the man behind the balloon boy hoax on grounds that he operated a balloon in a hazardous manner.
The FAA on Thursday released a letter it sent to Richard Heene (HEE'-nee) with the proposed fine.
On Oct. 15, Heene reported his son was aboard a large saucer-like balloon that had floated away. The balloon later landed with no sign of the boy, who was safe at home.
Heene and his wife both received jail sentences Wednesday for the hoax.
In its letter, the FAA said northbound flights from Denver International Airport were temporarily halted and other planes were diverted during the balloon's flight.

Would You Get Spiritual Counseling From A Rabbi Who Had An Affair With A Congregant?

A few years ago, Rabbi Simcha Weinberg (brother of Rabbi Matis Weinberg) lost his job with Lincoln Square Synagogue for having an affair with a congregant.
He was caught in the act.
He was subsequently divorced (and I believe he married the congregant). He lost contact with his kids. He went into a tailspin for two years. He claimed he was paralyzed. He had all these people praying for him.
After about two years, he publicly announced there had been a great miracle and he’d been healed and he returned to his rabbinic work.
He speaks annually in Pico-Robertson at places such as Bnai David-Judea and Aish HaTorah.
I Googled “Simcha Weinberg” today. The first result? http://www.thefound ationstone. org

OK. This made me queasy. I understand screwing around. I’ve done a lot of it myself. But I don’t present myself to the world as a teacher of Torah. I’m just your run-of-the-mill Moral Leader who bothers no one and no one is bothered by.
What disturbed me most about this operation was the third link down on the left: “Spiritual Counseling”
I’m not sure that rabbis who screw around should offer spiritual counseling. Even if Rabbi Simcha Weinberg does not do the counseling, I’m not sure he should have his name on a website and an organization that offers spiritual counseling.
It’s gross.
Rabbi Simcha Weinberg’s affair and firing has been widely known for years. The man seemed very broken by it. Nobody wanted to do a story on him.
Then, about three years ago, I found he was speaking on Torah at Bnai David-Judea where I was attending Shalosh Sheudos.
I let it go.
Then last night I started thinking about it again and I thought I’d just raise the question on my blog about rabbis who philander, should they teach Torah?
Then today I Googled “Simcha Weinberg” and found out he’s offering spiritual counseling.
It just seems like he’s pleading to be stopped.
Why can’t he be quiet? Why does he want to be the front of a Torah organization? Why can’t he sell insurance? Why does he have to offer spiritual counseling?
The day I offer spiritual counseling, I want Yeshiva University to revoke my semicha (rabbinic ordination).

You can get away with a lot if you have the right yichus. Look at the cases of Rabbi Sholom Tendler, Rabbi Aron Tendler, Rabbi Mordecai Tendler and Rabbi Matis Weinberg.
PS. I get asked a lot about rabbis like Simcha Weinberg — what if they stopped counseling and stopped teaching Torah? Would that be ground to remove my posts on them?

ALBANY – Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli scolded state health officials yesterday for failing prevent Medicaid fraud while he released audits exposing another $92 million in sham payments by the massive health insurance program for the poor.
Among the problems uncovered by DiNapoli's audits:

(New York, N.Y.)-Senate Republican Leader Dean Skelos today sent a letter (below) to Attorney General Andrew Cuomo and Governor David Paterson, urging New York to join other states that are considering a legal challenge to a questionable deal that secured the vote of a Nebraska Senator on federal health care reform legislation, a bill that could add to the Medicaid burden on New York taxpayers.
Charges have been made that this compromise was nothing more than vote buying to secure last-minute support from Nebraska Senator Ben Nelson. The lawsuit planned by Attorneys General of seven states: Texas, South Carolina, Alabama, Colorado, Washington, Michigan and North Dakota, would challenge the constitutionality of a deal that would permanently exempt Nebraska from billions of dollars in Medicaid costs that would result from the health care reform bill passed by the United States Senate and would cause other states, including New York, to pay more for Medicaid.
NEW YORK – A college administrator was indicted for allegedly stealing over $400,000 from New York University.

Steven E. Schleifer, 53, of Monsey, N.Y., became the latest participant in that scheme to take the fall when Judge Janet Bond Arterton Tuesday afternoon sentenced him to one year and a day in jail in U.S. District Court on Church Street.
“You are taken out of circulation,” Judge Arterton told him at the climax of an emotional two-hour court session.
Schleifer, 53, is a slim, straight-standing man with full salt and pepper beard and black metal-framed glasses. He wore a full velvet yarmulke on his head and dressed in a black suit to court. His wife accompanied him. She alternately took notes onto a white legal pad, dabbed her eyes and read from a book of psalms as Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael McGarry and New York-based defense lawyer Ira Lee Sorkin (same lawyer for Bernie Madoff) argued intricacies of federal sentencing guidelines and what weight previous good deeds should be given in balancing the crime he had admitted to committing.
The case was all about contradictions, according to the two lawyers and the judge.
McGarry said Schleifer, a certified public accountant, was a millionaire who has money in the bank, and a nice house. He has worked a comptroller of a company for more than 25 years.
Sorkin, the defense lawyer, said Schleifer is the sole support for his wife, six children and three grandchildren.
The eldest four children range from 18 to 28 years old; the youngest are 13 and 15. Sorkin said all are in school and depend on Schleifer financially.
Schleifer had quickly begun negotiations with the government years ago and never tried to hide his role in the scheme after learning that the government was looking into his actions, McGarry said.
But, McGarry noted, “that is not the same as aiding the government,” something other defendants in the scheme had done and as a consequence received probation and community service rather than being sent to prison.

Maurice Blond, an insurance execu-tive who helped many charities, died of colon cancer Saturday at Beth Israel Medical Center. He was 73 years old and lived in Manhattan.
Mr. Blond, who was born on the Lower East Side, ran the Maurice Blond Agency here until his death.
He promoted public housing in the 1930's and was educational director of the Henry Street Settlement Federal Credit Union. As chairman of the life insurance division of the United Jewish Appeal he helped create the Legacy Development Project, which has raised more than $100 million. Florida is one of the hardest hit US States in this recession. Unemployment figures are in the double digits and the frum community is really suffering.
We have many hardworking upstanding families who cannot buy groceries or pay their mortgages or utilities.
Many frum families have put their children in the public Hebrew Charter School, which is not ideal but at least it is free.
Also many of our families are from the NY/NJ area and relocated here after losing their homes or jobs in NY/NJ. They come, sometimes to live in relatives vacation homes or to take advantage of the low cost of living for a few months to get back on their feet, but then often need help from the community.
Anyone who claims that the tapes are cut an paste simply has never tried to do cut and paste sound editing. As someone with a strong background in sound and video production, it is simple. If you want a smooth recording, where the listener cannot hear noticeable breaks, skips and such, and you are pulling your sound clips from unrelated conversations. You are going to need at a minimum a thousand hours of audio(to make it truly seamless). Otherwise anyone listening would be able to quickly tell it is a fake. The first time that Hollywood pulled off a cut and paste was with the Tom Clancy movie adaptation, "Clear and Present Danger" in which they drew from all four years of footage the previous US president to put together a clean fifteen seconds. We are talking over thirty minutes of audio... there is no way anyone should have been able to get enough audio of Tropper talking about sex and such to piece together a clean thirty minutes.
Never mind that there is actually an accompanying video floating around. To assert that all of this is a forgery is simply desperate people grasping at straws.

Which in my opinion is still a cop out but it is also an admission of wrong doing. Bill Clinton when faced with his own witch-hunt at least made the statement, "No, I have never had sexual relations with that woman." There was a situation that came before the Rosh where the people wrote to him for permission to kill another Jew because of the Chillul HaShem he had caused and the degradation of the Jewish people it would cause in the eyes of Goyim if they did not. The Rosh stated that while he would prefer that they simply maim him and cut out his tongue, that they should do as seemed fit in their own eyes for the need of the hour.

I heard a very interesting ma'aseh today from our Rabbi in shul, who is a talmid of Rav Hershel Schachter. Rav Schachter spoke at an EJF convention. In the course of his shiur, he mentioned the opinions who are lenient about shaking a woman's hand, and situations where it may be appropriate to follow the leniency. He cited examples of gedolim who shook women's hands. None other than Rabbi Tropper screamed at Rabbi Schachter, calling him a shakran. Rabbi Schachter responded with case after case of roshei yeshiva and gedolim who have shanken women's hands before. Rabbi Tropper had an hysterical fit that the honor of these great gedolim was besmirched with an accusation of shaking a woman's hand. It is truly fascinating.
As a member of the Young Israel Synagogue of Houston for over 5 years,I am not surpised of Rabbi Wender's comment. Although he has been the Rabbi of this synagogue for over 20 years, he is not liked. Because he was "grandfathered" into this position, the community has been unable to hire a new rabbi. Although he is well-learned, he is NOT a leader. A break-away shul was created last year (Aahavas Yisroel) since he supposedly threw out a few "confrontational" families. He was surprised to find that several other families left, as well. There is so much hatred and lashon harah in this community that he does not even attempt to control. When families have a crises or someone is hospitalized, you would expect the Rav to show his presence, but not Rabbi Wender. I think that he owes us an explaination, as the Rav of the Houston community. We had a shiksa in the community that pretended to be jewish and he did nothing. The community is in an uproar and we deserve answers.

My grandfather a"h showed my husband and I a topographical map of Monsey which looks like a fishbowl surrounded by rivers whose chemicals leached into the ground there. My husband and I also noticed that in a lot of places around Monsey the grass does not seem to grow either.
We decided to move to Teaneck instead which is hardly a garden paradise, but probably less toxic than Monsey.
With regard to Monsey, I do believe that there is a problem with toxic chemicals leaching into the water and soil. Studies have shown that for a G6PD deficient population (ie. Mediterranean) petrochemicals can interrupt the endocrine process as well as being an underlying cause of diabetes, thyroid disorders and bipolar.

Neal Turk was fired because the people in the community do not like him and so many of the congregation have moved out just to get away from him that the shul, the biggest and most successful one in Miami Beach, is nearly bankrupt.
I (and I am one of many) left a beautiful home in Miami Beach that I had lived in for many years and that had very low taxes just to get away.
The Miami Beach community is nearly dead thanks a great deal to Rabbi Turk who has turned off many people.
Rabbi Bixon is the new Rabbi of Young Israel and hopefully he will be able to save the community which has been vibrant since the 1930s. Rabbi Bixon is very well liked

Regarding modernity, the vast majority of college students who have been involved with Machon L'Torah and R' Jacobovitz and embraced some kind of Orthodox life have finished their secular educations and have careers. A small number have gotten smicha, and an even smaller number are full time learners. There are plenty of people with Modern Orthodox lifestyles and beliefs that support the Machon and participate in its events.
Rabbi J and I have our differences, he's not perfect and I'm sure that I know his flaws better than you do but he's a kind man. He's a disciple of the Slobodka mussar school, which is based on elevating the soul and a cheerful approach to life.

This was as inevitable as it is stupid:
“Several airlines released detailed information about the restrictions, saying that passengers on international flights coming to the United States will apparently have to remain in their seats for the last hour of a flight without any personal items on their laps. It was not clear how often the rule would affect domestic flights.
Overseas passengers (Canada included) will be restricted to only one carry-on item, and domestic passengers will probably face longer security lines. That was already the case in some airports Saturday, in the United States and overseas.”
I will repeat a couple of points I’ve made before:
1) By the time the terrorist arrives at the airport, it’s generally too late to stop him; therefore it is up to law enforcement officers, intelligence agents and the military to stop terrorists before they arrive at check-in;
2) Unless and until the TSA begins invasive body searches, most measures taken at security checkpoints in U.S. airports should be considered mere security theater. We now have instances of Muslim terrorists hiding bombs in their rectums, and, apparently, having bombs sewn into their underwear. While it is true that bomb-detection technology is always improving, so too are the methods of bomb-smuggling and manufacture used by terrorists.
On this latter point, I recognize, of course, that we won’t soon, or ever, be experiencing cavity searches at American airports. So since the TSA will be prohibited, by law and custom, from actually searching passengers thoroughly (unless a pat-down includes the nether-regions, it’s utterly useless), why bother with the rest of the security-checkpoint nonsense? As Bruce Schneier has pointed out, the only two innovations since 9/11 that seem to work against terrorists on planes are hardened cockpit doors (which are irrelevant if the terrorist is simply trying to blow up the plane) and the willingness of passengers to fight back, which is what worked in this most recent case. The rest is silliness that serves only to torture passengers with bladder issues and make air travel even more unpleasant than it already is.

A Peril in War Zones: Sexual Abuse by Fellow G.I.’s

By the Pentagon’s own estimate, as few as 10 percent of sexual assaults are reported, far lower than the percentage reported in the civilian world. Specialist Erica A. Beck, a mechanic and gunner who served in Diyala Province in Iraq this summer, recalled a sexual proposition she called “inappropriate” during her first tour in the country in 2006-7.
She did not report it, she said, because she feared that her commanders would have reacted harshly — toward her.
Her fears were common, according to soldiers and advocates who remain skeptical of the military’s efforts to address abuse. A report last year by the Government Accountability Office concluded that victims were reluctant to report attacks “for a variety of reasons, including the belief that nothing would be done or that reporting an incident would negatively impact their careers.”
When Sgt. Tracey R. Phillips told a superior about an unwanted sexual advance from a private the night their unit arrived in Iraq in May, the accusations unleashed a flurry of charges and countercharges, an initial investigation of her on charges of adultery, a crime in the military justice system, and, according to her account, violations by her commanders of the new procedures meant to ease reporting of abuse.
In the end, she was kicked out of Iraq and the Army itself, while the private remained on duty here.
The military’s efforts, however well intentioned, are often undermined by commanders who are skeptical or even conflicted, suspicious of accusations and fearful that reports of abuse reflect badly on their commands. The Pentagon task force also reported that victims of assault did not come forward because they might “have engaged in misconduct for which they could be disciplined, such as under-age drinking, fraternization or adultery.”
Marti Ribeiro, then an Air Force sergeant, said she was raped by another soldier after she stepped away from a guard post in Afghanistan in 2006 to smoke a cigarette, a story first recounted in “The Lonely Soldier,” a book by Helen Benedictabout women who served in Iraq and elsewhere. When she went to the abuse coordinator, she was threatened with prosecution for having left her weapon and her post.
“I didn’t get any help at all, let alone compassion,” said Ms. Ribeiro, who has since retired and joined the Service Women’s Action Network, a new advocacy organization devoted to shaping the Pentagon’s policy.
As a result, victims often suffer the consequences alone, working in the heat and dust, living in trailers surrounded by gravel and concrete blast walls, with nowhere private to retreat to. In Captain White’s case, she had to work and live beside the man who assaulted and stalked her until their deployment ended in August and they both went home.
“You’re in such a fishbowl,” she said. “You can’t really get away from someone. You see him in the chow hall. You see him in the gym.”

Just trying to find where the boundaries are. I'm kinda surprised that UOJ let my nic pass muster. It's obviously a reference to Tropper's proclivities involving shared sex partners and group sex. I'm surprised, though, that UOJ, a man who knows the financial industry, didn't get the reference to Wall Street's BSD's.
The deleted post was ribald and risque, perhaps, but hardly disgusting. The fact that the double entendre was subtle enough to be unrecognized by UOJ, a worldly person, proves that it was not grossly vulgar.

Earlier today a man called Horizons (845.425.3863) to say his sister was mistreated by R. Tropper. When pressed, the man answering the phone said the caller should direct his complaints in writing to Rabbi Tropper. The caller hung up. This comes to me directly from the man who made the call. Tropper’s victims are being left in the lurch and Tropper is not being forced to resign. In fact it seems like he still has legal control of EJF, since EJF does not appear to be an independent legal entity. When will those who want the scandal to end at least appoint an independent ombudsman to investigate the hundreds of additional charges lurking in the wings?
Answer: When we force them to! In the meantime if you are a complainant, go to the blogs, go to the police, go to Vicki Polin, go to the newspapers. But don’t go to the rabbinical establishment. They were negligent in letting Tropper run wild and they are negligent in not warning the public that Tropper still controls Horizons and Kol Yaakov.
This scandal is not a quirk of Tropper’s perverse character. This scandal was the predictable results of years of rabbinical corruption. A few of his critics have personal agendas about conversions rather than being concerned about the best interests of his victims.
Agudah's best and brightest espoused their theories at the Midwest Agudah Convention. Where Agudah missed the boat is in how they blame outside factors for their failures as opposed to acting like real leaders and developing effective strategies to deal with new issues.
Leaders can NOT say, we were doing great, but the internet came a long and ruined everything. Leaders need to deal with the facts on the ground, not mourn for the way things used to be. Leaders propose solutions to the problems they encounter. Claiming the solution to outside influences is ignoring outside influences is not a legitimate solution.
The main part when talking about Agudah Conventions in Chicago is Second City is the home for all aspiring comedians. They were on display in full glory this weekend.

A German computer engineer said Monday that he had deciphered and published the secret code used to encrypt most of the world’s digital mobile phone calls, in what he called an attempt to expose weaknesses in the security of global wireless systems.
The action by the encryption expert, Karsten Nohl, aimed to question the effectiveness of the 21-year-old GSM algorithm, a code developed in 1988 and still used to protect the privacy of 80 percent of mobile calls worldwide.
“This shows that existing GSM security is inadequate,” Mr. Nohl, 28, told about 600 people attending the Chaos Communication Congress, a four-day computer hackers’ conference that runs through Wednesday in Berlin. “We are trying to push operators to adopt better security measures for mobile phone calls.”

The only way to address this EJF scandal is to make a personal stand - as appropriate - against those who continue to associate with people involved. If your rov or your son’s rosh yeshiva is involved with them pick up the phone and let them know that any association is bringing a klolo to klal yisroel. If they tayneh that there is parnosso issues involved, tell them that parnosso comes from the Ribono shel Olam, not Tom Kaplan or his nochshleppers. Don’t wait for erlichkeit and complain when it isn’t forthcoming - insist on it and don’t give up until your leaders reflect the erlichkeit one would expect from manhigei yisroel. That is what R. Aron Kotler did. That is what R. Leizer Silver did. That is what R. Yaakov Kamenetzky did. Human nature hasn’t changed, it is our willingness to accept its downside that has allowed this to happen. A grassroots movement against this corruption - and it is nothing less - is the only thing that might change the status quo for the better.
The Leib Tropper I knew 20 years ago in Monsey was a disgusting scumbag who used to hang out in Tuvia's bookstore "looking for potential Baalei Teshuva" to "makarev".
I was newly married at the time and used to wait inside Tuvia's for my husband to pick me up after work.
On more than one occasion I had to tell Tropper to "stand back from behind me, he was too close" and I also had to ask for help to tell him not to get too close to me so that he could "accidentally brush up against me" while I was browsing in the store.
That is the Leib Tropper I know. He is the same jerk who screwed around on his wife, the daughter of Rav Margolin, a student of Rav Aaron Kotler, for 25 years before leaving her to marry one of the beautiful young women whom he was "makareving" to Yiddishkeit. The fact that she happened to also come from money was just the icing on the cake. Now we know that Laurel Blond aka Leiba Tropper has other talents which were not so obvious to the casual observer.
Tropper's personal history should have disqualified him from acting as a decisor and shaper of the future of the Jewish people, but the fact that it did not only further illustrates that the vast majority of our "Rabbis" are as motivated by both money and sex as Tropper is.

The OU has taken their vengeance one step further. For all practical purposes they have also fired the wife of the Montefiore mashgiach from her position as mashgicha at YU.
Since the phrase "shtikah k'hoda'ah" has been bandied about a bit lately, I believe it's appropriate for me to speak up.
I'm a screwup, not a gonif. I got swamped with work, got behind and then ran out of money. I have my talents but organization and self-discipline are not among them.
Regarding any unfilled orders for UOJ caps. I've checked my shopping cart software and it indicates two unfilled orders for UOJ merchandise. Everyone else who ordered UOJ caps from me either got their caps or got their money back.
I've contacted both customers. One says that he indeed received a refund way back when. The other customer is UOJ himself. When I contacted UOJ to make things right, he said it was no big deal.
So whoever is running around the blog world running me down as a scam artist is not doing so because I cheated him, but rather because he likes spreading LH.
I'm a big boy and when I screw up I'll take my lumps.
I made a mistake, I'm attempting to make things right. That's all I can do.
Regarding my supposed banning from UOJ's blog, it was my own embarrassment that kept me from posting, not any action by UOJ to ban me.
As you can see, I can easily post here under the same Google account as I did two years ago.

I just wish that Ronnie could fess up like a man. People got their money back because they followed UOJ's instructions and disputed the transaction on Paypal.
And UOJ did state unequivocally that "Ronnie is banned from the site", explaining that he cannot associate with anyone perpetrating a fraud.
