More than 10,000 leaders of the Southern Baptist Convention will attend the denomination's annual meeting
in Dallas this week, deciding policy for the nation's largest
Protestant denomination. Among the issues the delegates — called
"messengers" — are expected to vote on is a proposal to ban churches led
by women pastors. Also up for debate is the fate of the SBC's public
policy arm, which has clashed with the Trump administration, and whether
proposed reforms to the denomination's handling of sex abuse will
survive.
