A prominent Orthodox rabbi has been caught on tape discussing his apparent love affair with a shikse that was converting to Judaism -- whom he allegedly also pushed to have sex with his friends. Rabbi Leib Tropper of Rockland County is heard encouraging pretty, blond Shannon Orand of Houston to participate in phone sex and actual sex with men the rabbi knows, including one he calls "the Satmar guy. Tropper, who calls the woman "darling" and "cutie pie," talks about his own love affair with her at one point, saying: "I want to squeeze you. He also fantasized about rape. "I could role-play a rape with you but I couldn't actually rape you -- you know what I'm saying, darling -- does that make sense?" he asks.
The scandal has rocked the Orthodox community from Rockland County to Israel, and transcripts of the sex tapes are circulating on Jewish blogs, with the audio posted on YouTube. The rabbi talks about paying Orand money for a lawyer and a stipend of $1,300 for the month of November. He also mentions putting in writing an agreement between the two.
"Why would you want to document that kind of agreement on an e-mail?" an upset Orand asks. Orand, who identifies herself on the tape, apparently recorded the phone conversations. "It was only supposed to go to a few leading rabbis," Orand, 32, told The Post. She refused to comment further, and later released a statement saying, "While an individual 'rabbi' acted in an inappropriate manner, my desire to become a bona fide Jew is undeterred. Orand reportedly told a Jewish blog, failedmessiah.com, that Tropper would tell her: "If you fulfill my needs, I'll fulfill yours -- and you need a conversion.
The blog reported that Orand's conversion was to have been finalized last week, but was canceled at the last minute by a religious court. Tropper declined to comment, but a source close to him said the rabbi feels like he's a victim and was used by Orand.
He resigned effective Dec. 12 from Eternal Jewish Family, a Monsey-based organization that primarily works to convert gentiles in interfaith marriages to Judaism. The 59-year-old rabbi is the founder of Eternal Jewish Family and sought to create strict universal guidelines for conversion, which are handled differently by various Jewish sects.

In conjunction with the decision of made by the standing committee of the Conference of European Rabbis (CER) that met in Moscow in the month of Kislev we strongly object to involvement of the organization known as the Eternal Jewish Family (EJF) in matters of conversion in Europe. By virtue of the fact that the abovementioned organization (EJF) involves itself in matters of conversion to actively influence gentiles to convert which is against the traditions of our community from previous times, and there is a concern for a breach of the walls of our faith in Europe, and by virtue of the fact that the leaders of this aforementioned organization caused a desecration of the Divine Name and a disgrace to the name of the Orthodox Rabbinate throughout the world in recent weeks, we the leaders of the Kehilos HaKodesh in Europe call upon the organization called the Eternal Jewish Family to cancel their planned seminar. If they do not heed our request we call upon the Rabbis that were invited to the seminar not to participate with them and to guard themselves from entering there.

Interview with Conference of European Rabbis Rav Dunner Speaks Out Against EJF

The Conference of European Rabbis is the primary Orthodox Rabbinic organization in Europe. It was founded in 1956 on the initiative of British Chief Rabbi Sir Israel Brodie, and its current executive director is Rabbi Aba Dunner. All the chief Rabbis across Europe joined the organization, and attended its first conference in Amsterdam. It is now run by a standing committee of 25 members which meets twice a year, and just met in Moscow. The Five Towns Jewish Times and VINNEWS spoke with Rabbi Dunner in an exclusive interview concerning the recent statement by the Conference of European Rabbis about the EJF (the Eternal Jewish Family).
Interviewer: Firstly, can you tell me about the Conference of European Rabbis?
RD: We are an umbrella organization of all the Chief Rabbis in Europe ranging from Dublin to Kazikstan. They turn to us for guidance. It was designed to prevent the non-authentic forms of Judaism from entering Europe.
Since then, the Conference of European Rabbis has been active in four main areas. The office in Brussels deals with combating anti-Semitism, and attempts to stop Shechita. There is also a “Lo Tishkach” department identifying the 20,000 Jewish cemeteries and mass graves in Europe and to protect them. The fourth area is to establish a Bais Din in areas where they do not have them in order to stop what we call, “Cowboy Geirus and Gittin.”
INT: What else does it do?
RD: We also have a department that builds Mikvaos. A Rav without a Mikvah is like someone with one hand tied behind his back. How can a Rav discuss Taharas HaMishpacha without access to a Mikvah? This is something else that we do.
INT: One would think that there would be worldwide condemnation against Leib Tropper, the former leader of the EJF, and its organization - yet there is virtually nothing. Why is that?
RD: We are amazed why it is. We unmasked this organization and the chap who ran it, I would not call him Rabbi - before this scandal.. We found him to be a control freak and a megalo-maniac, we found him to be so disrespectful of Rabbanim that there was a unanimous vote of the standing committee to make sure that he and his organization do not enter Europe.
Having a seminar of mixed intermarried couples to convert is so bizarre - this was all done in order to gain favor with their sponsor.. We decided, en masse that we wanted nothing to do with EJF .. We are amazed that the Gedolim have not come out against this. We do not understand this at all.
I will press and will continue to press very hard to continue to ensure that this organization ceases from its nefarious activities.
INT: Are you aware of any improprieties by this organization in terms of pushing onto the batei Dinim questionable Geirus?
RD: I have heard stories from America in this regard, but do not know firsthand. I have found the tape to be so terribly shocking, however, that anything can be.
INT: Have you experienced this organization undoing a proper Geirus?
RD: I have only heard that they do such things but do not know of anything for certain. I like to know names and facts before I take a stand on something as serious as this.
I have no idea what their criterion [for geirus] is, if a geirus came in we would make inquiries. We do know of certain unscrupulous batei dinim - there are questionable rabbonim. We look at the geirus that comes up on the table.
This EJF was a random organization, a private organization by a miniscule Rosh Yeshiva in Monsey. What are we talking about here? He has no experience. It is a private organization that got numerous people involved in it for reasons that we all know.. He tried to assume authority and dictated to people what they can and cannot do.. I don’t know why Mr. Tom Kaplan would do this..
INT: Are you convinced that these tapes are legitimate?
RD: Yes, absolutely. I heard the tapes, I know his voice. They are absolutely, totally, and completely genuine.. The whole thing is sick. Never in my entire klal life did I ever experience anything like this. It is quite sick I am 72 years old and, unfortunately, I was exposed to these tapes. I had to hear things that never in my life I would thought to hear. To think of the person and what he did. So unbelievable and so terrible!
INT: But what about the possible good work that he may have done here? Should we throw out the entire organization because of what he did?
RD: Yes, absolutely. Mendelson translated the Tanach into German. He was an apikores. I once asked my father (Rav Dunner‘s father was the head of Keddassiah)- He said, “Abba, it is Assur, this is apikorsus any work that he has done has apikorsus in it..
The same goes to an organization that has been founded by this depraved individual.. He has no right whatsoever to have a Yeshiva.. He is a man that should stay home and be happy that nobody stones him. The same goes for his organization..
Let Mr. Kaplan put his money into Jewish education. Schools are dying because of this economic situation. That is the future of Klal Yisroel.. He could do so much more with his money. The amount of money that has gone down through this black hole is sinful.. Don’t pollute our Jewish world with this type of organization..
INT: What would you recommend American Rabbonim do in the meantime?
RD: They should organize themselves and come up with an alternative method of evaluating geirus.. There are very capable and fine Rabbonim in America. They are quite capable of doing it themselves and working it out themselves. I am sure they can do that to put their house in order.. They should not take money from such an organization..
INT: What in your opinion should Rabbis do who have accepted money personally when they attended these EJF Conferences?
RD: If someone got personal money they should give it to tzedaka, as being part of the backers of EJF - they should immediately give it away. Not back to the EJF.
But chas veshalom they should put it in their pockets..
They should also write a letter to EJF and say, “We want nothing to do with the organization and the funds we received we are forwarding to the following tzedaka organization.. The mosdos of chinuch.” If there is all that money, it should be given to a useful purpose..
INT: Are there any other statements you would like to say regarding this situation?
RD: I call upon every single Rav in America to look at themselves in the mirror and say to themselves:
“Did I do the right thing [in taking EJF money]? For the sake of Chillul Hashem we should show that when the truth comes out, we should say we made a mistake. We know the truth - a genuine mistake. We were wrong. We therefore say, “EJF goodbye! Close down. We don’t need you.” and say to Tom Kaplan, “Please use your money for education.” - That is my call to them..
INT: Thank you Rabbi Dunner, this has been most enlightening.

In its decision Monday, the Judicial Conduct Commission outlined an effort by Judge Himelein over 10 months ending in April 2008 to spur action by judges across the state. In mass e-mail messages, he urged judges to refuse to hear cases filed by many law firms that employ members of the Assembly and the Senate. The commission’s decision said the e-mail messages proved that “the driving reason for his recusals was strategic, not ethical” in disqualifying himself from 11 cases.
In one of the e-mails, he called the Assembly Speaker, Sheldon Silver, a “slug” and said that the judges’ power to refuse to handle cases involving legislators’ law firms was “the only way we have any standing at all with those clowns.”
Referring to Mr. Silver, who is associated with the large law firm Weitz & Luxenberg, the judge wrote in a 2007 e-mail message: “When Shelley’s firm can’t get a divorce heard or will probated or a trial date, see if that doesn’t spur some action.”

The present case is not a question of differences in halacha or hashkofa. We are not arguing about how high a mechitza needs to be or whether artificial insemination produces mamzerim.
We are talking about how to deal with a menuval and those who supported him. We are asking why those who were his associates are not criticitzing him. Why they refuse to admit that something was wrong.
There were many who were at least facilitators to a huge chillul hashem. Their silence means that they want us to forget about it or that they simply refuse to take any responsiblity for it.
That is causing a greater chillul hashem then the disgusting behavior of tropper. The whole world is laughing at us.
I am protesting against that greater chillul hashem that is caused by not only their silence but their acting as if the disgusting acts that they and their organization are associated are an insignificant abberation.
I see from the front page of today's Yated that Tropper associate Nachum/Norman Eisenstein is still going full-speed ahead. Out of 4 headlines, there were 2 about the Internet ban, one of which announced a public meeting about the subject, and the other continuing to say that schools will be snooping on the parents of their students to see if they use the Internet. A third headline was about the giyur controversy, Eisenstein's and Tropper's main issue. Only one headline out of 4 was about general news (coalition negotiations). Wow!

Feds: Plant sold uninspected poultry
A kosher chicken slaughterhouse and processing plant in New Square has sold uninspected meat since 2002 and continues to operate under unsanitary conditions, a federal complaint says.
The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York is seeking a temporary restraining order and a preliminary injunction against New Square Meats for numerous violations of the federal Poultry Products Inspection Act.
"The defendants … have demonstrated a brazen disregard for the health and welfare of the consumers of its poultry products," the U.S. Attorney's Office wrote in a court document. It said the defendants have "repeatedly flouted" the law and ignored requests by federal investigators to provide necessary records.
According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, federal inspectors observed a "multitude" of unsanitary conditions during a visit in April.
Inspectors found poultry residue on the plant's walls, a light fixture and the phone of the manager's office. The employee restroom did not have hand soap, sanitizer or paper towels in it. In the processing area, rusting wall brackets were above the work tables, and a chiller tank did not have running water, even though it was full of processed birds. Outside of the building, there were piles of rubbish and trash and pools of stagnant water with a foul odor.
The plant slaughters approximately 1,500 to 1,600 birds a day from Sunday through Thursday.
In 2008, it slaughtered and sold more than 355,000 birds. Virtually all of its poultry products go to Oneg Poultry, a grocery store in New Square. One plant official told inspectors in 2005 that all of the products are transported to the store in an unrefrigerated van.
New Square Meats, which also does business as Ezras Yisrael, Ezras Israel and Adir Poultry Inc., has been seeking to build a larger plant, off Route 45, but has been met with fierce local resistance.
The proposed plant would be next to a residential neighborhood in New Hempstead.
Ira Emanuel, a New City-based attorney for Adir Poultry, did not return a phone message left for him late Monday afternoon.
Two protests have been held near the facility. The last one, on Nov. 1, drew about 200 people.
In February 2003, the government said that plant officials falsely represented to the state Department of Agriculture and Markets that the plant would soon be subject to federal inspection.
In January 2004, the state stopped performing sanitation inspections of the operation, believing the federal government would take over the oversight.
In September 2004, the government said the facility's manager, Pinches Goldklang, admitted in a written statement that the plant was slaughtering roughly 2,000 heads of poultry a week and selling it without inspection.
Over the years, authorities said federal inspectors were routinely stalled by plant officials when they attempted to access key records needed for the enforcement of the federal poultry law.
During planned food safety visits, inspectors over the years had observed unsanitary conditions, including excessive fat and protein buildup on the walls and windows, mold on walls and overhead surfaces in all rooms, cobwebs on overhead structures, large pools of standing water as well as missing ceiling panels.
In May 2007, the USDA sent two Notices of Alleged Violation to plant officials, alleging violations of the federal law.
Officials failed to respond to either notice.

Sorry, that is not true. Please provide support for that assertion.
Firstly, it is SOOOO hypcritical for Agudah to be bashing those who live large with fancy homes, cars, and vacations while charging an arm and a leg to attend a convention like this. In this economy, how many families can truly afford this? Should I spend over $1000 to take my family away for a Shabbos? Maybe I shouldn't, because then others who can't afford it will feel compeled to do so anyway. Same logic, right?
The fact that it was "sold out" is misleading and intelectually dishonest, IMO. The only reason it was booked solid is because some wealthy members of Agudah(read: nursing home owners) booked ALL of the rooms so that : A-Agudah can consider it a success and advertise it as such. B- The 99% of Agudah members, rabbonim, and mechanchim in town who could never even think of spending money for this could be "sponsored" and given free rooms and food for the weekend. Please understand - there is nothing wrong with this in practice, but calling it sold out is deceptive, since they considered it to be "sold out" before it even went on sale. I'd be curious to know how many of the masses paid the full retail price for this convention - probably the same percentage that pay full tuition.
Secondly, Agudah Midwest hired a caterer from (gasp)Lakewood to come in to do the food service for the weekend. Let me get this straight: Agudah sends me literature (and envelopes)all the time asking me to support my LOCAL Agudah camps,programs,posek,calendar,etc., but they won't support a local caterer? When I inquired about this to one of the Agudah higher-ups, I was told that the price for the Lakewood outfit was so low, that "nobody in town could even come close." I find that very hard to believe, and it is beside the point. If you are an organization that relies on the community for support, then you have an obligation to support the community.

I know that I'm anonymous and I wouldn't believe me if I read this. But I know from an extremely reliable source that Tropper would threaten (and carry out his threats against) Jewish courts unless they approved conversions that he wanted. Specifically, if they did not approve his conversions they would never get any conversion business in the future. Certainly, this did not allow these courts to remain neutral.
The EJF website says that Chaim Blum, "EJF's liaison to the network of Botei Din in the Torah community, has agreed to serve as interim director of EJF."
Isn't that just a continuation of the old regime, having been taught by the master, and using the same courts that had been vetted by Tropper?
Chaim Blum & Fallsburg Kollel stayed in business through Tropper monies passed through Barros, who had no clout with the Charedi community until then.

As someone who was told their original conversion was invalid because of the members of the beis din (all of whom were frum rabbonim), I think the rav here has hit the nail on the head. There is however another issue I feel is being ignored in all this though.
No one stood up for gerim who had their past conversions declared invalid. After I was told my gerus was invalid I had many rabbonim privately say to me that it was just “all politics” and that since I was frum it was ridiculous to make me do it again. The issue in my case centered around the av beis din for my gerus, who was apparently some sort of enemy of EJF. However, I still had to do it again through the EJF (and pay a large sum) because these same rabbonim shrugged and said “well hey politics is politics” and that there was nothing they could do since it was “bigger than them.” In other words I, along with other gerim, was thrown under the bus by the leaders of the frum community.
Now everyone runs around and condemns the past actions of this organization. However, when everything was going down in terms of invalidating conversions everyone (including rabbonim) stood by silent while frum gerim were dragged through the mud. Shame.

I doubt that you are going to see much more, if anything in the major media outlets (unless the video is released). Reason being that the audio's have gone up all over the web, including Youtube. Essentially it is a story that was killed by the overzealous enemies of Tropper who wanted to embarrass him as much as possible as quickly as possible. I have spoken with editors of major publications about this, as it stands, before their legal departments will allow them to publish anything they would need to get the audio's and video authenticated. That requires a service putting their name on it and taking responsibility, which requires major fees. The media outlets are not intending that kind of monetary put out for a story that is essentially old news to almost everyone that cares.
Perhaps if a federal Prosecutor or even state DA would take up the case and charge Tropper with something, the press might carry it. However, that is also unlikely. The woman would have to be willing to testify, while I cannot speak as to her current state of mind in that regard, I doubt that in the long run that she would. Tropper's people have enough damaging information about her, to cause her serious embarrassment in the long run.
There will probably be something forth coming from R' Shternbuch on the matter, as well as the rest of the Eidah. Perhaps a few of the Gedolim who were not recipients of money from Tropper may also speak out.

Lipa Brenner used to be VP of Iggud Harabbonim. Despite Rav Pam assering him from stepping foot in Torah Vodaas because of the child rape, in a shul no less, he remains good friends with Rabbi Belsky. Feivy Mendlowitz has a $100 reward for anyone snapping a picture of them embracing or shaking hands at a simcha.
Brenner had protekzia which is why District Attorney Hynes didn't put him away for a long time. Lipa or "Lewis" Brenner was also behind a fraud where he stole tens of millions of dollars through his former ambulance company. He got off the hook in that case by testifying against bigger fish.

Leib Tropper is still credited as the Rosh Yeshiva of Kol Yaakov (where R’ Nisson Wolpin’s brother is Mashgiach Ruchani) and apparently is still the head of the kiruv organization, "Horizons." Rabbis continue to teach at Kol Yaakov and give the impression that their rosh yeshiva a great man who along with his enablers is qualified to disseminate authentic Judaism. Since Tropper has stepped down from his role at Eternal Jewish Family, R’ Reuven Feinstein has now said he is going to take a more active role in said organization. Tropper’s organization thus is given more legitimacy than it did before.
I recently had a discussion with a friend about this scandal. He told me he’d wait to see what gedolim say, and I assume that this is what the community is going to do as well. R’ Reuven Feinstein seems to have made his position clear and I think, based on what we have seen in the past secular calendar year, others will follow: through their silence, it will be intimated that Tropper can remain in his position as a great teacher of Torah; people will then speculate and twist their thumbs as to why this is so, but the end result will be a keeping of the status quo.
This event, like the Isaac Hersh saga (I won't get into that right now), may fade from the blogs as new controversies wax and wane and Tropper interprets verses. The legitimization of Leib Tropper as a Rosh Yeshiva while R’ Natan Slifkin was banned from teaching Torah for saying things like Chazal can be wrong about science (I’m paraphrasing R’ Wachtfogel)…is disgusting and shows that at the end of the day, moral standards are not as high in some circles as their apologists claim them to be. As a mentor recently noted to me, the phrase kol hapasul bemumo pasul truly applies here.

“Profiling? When you look at 9/11 and what happened with the Arabic community, we cannot expect anything different,” Mr. Ajiri said. “It is just unfortunate that one individual is going to ruin reputations for the rest of the Nigerians. When we travel now, the system will make us pay, and I don’t feel good about it.”

A top Brooklyn rabbi has been forbidden from being near his 13-year-old son after the teen called the cops on his father for beating him.
The son of Rebbe Sholom Twersky, 49, told police that his father scratched and slapped him on Oct. 28, hurting his arms, according to court records. The boy was taken to Maimonides Medical Center, where he was treated and released.
"He lost it and started slapping the kid around, and the kid wasn't going to take it," a police source said.
The Brooklyn district attorney's office charged the father of 12 with assault, endangering the welfare of a child and harassment.
The city's Administration for Children's Services is investigating the case, police sources said, and a temporary order of protection is keeping the dad away from his ninth child.
Twersky, leader of the Foltishen Hasidic sect, is allowed to run his congregation - Beth Hatfilah on 49th St. in Borough Park - but is not permitted to have "incidental contact" with his son inside their home located above the synagogue, according to court records.
Twersky's political influence was well-known in Borough Park, but became apparent within City Hall inner circles after the arrest.
Fred Kreizman, assistant commissioner of the Mayor's Community Affairs Unit, went to Borough Park to help the influential rabbi.
Cops kept Twersky out of the 66th Precinct's holding cell while Kreizman sat with him waiting for word on the arraignment, police sources said.
"Kreizman is a Jewish community liaison and it is not unusual for him to be present when a Jewish leader is involved in an incident," a City Hall spokesman said.
According to family, police and City Hall sources, Twersky went to upstate Monsey after his son phoned police.
Kreizman, who serves as the top Jewish liaison for Mayor Bloomberg, is a longtime associate of Twersky, and convinced the patriarch to turn himself in to police.

When will these tzoros stop and what will it take from us! Kehilas Yaakov has been singled out to be dealt blow after blow of young, ehrlich individuals passing away in an untimely manner. Why has this trend been continuing despite our Tehillim groups etc.? Has Rabbi Bess offered you a concrete and reasonable explanation to why Kehilas Yaakov has been singled out? Of course not! All that he suggested was Tehillim, Tehillim , and more Tehillim! Tehillim is nothing to laugh about, but still just a “bandaid” in solving the real problem. Did you ever see in TENACH that Tehillim stopped plagues? What stopped the plagues was concrete steps taken by Bnei Yisroel in stopping certain “trends of sin” such as Sinas Chinom or Avoida zoro etc…

Absolution-
This form of Penance has not changed for centuries. The role of the priest is as a minister of G-d's mercy, the penitent confesses mortal sins and makes a reparation (donation) in order to restore his relationship to G-d.
A guy like Tropper with his multi millionaire backers could do a lot of sinning without losing his grace in the Catholic Church as long as he would have others to "pay" for him.

New Yorkers should be appalled at their failed state government, particularly their corrupt and clueless Legislature. Scandal and irresponsibility have been Albany’s creed for decades. This year, the gang added another outrage to the list: complete fiscal incompetence.
The only solace is this: The entire Legislature is up for re-election in 2010. And unless there is a sudden turnaround — and, so far, we see few signs of it — New Yorkers have no choice but to vote out all the lawmakers and start over.
If there is any doubt left, here are just a few reminders of this year’s worst of the worst:
WHAT, US WORRY? New York has been on the brink of economic collapse, but the Legislature blithely ignored the problem for months. When the deficit reached a truly alarming $3.2 billion, the lawmakers grudgingly agreed to last-minute fixes while carefully protecting their political buddies and donors. That meant rich school districts on Long Island kept their money (until Gov. David Paterson imposed a temporary, across-the-board reduction), but 500,000 schoolchildren in New York City — many of whom can’t afford it — will now have to pay to ride the subway to class.
Even after draining state savings accounts and using federal stimulus dollars that were supposed to be spent next year, they still fell $500 million short. Next year is now a few hours away. The state is already in the red, and it could be facing a $9 billion deficit by March. Yet there is no sign that legislative leaders have spent much time thinking about how to address this disaster.

Rabbi Ephraim Lazerson, principal of Bais Yaacov Miami asked my foster daughter to stay after school to help in the office. He sneaked up behind her and began to fondle her.
We went to R' Leib Schapiro and asked for help, what to do and were told not to report because it would ruin shidduchim.
Another foster daughter of ours also had a problem with Lazerson. She was kicked out of BY.

Orthodox Seen Lured Into 'Affinity Fraud' Totaling $200 Million
London Beth Din had a kashrus supervisor who, after quite a few years supervising things like sherry , wine etc. was found out to be non-jewish.
He had a quicky convertion, married his wife again, and then soon left England and judaism fairer shores.
I think he went off because the wine and sherry should had been recalled as he was not jewish and it was 'stam yayin', but the dayonim swept it under the carpet. He realised it was all fake.
This is so ironic!
The London Beth Din would be one of the first organisations which would be banned by the EJF.
All Dayonim and Rabbonim in UK know that more than 90% of LBD converts do not accept Torah and Mitzvos, and do not follow any kind of orthodox jewish life.
I have followed many case studies from start (beginning to learn), till well after going to mikvah.
Two examples:
A one parent family converted after six months that is quite fast in any place! Straight after converting they went to one of the ladies non-jewish boy friends for a holiday, to recover from the stressing time she, and her kids had been though.
A jewish man married a non-jewish girl, his wealthy father was not happy and demanded she convert, she played a good act and got though the 'tests'. As soon as she had converted her father-in-law took the whole family out to celebrate at a non kosher restaurant.
These blatant acts of hypocrisy occurred within a week of converting, so I ask, how sincerely did they accept Torah and Mitzvos ?
The LBD had a used to have a good reputation, but that was in the days of Dayan Abramsky and his ilk, it now appears to be a complete farce!

She ended the year finally being forced to admit that she had deceived air board members by refusing to tell them about the bizarre scandal involving an air board scientist who lied about his academic background before the members approved controversial new rules based on the scientist’s work.
The scientist, a fellow named Hien Tran, claimed to have a Ph.D. in statistics from UC Davis. When that was shown to be a lie, he provided the air board with a mail-order Ph.D. from a sham university affiliated with fugitive pedophile Avrohom Mondrowitz.
The absurd kicker to this story: Tran still works for the air board. In Mary Nichols’ air board, you see, your honesty and your academic qualifications don’t matter – just your willingness to provide research that gives Nichols cover to impose ever-more-sweeping rules burdening the economy, whatever the cost in jobs and human suffering.
People think that the reason Weinstein has not yet been arrested is because he cut a deal with the feds, where as long as he keeps getting more people on tape, he can stay free. There is also a rumor that Weinstein is afraid of physical violence at the hands of his fraud victims. Weinstein never goes anywhere without his driver, AF. Weinstein knows how to drive, so the belief is that AF is actually his bodyguard.

To Baltimore's correct Din - I have written this before, although it has not gained any traction. The only way we will change things is by a grassroots effort from the bottom up. What you wrote in your posting needs to be sent in letter form to the entire orthodox community of Baltimore, and perhaps Washington/Silver Spring as well. Generally speaking, I believe letters should be going out to the entire orthodox community of N. America pointing out the seemingly endless desecrations of G-d's name which are being allowed by our leaders and so called gedolim. It needs to be our version of the teabaggers. We have to band together. It is difficult to do this alone, for I have children that I don't want to be negatively impacted if I should be outed as a "troublemaker". It's a very sensitive issue, but needs the backing of people like UOJ and others that are already publically known. I am just one man and I do have great apprehension about this. However, there is strength in numbers which could help provide us with the resolve to actually do it. We all have access to our local mailing lists. It can be done. I have sent an email or two to the UOJ, but I guess he is unimpressed with my idea, for no response was received. I did receive some encouragement from another blog owner, but he wants it to be more localized efforts. That is great in theory, but it increases the risk of revenge on the part of the local community if it is just me they can threaten, ostracize, etc..

But he lost to RGS in both Torah Vodaath and to the world at large. Far more people learn RGS's torah (in hashkafa AND learning) than they do RYK's. They were both outstanding torah scholars and were intellectually brilliant, but history bears out that RGS, although twenty years younger than RYK, was up to the task in every respect.
The machlokes is hard to understand. I dont think Rav Schorr had any personal issue with R' Yaakov, per se. Famously, R' Yaakov said about Rav Schorr that he is modeh that Rav Schorr has outstanding children and that Rav Schorr never said a bad word to R' Yaakov. However, there was no guidance as to who should take over the yeshiva. And so the question as to who is the Rosh Yeahiva after Rav Reuven's passing became more and more pressing as the two had different views as to how to run the yeshiva. Rav Yaakov's TV would have been more like Philly. Rav Schorr's was, in practice, more like Rav Shraga Feivel's yeshiva. My father was in TV when R' Yaakov left and for ten years afterward. He stated that TV was in its prime at the time.
2) It's impossible to judge Gedolim by how much their torah is learnt ,since their influence could be felt in so many diffrent ways.which is why i woulde have to say that RYK influnce today is far far greater then RGS, since there are many roshei yeshiva and roshei mosdos who are following R yankif's derech in many different areas, R Meir STERN comes to mind. While even RGS own children are very far from their fathers ways.

UOJ - I think you meant Rabbi Eisemnan's shul in Passaic. I know, it is confusing - Moshe Eiseman, Normie Eisenstein, and Rabbi R. Y. Eisenman, shlita.
The gatherings in shuls will be few and far between because most Rabbanim don't want to face the facts. Although blogs have had an impact, we are still to a great degree considered scoffers.
What I am proposing would mean penetrating the every day frum yid who has no clue what is going on.
I guarantee you that in my city, there might not be a minyan of men who have any clue what is going on. When I bring it up, they are clueless. I want the ordinary Jew, the layman, to know what is going on, so that at least they have a choice as to whether or not they should blindly follow their local Rav. Most people I know don't know about all these blogs, and any that do tend to think it is a bunch of people looking to cause machlokes.

Rabbi, temple in legal battle

South Fallsburg – Rabbi Isaac Gottlieb wouldn't let the two men stop him from giving a sermon three Saturdays ago.
So what if one of them was the president of the synagogue?
So what if he was fired as the rabbi in December?
And so what if Gottlieb sued the synagogue in March to get his job back?
Gottlieb kept going, or, as the court papers put it, continued "to ramble."
On April 19, three days after that sermon, the South Fallsburg Hebrew Association filed its own lawsuit against Gottlieb.
It seems the rabbi won't stop being the rabbi.
The suit accuses Gottlieb of trying to ruin the reputation of the association and its members, and, among other things, creating, "animosity, dissension and confusion."
The association is suing Gottlieb for $260,000 in damages.
At the association's urging, state Supreme Court Judge Nicholas Clemente issued a restraining order against Gottlieb, barring him from entering the synagogue or representing himself as the association's rabbi.
A hearing is set for May 17 in state Supreme Court in Sullivan County.
"He is no longer welcome upon the premises," Steven Altman, the association's president, stated in an affidavit.
Since Gottlieb filed his suit against the association, which it calls "frivolous" and "malicious" in its own court papers, he has given sermons at the synagogue at least three times in the past two months and sent out letters on South Fallsburg Hebrew Association letterhead, the association's court papers allege.
No one involved in either lawsuit would comment.
The association's suit also alleges that Gottlieb's complaint, filed in a Jewish rabbinical court after his firing, was intended to "blackball" the synagogue in the Orthodox Jewish community.
And, the association claims, Gottlieb called the new rabbi, Yakov Barros, to say he was still the rabbi and no one could take his place.
The association is reportedly sending out a letter, which explains the situation with Gottlieb to its members, along with its April newsletter.
The three bold-letter items in the newsletter, in order, are "Happy Passover," "Isaac Gottlieb no longer associated with our shul" and "Yakov Barros comes on board as our new rabbi."

To the reader from Toronto who sent me a lengthy e-mail -- an extremely reasoned and logical point by point -- comment - on an individual who was attacked here in the comment section.
I apologize, I can not locate that e-mail, I have a little time today and was going to respond.
The individual in question that you were referring to, unfortunately, has had numerous substantiated complaints lodged by different people. Now...I am not saying that he is guilty of anything, nor can I claim that the accusations would hold up in a court of law, but there were enough sources I was able to verify the allegations with, that I felt was enough to permit the comments on him to pass the moderation stage here.

The reason why Tropper has so much control over Barros is because he is a ger from Brazil converted by Tropper and his wife from Moldavia was forced by Tropper to have giyur lechumrah.
Barros is like an obedient little puppy who is always at Tropper's beck & call.
The molester from Magen David in Toronto does not work at the main Isaac's bakery on Bathurst st. He works at the branch in Sunnybrook Plaza across the St from CHAT high school and Wilmington Park. Luna may not have known he was a molester since it was hushed up. Luna is no longer well and is in an institution.
I emailed UOJ court documents including the testimony of several expert witnesses who wrote sworn statements that Amram Bendahan sexually molested his son.
Based upon the testimony of the expert witnesses (court appointed psychologists), the Judge issued the warrant for Bendahan's arrest for felony child abuse.
Bendahan fled to Toronto where he became the youth director at BAYT under Rabbi Taub. Rabbi Taub told the GA authorities that Bendahan was deceased back in 1990 when they called to inquire about him.
In Toronto, Bendahan molested other boys. I know the names. Rabbi Taub again covered it up as did Ron Weiss at JFS.
Bendahan then came to Miami where he continued to molest little boys.
I know the names of the boys he molested in Miami. I also know the names of other adults who witnessed the molestation of one of the boys.
I have reported everything to the Police who are still investigating. But due to the well orchestrated coverup by the local Rabbis and the Rabbis in Toronto, it is very difficult for the police to do anything.

BTW, you gotta wonder why Bnai Sephardim pays their youth director 100k per year. He does not have smicha or a college degree.
The woman who had the job until last year when Bendahan was hired has a Masters in Jewish Education from Bar Ilan. She is very well liked and they paid her a quarter of what they pay Bendahan.

I know that RGS was very close to lipa margolius. And of course Reb Yakov abhorred margolius. Did the machlokas between RGS and RYK have anything to do with margolius ?

Not only is RGS a friend of Margulies, RGS attends the groundbreaking of the "YESHIVA TORAH VODAATH OF FLATBUSH" - after RYK his rebbe, and the rosh yeshiva of YTV - pleads with him not to go for the kavod of RSFM and the future generations of bnei Torah.
After 10 years or so during the din Torah --- going on while Margulies' thievery is being built with stolen mamon hekdesh - RGS ignores the pleas of his rebbe RYK - certainly recognized as one of the two gedolei hador, and defies not only mentchlekeit but heaps more bizyonos on the holy YTV!

This synagogue is a disaster that had more rabbis than you can count. It was basically destroyed by Maurice Benzacar the big shot from Jewish Immigrant Aid Services and his friends. But now that they are gone up north to Sephardi Kehillah Centre the damage has already been done.

I always thought (mistakenly) that YTV of Flatbush (torah temimma) was developed with the board of YTV (with margo in charge) and later it was hijacked by margolius. I didn't realize that there were "gneivos" and that it was "chazar treif" from the very beggining.
What's interesting was that up until at least the mid-70's YTV of Flatbush elementary school graduates went on to the regular Yeshiva Torah Voddaas high school.
I guess all of that changed when margo decided to open up a high school as well.
I'm also suprised how belsky (who was supposedly close to RYK) could be so friendly with margolius.
In the early 70's Rebbis were going on strike every "montag and dornshtig". And Belsky was definitely effected by all of that. Imagine if at the time the yeshiva had all of that money to pay all of the rebbeim (including belsky).
Note: I always wondered why RYK didn't go to RGS's levayeh. It just didn't make sense at the time. But i'm sure we'll soon be hearing some more information.

Margulies was an employee of YTV who convinced the Board that is was in YTV's interest to expand into the new Jewish neighborhoods.

U.S. Intensifies Screening for Travelers From 14 Nations

WASHINGTON — Citizens of 14 nations, including Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Nigeria, who are flying to the United States will be subjected indefinitely to the intense screening at airports worldwide that was imposed after the Christmas Day bombing plot, Obama administration officials announced Sunday.
But American citizens, and most others who are not flying through those 14 nations on their way to the United States, will no longer automatically face the full range of intensified security that was imposed after the attempted bombing of a Northwest Airlines flight, officials said.
The change represents an easing of the immediate response to the attempted bombing of a flight from Amsterdam to Detroit that had been in place the past week. But the restrictions remain tougher than the rules that were in effect before the Dec. 25 incident. And the action on Sunday further establishes a global security system that treats people differently based on what country they are from, evoking protests from civil rights groups.
Citizens of Cuba, Iran, Sudan and Syria, countries that are considered “state sponsors of terrorism,” as well as those of “countries of interest” — including Afghanistan, Algeria, Lebanon, Libya, Iraq, Nigeria, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Somalia and Yemen — will face the special scrutiny, officials said.
Passengers holding passports from those nations, or taking flights that originated or passed through any of them, will be required to undergo full-body pat downs and will face extra scrutiny of their carry-on bags before they can board planes to the United States.

Rabbi Lehrfield is semi retired.
Rabbi Lehrfield feels as though he is in no position to protest anything because he himself has done hundreds of "conversions" to permit intermarriages. To the best of my knowledge, only one of these conversions has ever been accepted in Israel and that was a woman named "Odedia" who ended up going to Israel and opening a Jews for Jesus Church. None of Rabbi Lehrfield's conversions (and I am also told by a reliable source this also applies to SOME Gittin) have been accepted in Israel since this was discovered.
Rabbi Ephraim Shapiro has never been the same since chemo. No one ever is. He is not going to take a stand and I do not believe that it is right to harass him over this either. Rabbi Schmeltzer is married to Rabbi Ephraim Shapiro's sister and knows better than anyone what is going on. Neither he nor his mother can do anything to help anyone or anything.
North Miami Beach and all of South Florida lacks Rabbinical leadership and at least part of the blame for this is the fact that so many Rabbonim in NY and Baltimore have "assured" Miami as "not a frum place".
South Florida is the second largest Jewish community in the US and because of the "heimishe oilam's" assur, there is a great lack of Rabbinical leadership. No serious talmidei Chachamim want to stigmatize the family by taking a position in Florida.
So we are stuck with what we have, which is Lubavitch who consider all Hispanics to be "anusim" and who treat them as full Jews.

On the heels of Mr. Roed-Larsen's now infamous remark that Israel "ceded all moral ground" in Jenin, comes word from his home country of Norway that some supermarket chains have decided to place special identification stickers o products from Israel.
Other Scandinavian countries may follow suit.
The Norwegians say the stickers do not constitute a "boycott" of Israel: they just want their customers, who are overwhelmingly pro-Palestinian, to pay attention to where these products are produced.
Maybe the rest of us should run down to our local supermarkets with a pad of yellow "post-it" notes, so that consumers of Norwegian salmon can also pay attention to where those are produced. Stick them on the packages with a note: these products come from a place with a shameful past that continues to operate as a European free zone for Neo-Nazis and other right wing extremists.
Those asking the question of whether Europeans are anti-Israel because of Israel's actions in fighting terror, or because of their own latent anti-Semitism, should study the example o Norway. Behind the current disclaimer of a boycott, you will find that Norwegians are quite experienced at boycotting Israel.

Among other racist and anti-immigration views, this party advocate banning male circumcision.

With a minimum donation of only $500 to our shul to help pay our bills, you can submit a name to us, and the whole Sefer Tehilim will be read DAILY for that name for the ENTIRE YEAR for any general reason you choose (in memory of a deceased relative, refuah shelema for an ill person, or just hatzlaha for Torah, health, and business, for example). We're also lowering the weekly donation to $52 a week, if a shorter time period is what you're interested in. As before, the name and reason will be verbalized before the reading. While there are no guarantees for any outcomes regardless of how much one prays, one thing is certain: the zechut of giving tzedaka in conjunction with having the entire Sefer Tehilim read on your behalf daily can be a very powerful advocate to have in Shamayim, which is something all of us can use! You can rest a little easier knowing your one time donation is going to benefit a Syrian community shul in Lakewood, and at the same time knowing you'll be covered throughout the year with a daily reading of the whole Sefer Tehilim on your, or your loved one's, behalf. If need be, payments can be made over time, e.g. half now, half later or $125 every three months. Being that the donation is tax deductible and it can be taken out of ma'aser, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Shechter loves Lazerson to bits. He has some of Lazerson's sons in CB and he sends troubled girls, like Abe Fruchthandler's einikel meidel who likes to party down to Lazerson's "bais yakov" in hot Miami -- let's hope she's not "happy" there because Lazerson is not just the menahel but also the "fondler-in-chief" in swingin' Miami.
Now here's the thread to follow, guess who else is a love-object of Aron Shechter, none other than the notorious crazed BT Michael Hersh who still sits right behind Shechter's tuches on Shabbos. Shechter is still so proud of this Hersh maniac, it only confirms how twisted, evil and senile Shechter's mind is by now. He should be in a senior home, but he insists on ruining people's lives. No matter that the entire Torah and Jewish world condemned Shechter and Hersh for their crazy diabolical scheme to have the Mormon goons kidnap Isaac Hersh in the middle of the night (in the heart of Flatbush yet) and send the scrawny kid in irons to a concentration camp down in Jamaica where goyisha kids are beaten up, drown in their own vomit, and commit suicide (the new face of corrective chinuch according to Shechter -- tell that to the Torah Umesorah menahalim at their next gatherings and see what they think.)
And into this chollent of evil, throw in Leib Tropper whom Aron Shechter loves to absolute bits. Shechter's jaw cannot stretch wide enough to stage his fake smile when "Leib" nears him in fake submissiveness or talks to him like a con-man. Inside CB it's no secret that Shechter has been the main brains and adviser and diabolical strategist from hell in ALL of Tropper's schemes. Shechter has taken in many of Tropper's boys and he loves their brainwashed state of mind.
So there you have it. Lazerson in Miami, Hersh in Brooklyn, and Tropper in Monsey, all sociopaths and variations on the theme of scum, lowlifes and dangers to society, hiding behind the dark coat-tails of Shechter's well-groomed kappote that he should never have put on, because all Shechter really is, is an over-grown school-yard bully who screams and terrorizes anyone he wants to control and destroy, as the former mashgiach of CB, Rav Shlomo Carlebach experienced together with many other victims of Shechter's terrorist rage and vengeance, but of course to psychophants and obedient lackies like Lazerson, Hersh, and Tropper, this does not apply because they in turn abuse others and think it won't catch up with them...but now it does!

Today that type of communal behavior no longer is acceptable. Those who violate communal standards, even those who commit crimes - including violent crimes - are welcomed back into the community with open arms.
When I served in the rabbinate in the UK, I witnessed this phenomenon taken to new heights or, more to the point, new depths. A primary school "rebbe," after serving time in prison for involvement with child pornography, returned home only to once again sit in his prized seat in the shul he had formerly attended. His fellow worshippers warmly welcomed him back into the fold.
I believe there is a place in society for the communal cold shoulder. It sends a message that certain behaviors will not be tolerated by the community at large and will have consequences in the life of the perpetrator. Society is not required to embrace people's foibles and improprieties - and certainly not their unlawful deeds. One way it can express its distaste is by not interacting with an individual who has transgressed community standards or broken the law.

NMB guy has been ranting about schmeltzer for a while now. The people from NMB & MB in general whom I know, don't have a problem with him. I don t know what his beef with Zweig was, but Zweig's people should get over it!

Founded and run by the unpredictable and colorful Rabbi Shlomo Schwartz, best known as just Schwartzie, the Chai Center makes Judaism accessible and hip for the estimated 10,000 to 15,000 Jews who attend its events every year.
At 62, Schwartzie is enormously popular and beloved. A defiantly independent and off-beat character, he can schmooze it up with Hollywood types or go green with millennial do-gooders. His long white beard gives him a look that is both rabbinic and grandfatherly; his untethered vernacular and quirky style make it clear he fits no mold.
His hallmark event is Dinner for 60 Strangers, which he and his wife, Olivia, host every Friday night in their home.
And it was that Shabbat event that attracted Jamie Katz (not her real name), a 42-year-old paralegal and entrepreneur.
Katz was on an emotional mission to deepen her Jewish identity. When her mother was dying a year ago, she had a last request for her daughter: Go explore your Jewish heritage. Join a temple, find a Jewish man.
Jamie's mother, who was Japanese, had converted to Judaism some 45 years before, when she married Jamie's father. Katz and her two brothers had studied at Temple Emanuel religious school in Beverly Hills, and while she says she never felt like she completely fit in as a Japanese Jew, she never considered herself anything but Jewish.
A few weeks ago a friend told her about the Chai Center, so she went online and registered for the Shabbat dinner at the Schwartzes' home. The food was great, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, and Katz felt as if she belonged.
The following Sunday, however, she received an e-mail from Schwartzie that felt like a verbal punch in the gut:
"Altho yr surname is [Katz] & U spk Yiddish, thts still does not make yr mother's NON Orthodox 'conversion' kosher [valid]," he wrote to her. "Tht means tht if U ever met a Jewish man who's family Rabbi was Orthodox or, who wanted 2 get married in Israel, U could NOT! ... I appreciate tht U were 'brought up' as a Jew (even tho yr father 'married' out of the faith ), but U may not come 2 any more Chai Center events.... We consider INTERMARRAIGE a grt tragedy for the Jewish ppl, even if the non Jewish person in the equation thinks & feels Jewish.... In the eyes of Al-mighty G*d, it's important 4 U NOT 2 date Jewish men. The result of which could, G-d forbid, end in grt tragedy, 4 both of U."
Shocked and pained, Katz wrote back to Schwartzie, reiterating her commitment to Judaism. In the escalating exchange, Schwartzie castigated Katz's late father for choosing to marry a non-Jew, and about Katz's recently deceased mother, he wrote: "She might have been agrt mother, but as a 'Jewish' mother she was a miserable failure! In truth she really was not a FAILURE as a Jew; since, in the eyes of G-d (where it COUNTS) she wasn't!"
Katz was crushed.
"I thought I would find a safe haven in the Jewish community, and I've been shunned by my own people," said Katz, sobbing into the phone just hours after she received Schwartzie's second missive. "I feel embarrassed and ashamed, like I don't belong and I'm not worthy."
Katz is not the only recipient of such letters from Schwartzie. The Journal has learned that this maverick wizard of outreach has directed angry e-mails to other women he perceives as threats to his mission toward ensuring that Jews marry Jews and thus guarantee the continuation of a 4,000-year chain of tradition.
In addition to Katz, two other women independently sent to the Jewish Journal samples of Schwartzie's letters -- rambling e-mails in large print, heavy with text-message shorthand punctuated with varied text colors, point sizes and fonts. One recipient, who is not Jewish, attended his Rosh Hashanah services last fall with a Jewish friend and followed up by sending the rabbi a question about her Jewish ex-boyfriend. Another woman, who is Jewish, brought a non-Jewish man to Schwartzie's seder in 2005. Filled with foul language and content that can easily be construed as bigoted, sexist and threatening, the e-mails seem to contradict the rabbi's aura of openness and non-judgmental warmth.
In a face-to-face interview, Schwartzie stood his ground when first confronted with the letters. He said that while he regretted language that may have been perceived as a personal attack, he stood by his goal of sounding an intentionally vicious warning to ward off non-Jews who might infiltrate his events in the hopes of ensnaring a Jewish partner and eventually intermarrying.
"It's destroying Jewish people," he said, explaining his visceral abhorrence of intermarriage. "This is not just a sin and you shouldn't do it, like don't eat lobster."
Fixing his blue eyes in a fierce stare, he tried to convey the vehemence of what he wants to get across to the women he calls "shiksas": "You are a f---ing Nazi. You are killing a Jew and I hate you for that and I'll piss on your grave. You are not going to kill my Jews."

My experience has been that the smaller the community, the less messed up it is likely to be. It's just the law of averages. More Jews, more schmutz, less Jews, less schmutz.
