Where else but on the Internet could the articles raise such a fuss? "There are no kosher movies," "No more computers," read some of the headlines on Heder Shaket, the online forum where Gerrer Hasidim conduct discussions, some of them daring, under a blanket of abbreviations and internal code. As usual in the virtual world, for a long time truth and rumor about what was permitted blended together, but an official declaration of war has finally been issued - a war against the increasing computerization of the ultra-Orthodox world.
Every Gerrer Hasid with a computer can expect a house call in the near future, meant to persuade him to get rid of the treyf device. Those with an Internet connection - the height of spiritual contamination, which only a few members of the community have rabbinical permission to use, and that for work purposes only - will receive special attention.
The purpose of the campaign is not to threaten computer users with sanctions, but rather to explain the "spiritual dangers" to which they and members of their household are exposed. If the Gerrer rebbe so wished, members of the community say, he would have ordered the computers removed from his followers' homes. But the rebbe is not doing so, perhaps because he, Rabbi Yaakov Aryeh Alter, knows how difficult it is to round up the horses once the stable door has been left open. And so, the campaign's purpose is informative: Every shtibl [small synagogue] is to appoint two people to go from house to house with the message that it is preferable not to have a computer at home.
While the battle over televisions was a successful one, computers are common in ultra-Orthodox homes. They are used mainly for word processing or to watch "kosher" films (Haredi-produced family fare, often educational). But many of them are connected to the Internet. Efforts to create a kosher Internet with restricted access have not borne fruit. Haredim from all sectors of the community participate in the dozens of Haredi forums that exist. Some of the "heavy users" are from Ger, Israel's largest Haredi sect, with thousands of families.
The moral issue is not the only one. For over a year, the Gerrer community has been following the fascinating battle in the courts of Gerrer Yisrael Ackerman, who is petitioning for the revelation of the identity of "Ploni Almoni" (the Hebrew equivalent of "John Doe"), who is also apparently a Gerrer. In 2004, Ploni Almoni posted an anonymous announcement on a Hasidic forum claiming that Ackerman beat up another Hasid, a nam named Levine, whom he suspected of disloyalty to the current rebbe.
The conventional wisdom in the community is that "Ploni Almoni" is one of a small group within the sect that questions the current leadership of the community, and that behind the lawsuit of Ackerman, the scion of a respected Hasidic family, are associates of Rabbi Alter. Many believe the legal battle is intended to deter community members from using the Internet, which can provoke the use of slander. On Heder Shaket and similar forums, one can easily find content that is critical of the Gerrer leadership.
In Hasidic communities such as Ger, where allegiance to the rebbe is a fundamental value and where every individual is dependent on community institutions from cradle to grave, the increased supervision of the Internet is causing panic. One of the regulars of Heder Shaket has already told the forum that he intends to get rid of his computer. "Up to now I felt it was between me and God, but today I feel that it's against Ger and that I cannot make my own law; I must accept the new regulations," he wrote. He called on fellow forum participants to join "the measure to clean our homes."
The fate of the kosher movies, which Gerrer families watch via computer, is still not clear. One married yeshiva student from Jerusalem related that he recently spent hundreds of shekels buying Haredi educational films for his children to view, "but if during the house call they tell me it isn't okay, then I'll throw them in the trash."

She pretended to be a 15-year-old and requested information on abortion after getting pregnant by her 23-year-old boyfriend. Her undercover video, which was first posted on YouTube but has since been removed to avoid more legal trouble, revealed a Los Angeles Planned Parenthood employee encouraging Lila to lie about her age: "If you're 15, we have to report it. If you're not, if you're older, we don't." California law requires the clinic to report any cases of statutory rape; by encouraging Lila to lie, Planned Parenthood shows that it cares more about protecting sexual predators and supplying abortions on demand than it does about protecting children.
Planned Parenthood's lawsuit argues that Lila obtained the video illegally because California law prohibits recording a conversation unless all parties are aware of and consent to the recording. Kathy Kneer, president of Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California, even said that "99 percent of the time, our employees do follow the law."
What's that? America's justice system should be satisfied that employees usually obey the law? The lawsuit smacks of bullying and it is a cowardly deflection of the real issue: Planned Parenthood got caught red-handed breaking the law.

Plea negotiations have gotten rocky in the racketeering case against John A. (Junior) Gotti so defense lawyers are digging up plenty of dirt against key prosecution witness Michael Blutrich.
"We'll be ready for him, just in case things break down completely," said one defense lawyer. A status conference in the case is set for tomorrow before White Plains Federal Judge Barrington Parker.
Blutrich, a former politically connected lawyer who was in bed with the mob as he ran Scores, an upscale topless joint in Manhattan, has stolen millions of dollars from investors in a $400 million fraud.
And while prosecutors often use scam artists as witnesses against mobsters, they rarely use pedophiles, especially those who have had problems with the law because of their relations with little boys, like Blutrich.
In 1994, Blutrich pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct charges stemming from sexual-abuse allegations from a teenage boy who played on a basketball team that Blutrich managed. The boy's mother said there were other victims, but that they were "scared off by him because he was a powerful lawyer." Eventually, she said, she moved her family away from New York.
The boy alleged that Blutrich took him to Scores, gave him a bracelet and other gifts in return for sexual relations. The allegations fueled a probe by the Brooklyn District Attorney's office that uncovered similar charges from other teenage males. Investigators, for example, learned that Blutrich and a 17-year-old boy had rented a Staten Island apartment in 1992.
Blutrich responded by hiring a former law partner of Brooklyn DA Charles Hynes as his attorney, which caused Hynes to reassign the case to a special prosecutor, said a Hynes spokeswoman.
Once the case was assigned to Brooklyn lawyer Leo Kimmel, sources said, Blutrich switched lawyers, and later agreed to plead guilty to disorderly conduct for threatening Kimmel's private investigator, Lawrence Frost.
"In this kind of case, sometimes the best thing is to take a plea to something minor,'' said Kimmel, who declined to give specifics of his probe but stressed that Blutrich was forced to undergo a year of therapy and counseling as part of the plea bargain.

The detritus of The Crossing at La Marque, a cluster of apartment buildings built in the 1960s, looms with its broken glass and rotting boards. City officials say it’s a magnet for crime and a public safety nightmare.
This image belies the stated aim of its owner, a rabbi from New York. His nonprofit organization, Kahal Shomrei Hadath, was established, among other things, to provide affordable housing for the poor, disabled and elderly, according to state records in New York and Texas.
But federal court documents, local property records and interviews with city officials in La Marque and elsewhere in Southeast Texas suggest that Rabbi Samuel Pinter and his son, Charles, have a history of neglecting their housing projects and defaulting on payments to the tune of millions of dollars.
In April, 136 units of Carter’s Grove, apartments owned by the Pinters, were evacuated after the city of Houston revoked the building’s certificate of occupancy, citing unsafe wiring and leaking gas lines among more than 200 health and safety violations. Two young children were shocked while playing near an unlocked electricity transformer, city officials said. Police saw raw sewage draining into the parking lot.
In Brazoria County, the city of Lake Jackson spent thousands of dollars on two Pinter properties. Casa Del Lago Apartments had rabid bats living in the walls, forcing some residents to get rabies shots, city building official Matt Houston said.
“We went through the process of removing the bats,” he said. “Then after that, we had to go through and get all the guano out.”
The city ordered another Pinter property, the 70 duplexes at Lakewood Suites, to stop accepting new tenants after determining the units are uninhabitable due to leaking sewers and other problems, Houston said.
Cost To Taxpayers?
The last residents of The Crossing moved out in July. City Attorney Ellis Ortego said the Pinters haven’t done anything with the property in years. If the city’s lawsuit is successful, La Marque will have permission to destroy the property, but it might come at a cost to taxpayers.
City Manager Robert Ewart said one quote suggested the demolition will cost $100,000. The city hopes to mitigate that by using the 27 structures for firefighting practice, he said.
Ewart and Ortego said the city played a cat-and-mouse game with Samuel Pinter, as he assured them time and again that buyers were interested in the property.
“We’re not going to buy that anymore,” Ewart said.
The Crossing has been host to fires and illegal drug activity. Three people were arrested there May 1 and charged with stripping copper and drug possession.
So far no one has been hurt, Police Chief Richard Price said. But it could be only a matter of time. It’s even a safety issue for police officers who patrol there at night. There is no electricity, and the place is pitch black, Price said. There is no security fence to keep people out.
Mayor Larry Crow said destruction of the apartments will help the city’s economic development.
“It’s definitely an eyesore to the community,” he said. “We’ve got some good citizens who live around it that don’t deserve that.”
On Vacation
Before filing the city’s lawsuit, Ortego is waiting on completion of a survey of code violations at The Crossing.
“Usually, these issues are handled by our building and standards commission, but this situation is too complex,” he said.
It’s a challenge Houston, the building official in Lake Jackson, can understand. His city has spent about $33,000 for an independent inspection agency to survey Lakewood Suites for a multitude of code violations.
“I never met Samuel (Pinter),” he said. “I talked on the phone to him numerous times and was promised numerous things that never came through. I don’t know what to say about that. It’s just — I don’t think he’s had to live in these kinds of situations. They ought to … make him live in some of those.”
In a telephone interview, Samuel Pinter said The Crossing at La Marque is now under contract for sale, which he expected to finalize in about 30 days. He declined to answer further questions, saying he was on vacation and couldn’t be reached the rest of the week.
Charles Pinter also said in a telephone interview that he and his father had plans to sell The Crossing.
He said the same thing happened in Lake Jackson. When pressed for details, he declined to answer and terminated the interview.
‘The Underlying Guy’
On March 26, a federal judge in New York issued a summary judgment in a lawsuit, ordering Samuel Pinter and an associate, Avruhum M. Donner, to pay Chinatrust Bank $5.5 million.
According to the order from U.S. District Judge Sandra Townes, the two were principal managers of the Olympia Mortgage Corp. They had signed guaranties of payment on lines of credit from the bank, but failed to pay.
Pinter has filed notice that he will appeal the ruling.
In the ruling, Pinter is described as “an experienced real estate investor who manages over 100 employees” and who has been in business for at least 30 years.
In a separate federal lawsuit, mortgage giant Fannie Mae accuses Olympia of defrauding it out of at least $44 million.
Olympia managed loans that were financed by Fannie Mae. According to Fannie Mae, Olympia said more than 260 loans were still active, even though they had actually been paid off by the borrower. Olympia pocketed the interest and principal on the loans, then continued to make monthly payments to Fannie Mae as if the loans were still active, the lawsuit claims.
On Tuesday, Fannie Mae’s lawyers filed with the U.S. District Court in New York a list of what it says are remaining claims in the lawsuit, originally filed in 2004.
According to the document, Fannie Mae is still seeking damages from 13 defendants, including Samuel Pinter — and Kahal Shomrei Hadath.
Out on the Interstate, The Crossing still stands.
“He seems to be able to change names frequently on ownership,” Ewart, the city manager, said. “But Mr. Pinter is still the underlying guy.”
Shmelka Pinter has a son named Tzvi. Is that "Charles"?

"Charles" Pinter may be the son that Shmelka propped up as "rov" in the Westgate community on the Lakewood-Jackson border. He did so by virtue of owning enough real estate and building him a shul.
Why did you leave Orthodoxy?
I am occasionally asked, usually by total strangers whom I've just met and my background is apparent, "Why did you leave Orthodoxy?" Since my catalyst for leaving Orthodoxy was being sexually abused by a rabbi, my response to this question up until now has been that this is something personal which I don't want to discuss.
On Friday night, I was at a Shabbat dinner, where I met a young man in the process of converting to Judaism. He, too, asked me this question. He said, "I've met many people who have embraced Orthodoxy, but very few who have left it. Why did you leave?" This time, my answer was, "Beyond the problem of sexual abuse, which happens in all communities, the response of the leadership is unacceptable."
That sums it up for me. The rabbi's abuse was my catalyst for evaluating the assuptions I grew up with, and the response of the leadership, who I approached with my story in hopes that they would take steps to prevent this rabbi from hurting another young woman, was the straw that broke the camel's back. How could I be a part of a community that turns their back to the pleas of those hurt and helpless?

Charles Pinter was manager of the Ave Y Home Center when Shmelka owned it. Previously, a fellow named Heshy had the job, who was probably pushed out when Charles left yeshiva and needed a job.

Baltimore’s rabbis have spoken out. Both of the major rabbinic organizations have delivered strong messages in recent weeks on the issue of sexual abuse within the community.
Indeed, the Vaad Harabbonim, the Rabbinical Council of Greater Baltimore, sent a letter signed by 23 of its rabbis to the Orthodox community, dated April 11.
The Baltimore Board of Rabbis, the umbrella group including modern Orthodox, Conservative, Reform and Reconstructionist rabbis, followed suit with an advertisement in this week’s edition of the Baltimore Jewish Times.
"There is no subject more painful for us to discuss than the issue of sexual abuse within our community," stated the Vaad’s letter. "Yet at this point we believe it is the subject most necessary to address. We must acknowledge that this horrible form of abuse exists –– and has existed for generations –– in our community as well. This issue must be confronted directly and we believe that this discussion can be a first step towards the necessary and achievable goal of ridding our community of this scourge."

The letter went on to state that abuse can ruin an individual’s sense of self, ability to trust others and ability to engage in healthy, intimate relationships. The letter added that in the past, there were "mistakes" made in handling these situations.
"Abusers," the letter stated, "were often not recognized for what they were, as it was too difficult to believe that otherwise good people could do such things, nor was it sufficiently appreciated what damage such acts could cause.
"Publicizing his status as abuser –– while causing enormous damage to his own family –– may be the only way to protect the community from him."
Several rabbis also addressed the issue from the pulpit with their congregations.
The Board of Rabbis advertisement was jointly signed by the organization’s president, Rabbi Steven Schwartz of Pikesville’s Beth El Congregation and Marc J. Terrill, president of the Associated: Jewish Community Federation of Baltimore.
Part of the advertisement reads, "Once it was a shande (sin) to discuss this topic; now it is a shande to ignore it.
"All abuse is wrong and against the values of Torah, to which we are committed. The abuse of children, among the most vulnerable members of our communities, is especially reprehensible and demands our immediate attention and our commitment to eradicate it."
"The stories [in the Jewish Times] have reminded us that this is an issue in the Jewish community," said Rabbi Schwartz. "And since it is an issue in the community, we need to acknowledge the problem to do whatever we can to help the victims.
"Also, we have to be proactive so that this won’t continue to happen. This is a community moment to look at ourselves, and let’s put an end to this."

Deploring this situation, Reb Eliezer issued strict orders to close all of Telz's matza bakeries by 11 p.m. His official reason for the order was that after that time the workers were too tired to maintain scrupulous kashrus standards. However, he told his family that his real purpose was to protect the workers from being exploited and overworked.
To enforce this order, Reb Eliezer ruled that any bakery owner who disregarded it would be deprived of his kashrus certificate. He disguised his true reason for issuing the law because at that time social welfare was not in vogue.
Seeing that storekeepers used worn and inaccurate weights and measures, he also issued an order requiring them to exchange their weights for new ones. To enforce this order, he personally inspected the weights of the market vendors, forbidding them to use the old ones even when non-Jewish customers made purchases. Reb Eliezer's son-in-law Reb Zalman Sorotzkin relates that when non-Jews came to Telshe's market, they would ask that their items be weighed on "the rov's scales."

An unbelievable scandal erupted at Kosher Fest this past year. Another food show that was treif was right next to Kosher Fest and the heimishe fressers were running to stuff their faces on the wrong side, just assuming it was all kosher. (Just as an aside, it's truly disgusting how many people with no connection to the industry show up to Kosher Fest just to gorge themselves all day with free food. That's also why George Little Management, the entity in charge of Javits security, is more careful to check passes at Kosher Fest than any other event.)
Lubinsky is now a DBC employee and seemingly did little or nothing to solve this problem. The kashrus organizations are afraid to speak up because they get free booths or other perks from DBC which they could lose.
I was asked for certain reasons by a kashrus organization to get involved and stop DBC from allowing this again. DBC had not been very cooperative prior to my involvement and I was going to retain a pro bono attorney if need be to solve the problem. I was then told by a chicken livered rov to stay out of it because he was terrified that DBC might somehow learn he had something to do with it and take away his perks.

I've been trying to figure out if the Chofetz Chaim crowd has a bone to pick with Peretz Steinberg and Belsky. The Queens Vaad posek Rabbi Welcher from Chofetz Chaim, tells people not to eat from Steinberg's son-in-law Asher Schachter. He doesn't even get into his kashrus standards, he just says that Schachter made a pirud by running his own hashgocho. Schachter removed references to Steinberg being the hashgocho's posek after UOJ exposed them last year over some fishy looking kashrus practices. Steinberg mind you is the most powerful figure on the Vaad.
When you say something negative about Belsky, the Chofetz Chaim yungerleit I know don't say anything I can decipher but they laugh and talk in code amongst themselves.

A fugitive from Schenectady County has been captured overseas in Asia.
60 year old Alan Horowitz, a level three sex offender and parole jumper, was arrested earlier today in India after an 11 month manhunt.
Horowitz is a former Rabbi and Psychiatrist convicted of sexually abusing a number of children under the age of 17.
He was sentenced to 10 to 20 years in prison before he fled the country.
Horowitz will now be extradited back to America.

Calling for the "Defrocking" of Rabbi Alan J. Horowitz - Convicted Sex Offender
The Awareness Center, Inc. is demanding that the Orthodox Union (OU), the Rabbinic Council of America (RCA) and Agudath Israel of America make a public statements denouncing the actions and behavior of Rabbi Alan J. Horowitz. By not doing so is condoning this serial child molesters criminal behavior.
The Awareness Center, Inc. is also demanding that rabbis around the world find a way to remove Alan Horowitz's rabbinical ordination and that of other known sexual predators (who are ordained rabbis).
At this time we are unaware how Rabbi Horowitz received his rabbinic ordination, yet it is known that it was from an orthodox source. The only way to revoke an ordination is for the rabbi who granted the title to revoke it. In some circles they see ordination as a degree that can never be taken away. According to Jewish tradition once an individual becomes a rabbi, halachicly he/she can ordain another individual.
In the past both the RCA (Rabbinical Council of America), Orthodox Union and Agudath Israel of America have stated that there is nothing they could do regarding Rabbi Horowitz since was he not a member of their organization.
Rabbi Horowitz is a convicted sex offender. Be aware that it takes a village to raise a sex offender and to enable them to continue molesting children or raping adults. Rabbi Horowitz is everyone's responsibility, including all rabbinical organizations, rabbis and Jewish communities.
It is time for all of us to stop passing the buck. Do the right thing, publicly denounce this man and remove his rabbinic ordination!

Background Information
Rabbi Alan J. Horowitz, MD, is a convicted sex offender, an ordained Orthodox rabbi and an adolescent psychiatrist. He is married with one child and seven step-children.
Allegations of child abuse have followed Horowitz for decades. In Maryland, he was convicted in 1983 of performing an unnatural sexual act on the 12-year-old boy who was his patient. Allegedly, Horwitz has assaulted a string of children from California to Israel to New York in the past twenty years. Alan J. Horowitz is a rabbi, magna cum laude, M.D., Ph.D., a graduate of Duke University, and a writer for NAMBLA (North American Man/Boy Love Association) publications.
In 1990 and 1991, Horowitz was charged with sexually abusing two boys under the age of 11, a boy less than 14 years old and a girl under the age of 17. On July 27, 1992, Horowitz pled guilty to sodomizing a nine-year-old psychiatric patient as part of a plea agreement. The charge was but one of the 41 pending sex-related charges involving multiple children that had been pending against him. Horowitz was sentenced to ten to twenty years in prison.
Rabbi Horowitz was released on conditional parole November 1, 2004 from Oneida Prison, NY. According to the New York Sex Offender Registry he was Designation: Sexually Violent Offender and Predicate Sex Offender level three sex offender). It is listed that his victims ranged in age from age 8 to 14.
On May 22, 2007 Rabbi Alan Horowitz was caught in India leaving a trail of new child victims. Horwoitz was in violation of his parole since June, 2006. He will be extradited back to the US.

Popular Nahariya rabbi arrested for alleged indecent acts

The arrest of a popular Nahariya rabbi for allegedly committing indecent sexual acts was made public Thursday, after a judicial gag order was lifted.
Rabbi Shimon Gerlick serves as rabbi of the Nahariya hospital as well as rabbi of the city's Amidar neighborhood.
Police arrested him three weeks ago after an 8-year-old girl and 30-year-old woman accused him of indecent sexual acts. Police extended the remand of the rabbi twice before putting him under house arrest last week.
A 15-year-old girl came forward and issued a third complaint against the rabbi while he was under arrest, police said.
The 8-year-old, who was escorted to the police station by her family, said that when she was five she visited synagogue where the rabbi took her to a secluded area and sexually abused her.
The 30-year-old, who is married, said the rabbi sexually assaulted her on two separate occasions. Once when she came to him for counseling at the hospital and another time when she met him at a shop in the city. In her testimony she said that in both incidents Gerlick took her hand and placed it on his crotch.
The 15-year-old testified that she met the rabbi near one of the synagogues in town where he committed indecent acts.
All of the charges against the rabbi relate to incidents that took place in the past few years. Brigadier General Faraj Faras, Nahariya police chief, said that the decision to arrest Gerlick was only made after each of the complainants' testimonies had been checked and found truthful.
Rabbi Gerlick is a well-known and admired figure in Nahariya. Over the years he has carried out the wedding ceremonies of hundreds of couples in the town and the surrounding area. Acquaintances were shocked to hear of the charges. One close friend told Haaretz: "We don?t believe it. This is a rabbi that everyone knows on account of his understanding and wisdom. He is a very warm man, its impossible to believe he's capable of such acts."

He fits the predator profile perfectly. His preference was teenagers that looked up to, and trusted him.
The mental illness that is sexual predatory behavior is almost identical to each predator.
1-They position themselves around children for a livelihood.
2-They are seen to the "world" as charismatic and charming.
3-They "counsel" children and women and proclaim themselves as experts.
4-They give classes to "troubled" teens and women.
5-They ALL live double lives and are masters of deception.
6-Position themselves to know of "shalom bayit" problems and pretend to counsel the women, not the men.
7-Many are "bright" and learned...They believe that even if caught, nobody will believe it.
8-This illness runs in families, it is genetic and causal, sometimes one or the other, or both.
9-It is schizophrenia-well disguised.
10-Primarily incurable because it is genetic and for the most part, progressive in nature.
I would say just about every case I've looked at can be traced to family genetics and a pattern of abuse in their families. And this is from a layman, can you imagine what the "professionals" know and keep it a secret from us?

according to the rumors i heard about the yingerman, is that his wife wants a divorce or the opposite, and in ger what are you going to say to the oilem, so you say he is a wife beater and he touches little kids and he wants to do the mitzva more than once a week, feh! how could he even think of such a thing, mamesh a meshumed, and basically it was because of the wife complaining that he touches kids and the beating her up that got him arrested , i don't know the guy personnally although i do know members of his family and the whole story just stinks, so until we get solid info from the kids that he abused them and not just from his wife saying so, then lets not condemm this man yet.

Closer to home, the situation of former World Jewish Congress (WJC) General Secretary Rabbi Israel Singer has gone from tragedy to farce.
For decades, Singer and WJC President Edgar Bronfman were a formidable team, pressing the issue of Jewish material interests with Swiss Banks, the German and other European governments and the general public. The power and prestige of Bronfman and the brilliance and bravado of Singer achieved significant results.
They embodied competence and wrapped themselves in the justice of their cause.
But after two years of investigations by the New York attorney general, which found financial irregularities, though it stopped short of labeling them criminal, the relationship between these two powerful men imploded. When the clash between the two partners went public, Singer was fired. When Bronfman resigned, the WJC posted a dossier on its Web site that brought the financial management of the organization into disrepute and will probably force the attorney general and the IRS to re-open inquiries.
Singer, who serves as president of the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against the German Nation, in which he had no financial responsibilities but brilliantly and ably led the Claims Conference's negotiations with the German government, refuses to step aside, even long enough to clear his name. He refuses to indicate whether he is a candidate for re-election when his term expires in July. And the Claims Conference board seems unwilling or unable to remove him or to ask him to step aside -- even temporarily.
It is a sad ending to an extraordinarily effective and daring career that served the Jewish people exceedingly well. But Singer must surely step aside -- if only to attempt to clear his name. If he does not, he must be pushed aside, in order to clear the name of the organization he heads.
To complicate matters further, there is widespread suspicion that former Israeli Prime Minister/Finance Minister Benjamin Netanyahu -- who threatened to destroy the Claims Conference if Israel was not given control of Claims Conference negotiations and allocations -- is operating through supporters who discredit the operation. At the same time, the Jewish Agency and others are attempting to force the Claims Conference to move to Jerusalem -- yet their track record and the record of the Israeli government in support of survivors is problematic at best.
Shmeared bagels are the least of the problems facing World Jewish Congress.

The election comes at a time when the organization faces what former WJC vice president Isi Leibler called a record-low in donations. "Without new leadership, or a personal infusion of millions of dollars, the organization will not be liquid," said Leibler, who is a Lauder supporter.
According to the group's financial statements, it spent $17 million and took in $9.4m. in 2005.

A New York City yeshiva received a three-year grant from AmeriCorps for its mentoring program for at-risk youth. Yeshiva Kehilath Yaakov in Brooklyn will get $277,093. The grant is renewable as long as Kehilath Yaakov meets the AmeriCorps criteria.
AmeriCorps is a government agency that connects 70,000 Americans annually to meet needs in education, public safety, health and the environment.
U.S. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) welcomed the grant.

Student Sues NYPD For $1M After Hernia Hell
There is a take-out food store we know of that is still charging tax on items that are not taxable.
After they were confronted, they issued "heartfelt" charata at improperly taking "one cent" from customers. They claimed not to know what they were doing despite the fact the NY State tax code was mounted on their wall. They then stopped charging tax on some items but continued with others. When they were confronted again, they claimed to have spoken to a State agent who told them they are doing the right thing. After we spoke to the State, we confirmed that that 99% of the items are NOT taxable. They seem to be playing games. They are stalling, saying they are busy with Yomtov. These "sincere" people who once claimed to tzitter if they improperly take "one cent" from customers now say they are afraid the taxman will come down on them. They will get another week or two to correct things before we warn the public about their deceptive practices.
We have been monitoring several locations in Brooklyn, Queens & Nassau.
One other store, Mazur's in Little Neck, Queens seems to be waiving the tax when we buy there after we complained, but still seem to be charging everyone else the tax.

Claims Conference Response
Contrary to The Jewish Week article, “Shoah Group Won’t Face Probe Of Past” (May 18), and particularly its misleading headline, the Claims Conference has not “backed away” or “shifted” its position on its audit of the March of the Living.

The binyan is nearing completion. Shmelka does have a son who lives at the end of 14th St on Seton Circle and several other Pinters live in and around Westgate, including "Charles" & Fagie, who may be facing criminal charges for the infestation of 10,000+ bats that forced residents out of the Texas complex.
That's how Texas State officials termed the situation when issuing a notice to close a nursing home owned by "Rabbi" Shmelka Pinter.

The state closed the doors on the former Mel-Haven Convalescent Home Thursday, citing a lack of head nurses, administrators and other health care professionals to care for the elderly residents.
“No one was in charge,” said Michael Jones, spokesman for the Texas Department of Aging and Disabilities. “There was no administrator, no director of nursing — you have to have an RN — there was no social worker, no activities director.”
The nursing home at 901 E. 16th Ave. recently changed hands, officially renaming itself Sunview Care and Rehabilitation Center about a week ago. It was the change in ownership that prompted a routine visit from state inspectors.
“They (inspectors) were in there on Monday and Tuesday, and that’s when they discovered no one was in charge,” Jones said.
By Thursday evening, the last of the 35 residents were waiting in wheelchairs near the front door prior to being transferred to other nursing facilities in Corsicana and surrounding areas. Sunview is a white brick and stone facility, with ivy draping the walls near the entrance. In the office, state workers were busily distributing paperwork and working out the final details of the transfers.
Family members were upset and puzzled by the closure of the 41-year-old facility.
“A number were in shock. When it really came down to finding suitable other locations for the relatives, I think that was the biggest concern,” said Elbert Turner, president of the Mel-Haven Family Council, and the Corsicana Area Coalition, which provide volunteers and other help to residents of the nursing home.
“We just had the ribbon cutting here, and now we’re out,” Turner said. “We’re still wondering. We had a little indication that things weren’t going to be successful, even though we were hoping.”
Earlier in the day, as families and ombudsmen with the Area Agency on Aging were rolling in, and ambulances full of patients were rolling out, the home’s bookkeeper, Betty Miles, issued a short statement.
“After 41 years of continuous operation, Sunview Care and Rehab Center, formerly Mel-Haven Convalescent Home, is closing its doors,” Miles said. “Residents are being transferred to nursing homes of their choice in the community.”
The new owner, Sam Pinter of Brooklyn, N.Y., could not be reached for comment.
In addition to temporarily closing the home, the state also suspended Sunview’s license. The license can be reinstated, and the facility reopened, if the owner decides to fix the problems found by inspectors. On Thursday, it was unclear if the doors will reopen any time soon.
Sunview has a relatively clean record in terms of state and federal regulations, with only minor building and air conditioning issues outstanding. It is rated 63 out of 100 by the Texas Department of Aging and Disability. The state average is 59.
Throughout the day, other nursing homes in Navarro County were scrambling to find beds and hire new staff to provide for the displaced residents.
“It’s important not to take anyone unless you can provide quality care for them,” explained Alandra Needham, administrator for Health Care and Rehab of Corsicana, which expected to take at least eight of the former Sunview clients.
Former residents of Sunview have also been transferred to Heritage Oaks West, Kerens Care Center and the Twilight Home.

Binyamin Nierenberg & Pinter are the couple best known for being followed on their wedding night from the Queens chassuna hall to a Connecticut hotel where they were robbed in the parking lot of all the jewelry and cash gifts. There are store types where NY State law gets tricky, such as restaurants, etc. But there is no shayla that stand alone take-out food stores or supermarkets that have a take-out section are NOT supposed to charge tax on 99% of the items they sell. After talking to the State, we were informed & pointed to documents posted online that only sandwiches and arrangements that are defined by the code as ready to eat / ready to go as a meal, like a specifically arranged deli platter or warm roast chicken are taxable.
Technically, a store is not breaking the law if they charge tax on anything else as long as they remit it to fill the greedy govt coffers in Albany. In other words the State doesn't give a damn when these jerks rip you off as long as they get to keep the money. You, the little guy, can file to get your money back by sending in the receipt (good luck).
The store owner jerks are either keeping the money themselves or will not change their system because they are too cheap / lazy to separate purchase types in their computers or otherwise keep track of it. Who gives a damn if you have to pay another almost 9% for nothing?

New York/Washington - When convicted child molester Rabbi Alan Horowitz was arrested on May 22, at a seaside resort in southern India, it concluded the most far-flung and exotic fugitive investigation ever conducted by the U.S. Marshals Service. Horowitz now sits in a foreign jail cell awaiting return to the U.S. to face justice.
Horowitz, an ordained Orthodox Rabbi and ivy league-educated child psychologist, was convicted of 34 counts of child molestation in Schenectady County, New York. He may have imported illegal materials into the prison where he was serving time – extending his sentence, and previously he had been convicted of “perverted sexual practices” in Maryland. During the 1980s, while living in Israel, police launched an investigation into charges that Horowitz was sexually abusing some of his second wife’s children. He fled back to the United States. Even earlier in his life, he faced a similar investigation while living in North Carolina.
Most recently, he fled New York state parole in 2006, but continued to use internet communications while hiding in India. “To locate him we used a network of tipsters and some of the most extensive electronic surveillance techniques we’ve ever employed,” said Deputy U.S. Marshal Gary Mattison (Northern District of New York). Mattison was the case Deputy assigned to work alongside New York authorities.
When it came time for the actual arrest, special agents of the State Department stepped in. “Diplomatic Security’s regional offices in India maintain an excellent working relationship with local law enforcement,” said Greg Starr, Director of State Department’s Diplomatic Security Service. “That type of close, worldwide capability gave us an unparalleled ability to help apprehend this fugitive.”
Horowitz was on the run from authorities for 11-months in a global manhunt. He was arrested by local police in Mahabalipuram, India. Authorities now are determining the most effective approach for returning him to law enforcement in the U.S. Last year, U.S. Marshals completed almost 500 fugitive extraditions and deportations. The federal charge against Horowitz, “unlawful flight to avoid prosecution,” was based on state parole violation warrants related to his 13-year imprisonment for sexual molestation of minors.
Horowitz had eluded UOJ agents because India is the only country where they currently do not operate.

It's probably inevitable that companies facing Eliot Spitzer hire his friends. And former State Attorney General Robert Abrams, a political ally whom Eliot goes out of his way to praise, is no exception.
Today, he turns up in an H&R Block press release denying Spitzer's claim that the company committed fraud. He's also in on the Attorney General's investigation into the World Jewish Congress.
As Abrams' bio at Strook & Strook & Lavan says: "Mr. Abrams has been of particular value to corporations that have been the subject of an investigation by a state attorney general or by multi-state investigations by numerous state attorneys general."

An Open Letter to Vicki Polin & Phil Jacobs
Rabbi Moshe Eisemann has recently published his new book “Music Made in Heaven” (distributed by Feldheim Publishers). It’s now on sale at Ner Israel and Hebrew bookstores in Baltimore. The book contains an endorsement letter by Ner Israel’s present Rosh Hayeshiva Rabbi Aharon Feldman. (Rabbi Feldman has prohibited “heretical” books written by Rabbi Nosson Slifkin and endorsed Rabbi Eisemann’s books.) The date on the letter (in Hebrew) is March 5, 2007.
Rabbi Eisemann started his book with a highly significant citation from Rabbi Samson Raphael Hirsch’s Prayer Book: “...even though, like the moon, he might occasionally even seem to disappear from sight, David, moon-like, shall live and endure for all time.” Rabbi Eisemann was clearly referring to himself. He believes that he is eternal despite all attempts of his adversaries.
He is truly eternal, but not because he is David-like. It is because he is Devil-like. Now he hopes that his witchcraft, learned from the ancient secret manuscripts (Eisemann’s family business back in Europe) will annihilate his enemies. It is no coincidence that Rabbi Eisemann called his new book “Music Made in Heaven.” Note two first M’s of the title. That’s a mystical weapon (Harba de-Moshe) as Rabbi Eisemann’s real name is triple M: Mario Martin Moses. (By the way, compare this title with the names of his other books: “Harp Strings & Heart Strings” (HS-HS), “Of Parents & Penguins” (P-P), “Shelter Amongst the Shadows” (S-S), and “Worlds Beneath the Words” (W-W). M’s are used here for the first time!)
Now consider these points:
1) Rabbi Eisemann still happily resides on campus across the hall (literally!) from his old buddy Rabbi Joseph Tendler, the head of the Ner Israel high school. (Does he supply Rabbi Eisemann with fresh kids? I heard from a reliable source that decades ago Rabbi Aharon Kotler explicitly told Rabbi Joseph Tendler never to teach children.)
2) Nobody on campus knows (at least officially) about Rabbi Eisemann’s pedophilic activities. The yeshiva closely monitors students’ Internet connections and reading materials.
3) Ner Israel has its own Inquisition. Count how many people had suddenly died at the Ner Israel just because they knew too much. (To what extent was an on-campus physician Julian Jakobovits involved?) An invitation to a poisoned Shabbos meal is nothing new.
4) Rabbi Eisemann’s new book has a www.yeshivakishiniev.org address on it. He is still actively involved with the Russians. What was the fate of all the Russian boys and girls he brought to the US? (Some of them were not even Jewish (!) and the Ner Israel administration knew very well about that.) Sexual slavery? Why does Rabbi Eisemann have young Russian girls living in his apartment? (By the way, money made from the sale of his books goes to Rabbi Eisemann’s offshore bank accounts (he is a British citizen) and to his large family in the US and Israel, not to the Kishiviev yeshiva as printed in the official mailing leaflet.)
5) Take a closer look at some Baltimore Rabbis:
a) Rabbi Zvi Berkowitz has proofread (as usual) Rabbi Eisemann’s latest book. Rabbi Berkowitz has been aware of Rabbi Eisemann’s pedophilic activities for decades. (Is that the reason he and his wife-matchmaker occupy two large apartments on campus?) Rabbi Berkowitz is the son-in-law of Rabbi Shmuel Kamenetzky, who has covered up sexual offender Rabbi Yaakov Menken.
b) Almost a year ago, Rabbi Yaakov Hopfer “made a decree that Rabbi Eisemann needed to leave the Ner Israel.” Rabbi Hopfer is a notorious hypocrite, a mouthpiece of the Ner Israel, his children went there. The Ner Israel has always dictated Rabbi Hopfer’s “Daa$ Torah.”
c) Rabbi Moshe Heinemann (a former palm-reader) has issued a ban on the “Baltimore Jewish Times” for publishing a story about pedophilic Rabbi Ephraim Shapiro. Rabbi Heinemann lived many years on Ner Israel’s campus and even gave classes there.
All these Rabbis are lifelong friends of Rabbi Moshe Eisemann. What do you expect from them? To repent and be good again? They were never good to begin with. (What do you expect from unethical Rabbi Eisemann who sells his sixteen books on ethics (!) at www.yeshivakishiniev.org? Is that because he is a Levite, chosen by God to sing sweet songs in the holy Temple?) These Rabbis spent their lives learning the Torah. They know what is right and what is wrong. They know it cold. I have no doubt that the multimillion-dollar business called the Ner Israel Rabbinical College will find an effective way to silence anyone who fights that “yeshiva” and its homosexual ideology. Remember that well.
Once you finish with Eisemann go after Shalom Tendler. The sick animal together with Matis Weinberg destroyed my life in Ner Israel in the sixties. I'll contact Jacobs.

DEATH ON THE NIRC
"And he brought me to the door of the court; and when I looked, behold a hole in the wall. Then said he unto me, Son of man, dig now in the wall: and when I had digged in the wall, behold a door. And he said unto me, Go in, and behold the wicked abominations that they do here. So I went in and saw; and behold every form of creeping things, and abominable beasts, and all the idols of the house of Israel, portrayed upon the wall round about. And there stood before them seventy men of the ancients of the house of Israel, and in the midst of them stood Jaazaniah the son of Shaphan, with every man his censer in his hand; and a thick cloud of incense went up. Then said he unto me, Son of man, hast thou seen what the ancients of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the chambers of his imagery? For they say, the Lord seeth us not; the Lord hath forsaken the earth." (Ezekiel 8, 7-12)
In 1964, when the massive 90-acre Ner Israel Rabbinical College campus had been established in Pikesville, Maryland, there was created a "Chamber of Counsels." Over the years, only a few chosen ones were allowed to enter it. There -- surrounded by strange pictures on the dark walls -- the Ner Israel ancients make their decisions replicating the medieval prayer:
"On Rosh HaShanah will be inscribed and on Yom Kippur will be sealed how many will pass from the earth and how many will be created; who will live and who will die; who will die at his predestined time and who before his time; who by water and who by fire, who by sword, who by beast, who by famine, who by thirst, who by storm, who by plague, who by strangulation, and who by stoning. Who will rest and who will wander, who will live in harmony and who will be harried, who will enjoy tranquillity and who will suffer, who will be impoverished and who will be enriched, who will be degraded and who will be exalted."
The decisions made there affect lives of both Jews and gentiles not only in Baltimore, but around the world as well. Some of the decisions are later publicized to boost the reputation of the Ner Israel (like smuggling thousands of people out of Iran), but most of them are kept secret. If they were revealed, the horrible castle of Ner Israel would instantly be razed to the ground.
Woe is to anyone who dares to learn or divulge the secrets of the Chamber of Counsels. The ultimate punishment is death. Swift as a hawk. Ner Israel zombies carry out the retaliation. You can see them around every now and then: usually very outward friendly individuals who are always ready to stab or poison, or hire somebody do that.
The Ner Israel scholars have taught them well: "Never think on your own, let your mind be as a clean tablet in the hands of your teacher to write upon, as a piece of clay in the hands of a potter. Remember what holy Nachmanides said (Deuteronomy 17,11), 'Even if you believe the priests to be mistaken, for you know what is your right and what is your left, do as they command you. Do not say, 'How can I eat this forbidden fat or kill this innocent person,' but rather say, 'The Lord has commanded me to perform all the commandments according to the directions of His servants at His chosen place. He gave me the Law according to their understanding even if they err.' If you think something is a wrongdoing, and your Rabbi thinks not, you ought to obey him."
They call it "Bittul HaDaat" -- abolishing the intellect. It must not surprise you that in the Chamber of Counsels they declared that it is absolutely forbidden for the NIRC students to take psychology courses at college -- lest they realize that they are being brainwashed and oftentimes turn into zombies. (Naturally, the prohibition did not apply to the "chosen" by the Chamber like Rabbi Beryl Weisbord's son, who is now a licensed psychologist staunchly serving the Ner Israel.)
Below are some Ner Israel people who clearly knew about the Chamber of Counsels and are now dead. For obvious reasons, I cannot be very explicit and cannot mention many names -- I know that the ancients of the Chamber of Counsels are trying to hunt me down, yet this is my message to them: you may exterminate me, but others will continue this noble fight. The truth will be heard. God, whom you believe "seeth us not, the Lord hath forsaken the earth," will pay you back for all the blood you have shed. Blood ruthlessly mixed with crashed dreams, destroyed lives, betrayed souls, bitter memories, and lost faith in the Lord...
* Rabbi Jacob Moshe Kulefsky was a lecturer and later for a short time a Rosh HaYeshiva at Ner Israel. He wanted a reorganization and even modified several NIRC "traditions." One winter day after he gave a public lecture at Ner Israel, Rabbi Kulefsky suddenly passed away. Some assert that he was unwell in any case, had poor vision, etc. Others question that. Rabbi Kulefsky lived right beneath Rabbi Moshe Eisemann's and on top of Rabbi Herman Neuberger's apartments at 401 Yeshiva Lane (Rabbi Moshe M. Eisemann moved to 403 Yeshiva Lane when both Rabbis Kulefsky and Neuberger were dead). He and his wife apparently knew what was going on (around that time his wife got instantaneously sick with the Alzheimer's /!/ disease). Following his passing, Rabbi Moshe Eisemann, Dr. Julian Jakobovits, and Rabbi Monish Sax (Rabbi Kulefsky's chauffeur, a Rabbi at NIRC high school, and a very close friend of Rabbi Eisemann) all of a sudden wrote lengthy eulogies in the local "Where·What·When" ultra-Orthodox journal regarding Rabbi Kulefsky's greatness. Was that done to remain above any suspicion?
* Rabbi Joseph Wolk was a principal of the Ner Israel high school for boys. At one point he (like later on Rabbi Moshe Eisemann) was hastily and unexpectedly "retired." However, he remained living on the NIRC campus. He later pioneered the Kishiniev yeshiva in Russia together with Rabbi Moshe Eisemann. For many years there were Russian girls living in his apartment on Yeshiva Lane, who privately performed sexual services for some yeshiva members. Every morning Rabbi Wolk studied the Talmud with previously mentioned Dr. Julian Jakobovits, his personal physician. Then Rabbi Wolk suddenly died. Again, some claim he was sick. Others question that and think he just knew too much. (Rabbi Wolk's successor at high school, Mr. Bernard Yaffe, also met a sudden quick cancerous end.)
* The Friday Rabbi Herman Neuberger passed away, he was seen strong and healthy at Rabbi Moshe Heinemann's (!) synagogue in town. In the evening he lit the Sabbath candles and laid down for a nap, from which he never woke up. Everyone knows that at the end of his life Rabbi Neuberger grew somewhat demented, was saying over things the Chamber of Counsels normally kept secret. (There were also rumors of his affair with a Russian woman who took care of his late wife.) My brother told me that the funerary Shiva at Rabbi Neuberger's residence looked more like an engagement party. The Neubergers there were simply beaming.
* The late NIRC Rosh HaYeshiva Rabbi Jacob Weinberg was famous for his pitiless remark in a case of ousting a little girl from the local ultra-Orthodox school, because "she had a bad influence (!) on others": "Kill her and later ask for forgiveness." Years later, it took only a couple of months for Rabbi Weinberg himself to die... of cancer. But was it really cancer, like was it actually cancer in the case of NIRC teacher Rabbi Ephraim Eisenberg (NIRC called his death the "untimely passing")? For Ner Israel, it is much safer to have someone without a backbone such as a current Rosh HaYeshiva Rabbi Aharon Feldman, who wrote in his famous letter to an Orthodox homosexual, "Judaism looks negatively at homosexual activity, not at the homosexual nature.... It is obvious that for many people this (ceasing their homosexual activity) will be difficult and will have to be accomplished over a period of time." Now you understand why Rabbi Moshe Eisemann needs a longer "period of time" to leave the kids alone.
* There were young students at the Ner Israel who were very close to Rabbi Moshe Eisemann. Some of them mysteriously died. Rabbi Eisemann was seen very enthusiastically involved in arranging their funerals. The official explanations for the deaths were predictable for NIRC: cancer, car accident, etc. Some believed that. Others had doubts. (The Yeshiva Lane residents still recall a horrifying death of Rabbi Jacob Eisgrau's daughter, who passed away within a few days, her eyes shedding blood. Did she also know something and was about to reveal it?)

A common denominator of all these puzzle pieces is a relatively quick death, later habitually explained by some kind of natural phenomena such as a deep-rooted ailment, heart failure, cancer (which, of course, certain poisons can rapidly trigger), or an accident. In the ultra-Orthodox world, autopsies are not usually done and in the case of NIRC may be even performed by their own instructed physicians.
So are we dealing with deaths, or are we dealing with murders? Many do not realize that Ner Israel has its loyal following all around the globe: in USA, in Israel, and in Europe. Ner Israel has its people in Congress and in Knesset. One phone call -- and the fate of a person is sealed: "who by water and who by fire, who by sword, who by beast, who by famine, who by thirst, who by storm, who by plague, who by strangulation, and who by stoning."
The Ner Israel gods who seal the fate of men do not believe in God. They do not believe in the Torah. They do not believe in the Resurrection and the Final Judgement. They only believe in the thick cloud of oblivion going up in front of their dollar-bill idols. So this is what God of Ezekiel tells them (8, 17-18):
"Then he said unto me, Hast thou seen this, O son of man? Is it a light thing to the house of Judah that they commit the abominations which they commit here? For they have filled the land with violence, and have returned to provoke me to anger: and, lo, they put the branch to their nose. Therefore will I also deal in fury: mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: and though they cry in mine ears with a loud voice, yet will I not hear them."

Let it be known that this man is being railroaded and trampled upon -- along with quite a number of other decent men -- by a system as unholy as any mentioned above.
It is the duty of every good Yid, in fact every just individual -- man or woman, Jew or non-Jew -- to support this man and show him any kindness you would show any other person being unduly persecuted and attacked by evil and greater forces.
I address the unfortunate popular lobby growing around "Get" issues and false declarations of "Agunah". This is probably one of the most misrepresented religious issues of our time. Sadly, it has only now come to my attention -- and even though in the past I have focused my efforts on more widespread epidemics which affect Klal Yisrael, I now believe this threatens to be an issue of immeasurable consequence -- one that threatens our survival as one people as much as any one issue ever has in our history.
To those who are now suffering from the horrible mis-information campaign being perpetrated by other Rabbis, lawyers, the media, and of course embittered spouses who justify their actions in their own minds, please forgive me for not having stood up sooner. Although it is no excuse, I simply did not know, was not aware, quite what a travesty of justice was being perpetrated upon innocent men, women and children by these self-serving crusaders. In this time of Teshuvah, I wish those of you who know me will forgive me. The rest will know me soon enough.
Meanwhile, I beseach all upstanding individuals -- men and women -- to steer clear of the Jewish Press and of an organization that calls itself ORA, as well as any and all Rabbis that foolishly associate themselves with them. Over the following months it will become undeniably clear just how far astray from Torah values -- and for that matter any manner of ethical behavior -- these groups and individuals have gone. To those of you who would trample upon the Torah, I would warn you to beware.
King David assures us in Psalms that the lies of the deceivers are venomous snakes that ultimately turn about and mortally bite those that brought them forth. I promise all of you his words were accurate and true. You will see it for yourselves. The scaffolding of lies cannot long remain standing.
To those who are currently involved in such a sad state of affairs, I beg you all take heart. These matters can most assuredly be resolved agreeably for those willing to follow the path set out for us by the Torah. You must not despair.
What about gun control at NIRC? I'm serious. When I was in high school there, two fellows owned BB Gun rifles and fired shots up and down the dorm hallway until surprise, surprise, a bullet richcoched off the wall and hit on of them near the eye, just missing entering his eye. They fabricated some lame rock-falling injury to describe the blood wound and got Mrs. Tendler to treat the wound and sew the stiches. Maybe GUNS at NIRC should be exposed instead of molestation as it's more neutral ground and has a higher chance of expose success.
