Like many cases of loss, many within Chabad have not progressed beyond the first stage of grief (Denial). I remember seeing the secretaries roll out the Rebbe, and I recognized at that time the debilitation he had experienced from the stroke. Rather than deny what had happened, I became angry at the secretaries for not helping the chassidim to process what was happening.
Unfortunately, many within Chabad, became enablers to the denial.
On one hand, from a frum perspective it's all ridiculous.
But on the other hand, they're basically harmless and do way more to attrach non-religious Jews back to Judaism than the freaks in Meah Shearim.
