Milton Friedman - The Economist That Impacted The World.

Paraphrased from " A Biography Of Milton Friedman"

..... "His childhood and youth revolved around family, school and faith. Milton remembers that he went through a fanatically religious phase. That he had an excessively religious phase as a young man is noteworthy, because it reflects the natural character of his mind - things must be consistent; they must be one way or the other.

He tends to go the whole way intellectually, or not at all, and seeks order and harmony in the universe. He was unable to achieve this through the logical observation of Orthodox Judaism. His genius was his philosophy of personal ideas, which extended to his economic theories of the "free-market". A natural and coherent economic system could be only achieved, based on the wants and needs of both the consumer,(demand),and manufacturer,(supply). Any forced set of rules and regulations (as in a Socialist-Marxist economic system)was doomed to failure. He is a naturalist and an empiricist.

He had a personality that of leadership and his ability to draw people to him. He had a remarkable exuberant personality. Among his extracurricular activities, he took violin lessons as a child. He was though non-musical, surprising, because musical ability is often linked to a high IQ, and a high mathematical ability"......

All great people are only one person.

Ha Ha Ha!!!

Ya gotta love it!

The gangsta in the Windy City, who is the Novominsker's brother-in-law has requested today for people to refer to him as the Zidichover, not by Rabbi Eichenstein. This way he deludes himself to think that all the previous posts are not refering to him.

This follows a pattern of first calling his shul Chessed L'Avrohom, then Mosdos Machzikei Hadas, to Chicago Center of Torah and Chessed. Since most instances took place under the title of Mosdos, he deludes himself to think that he is not liable.

Just refer to yourself as what you are: EichenSWINE. Just throw Yossi Meystel out by Shabbos, June 30. All victims PROMISE there will be no suit brought against the Rav, the shul or the organization.

This is the last, best and final offer.

Margo is imitating the Agudah. There was plenty of food to fress on all afternoon at the Kesivas Sefer Torah.

It's funny though that the event was open to the entire community. The YTT of old would have made it an elitist, exclusionary event that was closed to to anyone but invitees. Because of the all the bad press they've been getting from UOJ, they had to put on a friendly and welcoming second side of their two faces.

It totally cracks me up, people would rather trust their family to Charles Manson than to Sholom Tendler. Maybe the olem is not as much the golem as I thought.

NEW HAVEN — Tired of what they describe as lip service and hollow promises from the city and Police Department, members of an Orthodox Jewish community and other activists from the Edgewood neighborhood started armed patrols of their own streets Monday night.

"We're not vigilantes. We're not going out looking for trouble. We have to protect what's ours," said Gary Lynes, of Irving Street, who has a pistol permit and will carry his weapon on patrol. So will Rabbi Dov Greer and his brother, Eliezer, both sons of prominent developer Rabbi Daniel Greer.

"It's a very reluctant step. It's an unfortunate step, but we have appealed and appealed and appealed. We have met and met and met," said Rabbi Daniel Greer, who runs the Gan School at 765 Elm St. and nonprofits that in the last two decades have rehabilitated about 40 houses in the area.

It was clear Monday the armed citizen patrols were designed to send an unmistakable message of frustration to City Hall and the mayor. The Greers have appealed to police Chief Francisco Ortiz Jr. for years for increased patrols and walking beats. Every mugging or robbery, Eliezer Greer said, generates a few calls from the city and a cosmetic, and short-lived, increase in police presence.

"Meeting after meeting with the chief and the mayor have accomplished nothing," said Hank Campbell, a Democratic co-chairman for the 24th Ward. "So if you have to bear arms, the Constitution gives us this right. We have to protect what's ours."

Daniel Greer called for Ortiz's ouster, saying he is the Donald Rumsfeld of Mayor John DeStefano Jr.'s administration.

"It's clear the man is not competent," said the elder Greer. "He's a very sweet guy. ... I'd like to have drinks with him. He just can't run a department."

It was an attack Sunday on Dov Greer outside his Elm Street home that triggered the call to action.

State's Attorney Michael Dearington, New Haven County's top prosecutor, said each case would have to be individually evaluated if one of the civilian patrols pulled a gun and threatened someone or actually shot somebody.

Democratic mayoral candidate James Newton left his 58th birthday party and went into the Edgewood neighborhood when he heard a newscast about the armed civilian patrols. "I'm concerned about this community and people feeling they have to take the law into their own hands. We need to come in and fix this problem quickly," he said. "I'm very, very concerned about vigilante groups being formed in this city."

Newton said he would begin crafting a letter to Gov. M. Jodi Rell asking her for state police support and oversight in New Haven "to bring a sense of comfort and security in our public safety system."

While the armed citizens patrol is being organized by the Greer family and their followers, they said they hope the patrol will include a wide-range of community members. The elder Greer said he doesn't believe the Orthodox Jewish community is being specifically targeted, but that its a communitywide problem.

Daniel Greer was recently in the news when the federal Environmental Protection Agency filed a complaint against three of the housing corporations he runs, charging that he failed to notify 38 tenants in 20 apartments of potential lead paint problems. The case and the proposed $300,000 fine will now be heard by an administrative judge.

The armed patrols met with some incredulous looks from community members.

One woman looked puzzled when a reporter described the plan and replied, "So what are they going to be, like the Black Panthers of the '60s?"

From comments to Shmarya:

IS YESHIVA & MESIVTA TORAH TEMIMAH A MODERN DAY IR HANIDACHAS?

Background:

The institution currently known as Yeshiva & Mesivta Torah Temimah (“TT”) was founded by Lipa Margulies (“Margulies”) as Yeshiva Torah Vodaath of Flatbush. As an employee of the authentic Yeshiva Torah Vodaath (“YTV”), one of the oldest and most prestigious Torah institutions in America, Margulies had access to YTV’s proprietary donor information which he absconded with when he departed to start his own school. Margulies commenced his fraud by misrepresenting himself to donors as an agent of YTV and donations slated for YTV began fattening TT’s bank account. By the time YTV realized the extent of the brazen fraud being committed against them by Margulies, he had stolen millions of dollars from them. It took several years for YTV to get Margulies into a bais din for a din torah. The bais din forced Margulies to change his business name. He began operating under the name Yeshiva Torah Temimah, F/K/A/ Yeshiva Torah Vodaath of Flatbush.

Kolko:

Margulies hired Yehuda Kolko (“Kolko”) as a rebbe in his new yeshiva. Margulies was immediately made aware of Kolko’s dangerous sexual deviance. Fearful of the potential impact the double whammy an ongoing financial scandal coupled with a child abuse scandal would have on his budding business, Margulies cynically chose to cover up the fact that he had hired a known pedophile and focused instead on building his business.

Kolko in turn focused on grooming and molesting his victims.

Complaints:

As TT grew both in size and prestige, the pedophile issue kept rearing its ugly head. Parents and students, with frightening regularity, approached Margulies with complaints against Kolko. Margulies responded by warning parents and victims to keep their complaints to themselves, discrediting any victims bold enough to go public and threatening their families with retaliation if they did not stop their victimized children from complaining.

In the mid 1980’s, when a few victims managed to convene a bais din to address the horrific accusations against Kolko, Margulies reacted by retaining Rabbi Chaim Pinchus Scheinberg, Rosh HaYeshiva of Torah Ohr (“Scheinberg”) to interfere with the bais din. Scheinberg, Rabbi Simcha Kaufman (“Kaufman”) (Kaufman is a former student of Scheinberg and currently an employee of both Margulies/TT and Camp Agudah where Kolko worked and abused children for a decade). As a high level employee of Camp Agudah, Kaufman was informed of Kolko’s molestation of young campers as early as the late 1960’s and together with others chose to cover up the accusations) and others, contacted victims and their supporters to insist they cease and desist from their attempts to rid TT and our community of a dangerous pedophile.

Specifically, Scheinberg called the organizers of the bais din and insisted they stop the din torah proceedings. He falsely stated that under halacha two witnesses are required for the testimony to be halachically valid and as there were not two witnesses for any single act of abuse perpetrated by Kolko, all of the accusations must be disregarded.

Scheinberg also contacted victims and asked them to tell him what had been done to them by Kolko. Upon hearing the details of Kolko’s acts of molestation, Scheinberg falsely informed the victims that under halacha, absent penetration or proof of ejaculation, Kolko’s actions against them were not punishable and that they were obligated to cease and desist in their pursuit of justice.

In so doing, Scheinberg knowingly distorted clear halacha and allowed Margulies and Kolko to continue their perversity. Due to Scheinberg’s gross misrepresentation of halacha, to this day there are victims of Kolko who believe that the horrific acts of abuse Kolko perpetrated upon them are not actionable under halacha.

Not one to leave anything to chance, Margulies also enlisted the aid of Yehoshua (Shia) Fishman (“Fishman”) (Fishman is the Executive Director of Torah U’Mesorah, the National Society of Hebrew Day Schools in America.) Fishman used his position as representative of Torah U’Mesorah to have one-on-one conversations with victims of Kolko. Introducing himself as the head of Torah U’Mesorah, an organization held in great esteem by yeshiva students, he promised to keep anything told him in the strictest confidence. Reassured, the young victims poured their broken hearts out to Fishman who promised to help them. Fishman promptly reported all to Margulies and Kaufman. Margulies and Kaufman proceeded to publicly name and discredit each and every victim, one by one. The astonished victims react to this day with fury at Fishman’s betrayal of their confidences. To his credit, Fishman now acknowledges that a horrible atrocity was perpetrated by Margulies and Kolko against the victims and now pleads old age, ill health and his imminent retirement as the reason for his inaction at this time.

It is of note that Rabbi Avigdor Miller, obm, instructed the organizers of the bais din to ignore Scheinberg’s perversion of halacha and to persist in their quest. Nonetheless, for over twenty years after Scheinberg’s maniacal interference, Kolko continued molesting young boys.

Having survived the most serious assault against his yeshiva, Margulies assumed he had put the matter behind him and focused on building his businesses. Margulies expanded Kolko’s responsibilities to include administrative duties, one-on-one “tutoring” of select students in TT and the running of TT’s summer camp in the Catskill Mountains known as Camp Silver Lake. It is of note that one of the perks Margulies gave Kolko was a private office complete with its own bathroom.

Needless to say Kolko’s child molesting continued, resulting in newly shattered lives every year.

Ir Hanidachas:

According to most interpretations, Ir Hanidachas is in reality a practical impossibility and as such is taught as a lesson on how to deal with irredeemable evil. The purpose of this post is not to seriously suggest that TT must be burned down to the ground together with all its inhabitants. To the contrary, many of the rabbeim and students of TT are innocent victims of Margulies. These rabbeim and students will have to spend the rest of their lives distancing themselves from Margulies and TT and clearing themselves of the horrible stigma of association with TT. This is more punishment than most of them deserve and we wish them no further pain.

However, as with the concept of Ir Hanidachas, Yeshiva & Mesivta Torah Temimah is infused with an evil beyond most of our comprehension. While boy after boy was being sexually assaulted by Kolko in his private office and in the basement of the yeshiva building; at the very same time and in the very same building, TT rabbeim and students sat in their classrooms and bais medrash learning Torah while turning a blind eye to the horrors being committed by Kolko and Margulies. When a few of the victims summoned the courage to accuse Kolko, the rest of TT went along quietly with Margulies and allowed their classmates and talmidim to be vilified.

Yeshiva and Mesivta Torah Temimah cries out for treatment as an Ir Hanidachas. The Rambam’s requirement that the inhabitants of an Ir Hanidachas be warned has been met. The TT community have been on notice of the midas sedom being perpetrated by Margulies and Kolko for decades and were warned publicly and repeatedly of the consequences their continued inaction and refusal to repent would result in. According to the Ra’avad, the occupants of an Ir Hanidachas are so beyond the pale that even true repentance does not allow for a reprieve. A Tosefta Sanhedrin postulates that in the case of Ir Hanidachas the property of the righteous inhabitants is burned along with everyone else’s. Allow me to expand upon that thought and suggest that the guilt of the “righteous” lies in their silence while they allowed the horrific behavior to continue under the roof they shared with the purveyors of evil. Their silence is interpreted as acquiescence.

What did someone such as Rabbi Schustel, by many accounts a very special man, do to deserve this indelible blemish on his reputation? Simply stated, he was and remains to this day, silent about the horrors perpetrated by Kolko and Margulies. While Margulies countenanced and supported Kolko’s murder of our children’s innocent souls, Schustel and his coworkers sat, and continue to sit, silently. They did, and continue to do, nothing to stop Margulies and Kolko.

In response to the argument of “what about the zechusim of the tremendous amount of Torah emanating from the many thousand graduates of TT?” I refer to the Rambam who in Yesodei Ha’Torah states that a sefer torah written by an apikoros must be burned. The Rambam called for the burning of a sefer torah written by an apikoros because of the lack of proper intention to be m’kadaish shaim shomayim as the sefer torah was written. Thus, such a sefer torah, although on the surface identical with a kosher sefer torah, lacks kedusha and as the living embodiment of tumah and sheker its very existence stands in contradiction to everything the Torah represents. Accordingly, it must be destroyed.

It takes no great leap of logic to apply the above to Yeshiva and Mesivta Torah Temimah, an institution built by a koyfer on a foundation of sheker, theft, deception and the blood and soul’s of innocent children. While Yeshiva and Mesivta Torah Temimah might appear at first glance to be a yeshiva similar to other yeshivas, it is in fact the yeshiva equivalent of a sefer torah written by a min. Being a community of sorts, the evil committed within the four walls of Yeshiva and Mesivta Torah Temimah render it an Ir Hanidachas. As such it is an institution whose eradication from our midst will result in a true kiddush hashem and will hasten the geulah, may it be G-d’s will.

UOJ, could you please elaborate on your purpose for citing Milton Friedman? I did not realize that he was frum to begin with. He grew up during a time that at least most of the so called gedolim were the real thing, so what does his throwing off of the yoke prove as far as you are concerned?

Shopping Mothers, Neglected Babies

Recently, I was walking past a store in a frum neighborhood and saw two unattended babies in carriages. Being that I was on my cell phone, I loudly said I would watch the unattended babies until the mothers returned. A few minutes later, a lady came out and said, rather irritably, “The mother is here!” This mother, obviously perturbed that I had suggested her baby was being neglected, glared at me.

This is not the first time I witnessed such an incident and intervened. Leaving babies unsupervised in carriages may have become something of a “conventional” practice in the frum community, but how, exactly, is it not out-and-out neglect?

Brooklyn is not a place where crimes never occur. We frequently hear of incidents in our communities. So why do people assume their unattended babies are safe? You rarely see an unattended bike, even in your own communities, without a chain or padlock. But unattended carriages with babies inside – well, that’s an entirely different story.

Dear mother, do you not realize how easy is it for someone to walk away with a child when there are several other abandoned baby carriages on a busy avenue? If a store does not allow carriages, leave it outside and take your baby in. Would you ever consider leaving your pocket book in the carriage and walking into a store?

Once, I saw an unsupervised toddler in a carriage outside a pizza store. I walked into the store and announced that someone “forgot” a baby outside. A mother eating pizza grunted to her daughter to go watch the baby. How can a mother leisurely sit and eat pizza while her baby is left alone on the street?

Besides the obvious dangers of leaving a baby unattended, how can you be sure the carriage will not roll into the gutter? All infant seats, swings, highchairs, etc. have warning labels about not leaving children unattended. If children must be supervised even when inside a home, how much more so out on the street?

Another personal experience: A stroller left outside a store with packages on the handles suddenly tipped over. I ran to the carriage, which contained a crying toddler, and tried to rebalance it but it kept tipping over. I waited with the carriage until the mother came out of the store with yet more bags. How can a mother go shopping without even bothering to check on her baby left alone outside?

Mothers, your children are invaluable! As a caregiver, it is a parent’s responsibility to ensure that babies and young children are supervised at all times. Unsupervised children are neglected children. Period.

UOJ, could you please elaborate on your purpose for citing Milton Friedman?
------------

I am doing research on many issues, including the reasons that many Jews, especially the best and brightest among us, have given up Orthodox Judaism.

It is a fascinating challenge for me. I want to get deep down to the reasons that over 40% of Orthodox Jews, raised Orthodox, went to yeshivas, in the last 50 years have given it up.

These people, like Friedman and Kissinger, were not "teens at risk".

To lose a man to secularism, the caliber of Milton Friedman, is daunting. I am in contact with his family to learn more.

I am highly interested in what most people don't even think about.

Why don't we start with the 2 reasons that R' Moishe Feinstein zl highlighted?

Hearing the refrain from parents of "shver tzu zein a Yid" and the construction of magnificent shuls instead of yeshivos.

R' Yaakov Kaminetzky zl also mentioned something close to his own heart. Rebbeim who hit young boys. An issur d'Oraysah for which they will give din vecheshbon even if the boy does not throw away Torah umitzvos.

For your next movie can your Chicago Chevra suggest the Meystel story.

All you need is a locked kitchen with no windows.

A character named pedophile Yossi Meystel.

Six kids ranging in age from eight till eleven.

A Rabbi Eichenstein.

For the trailer you can put the fondling scenes. For the real activity you will have to wait for July 1.

Every effort is being made to not go public with further details. After that point....
