You might find the opinion article by Maureen Dowd to your taste. IMO the issues of neglecting cases of pedophilia, suppressing women's voices and homophobia are joined at the hip. Why this is so remains unclear.

I saw that EJ, thanks...and that from a devout Catholic! I don't see the relationship from pedophilia to homophobia though...
