I never had the pleasure of meeting him personally, but in the videos that I've seen on YouTube, he seemed like a very down-to-earth man who wasn't corrupted by the downward spiral in common decency among the hareidim (taking on insane chumras, becoming more-and-more anti-social towards outsiders and gentile neighbors, cheating the government, defending sexual predators etc).

He was a mensch, that I had the privilege of knowing. He was a boyhood friend of my father z"l, and our home was permeated with his music. I spent many a Simchat Torah at Modzitz as a child, remembering the great Theodore Bikel visiting and singing the Modzitzer classics. He was a student of Rav Pam; a generation that will not be replicated.
