Dear Ramaz Upper School Faculty, Parents, Students, and Recent Alumni,
It is with great difficulty that I inform you that Dr. Ari Sclar is no longer an employee of Ramaz.
We understand that you may have questions about Dr. Sclar's departure, but because this is an ongoing investigation, we can only say that it is due to a serious violation of Ramaz's standards of conduct.
Dr. Jon Jucovy, Chair of the History Department, will be supervising the grading of Dr. Sclar's final exams and the calculation of semester grades. Dr. Jay Stone, a veteran member of the history department who retired last year, will begin to teach Dr. Sclar's second semester junior history classes starting on Thursday and until further notice.
As this is a sensitive matter, we ask that you please respect the privacy of Dr. Sclar and not contact him. We will share relevant information, as appropriate.
As we previously communicated, if anyone has any information regarding a violation of Ramaz's standards of conduct, please contact the law firm, Debevoise & Plimpton LLP. You can reach out to Helen Cantwell at hcantwell@debevoise.com or 212-909-6312, or Andrew Ceresney at aceresney@debevoise.com or 212-909-6947.
Sincerely,
Shlomo Stochel
Head of Upper School
Ramaz School
